Gave my pantry a good hoover and clean, and reorganised it after a flour mite (flour weevil) infestation. Lessons learned on storing flour and other items long-term!
Too early to review how successful the Critterkill items were (not sponsored / not an ad).

Oh dear, I hope your flour is ok! I think its more at risk of bugs when it's been left a long time (guilty!) Thank you, my partner installed the shelves - he'll be so pleased you like them too :)

Get a cheap vacuum sealer and some bags, you can vac seal most items without O2 absorbers and they are a lot cheaper than Mylar. I vac seal all of my flour / sugar / rice / dry fruit + veg and they last for many months Mason jars with the screw top lid are also a good bet, you can get attachments for vac machines or stand alone units that will vac seal the jars. An easy and cheap one is to put a couple of Bay leaves into the flour / sugar / rice containers (even the sealed ones) as critters don't like the smell

Cheers Lee, I keep seeing people on RU-vid with vacuum sealers but haven't sussed it out for myself. Definitely something worth looking into as I'd like to store larger quantities of flour. I actually bought bay leaves and never did anything with them 😣That's a good reminder - thank you!

@@StrivingforSelfSufficiency Vac sealers are dead easy to use. They use a special bag that is able to form a heat sealed closure (the machine does this) You just fill the bag up, making sure you get nothing on the top 1" of the bag (or else the bag wont seal) stick the open end of the bag into the machine, close and clip the lid down and press the button. wait for it to finish sucking out the air and sealing the bag, open machine and start again 🙂 Forgot to mention that you can buy rolls of the plastic bag material (like a long tube) where you can cut it to length and seal one end in your vac machine, this lets you make bags of different sizes which can be more economical

We keep our rice, oats & pasta in the original bags but put them into airtight plastic 5 litre tubs from Amazon. Petty much everything else is tinned - soups, baked beans, tuna, corned beef etc.

Sounds like a good shout! I bet those 5lt tubs stack well too :)

@@StrivingforSelfSufficiency They stack perfectly & are not too heavy to move around the place if necessary. A lot of American preppers seem to use massive tubs but they must way a ton when filled with rice etc.
