👏👏💪💪 Great job! Every time you said, "You guys probably think this is purple," I'm like, "That's pink" 😅 Watching this made me want to go back and rewatch the whole series ❤
Ok, I hit pause at 1:33 to write this comment. First of all, ALL the polishes on the floor is AMAZING. Second of all, you're inspiring me because this is EXACTLY the task I have ahead of me within the next month. I have four 9-drawer units (Amazon version of Ikea Alex drawers). One is put together, one is almost completely put together, and I still have two more to build. Before getting to those two, my father and I are trying to figure out the best way to reinforce the bottoms of the drawers. Once we figure that out (tomorrow?????), I can do that with unit number two, and then get to building units 3 and 4. Then maybe going back to unit 1 to reinforce those drawers (but that means disassembling the drawers). THEN, I need to do exactly what you are doing here. I have my polishes in plastic bins, but they are only half organized. So, it's really like starting from scratch. Over 3000 polishes. My intent is to film it from above, as well. If I'm successful, it will go on RU-vid and you can see my process. I haven't seen the rest of your process as of writing this, so I'm so excited to see how you handle it! Annnnnd PLAY!
As I'm watching this....wow....I have a lot of polish. Not realizing just how big my collection when I know I draws full of many of these brands. You have a great collection and variety. Polish makes me so happy.
Congratulations on finishing that epic project! It was fun and inspiring to watch the process. Thanks for taking the time to film it and share it with us! 😊 I have my crèmes and toppers separated from the rest of my collection and I store those by color. The rest I store by brand and ideally by color within the brand but it’s kind of a mess right now. My polishes are in helmers, a wall rack and boxes in a cupboard. Eventually I’ll destash enough that everything fits in the helmers and wall rack.
I bought magnetic labels off amazon that you write on with dry erase markers, they make reorganizing easy!! Loved watching your organization (and I did not judge you ONCE! LOL- it's your stuff, do what you want!! LOL)
I am a Taurus, so this was the first year I decided to wear all greens (emerald birthstone) for the entire Taurus season. I loved it, as green is my favorite color family to wear of nail polish.
Started using your collection spreadsheet and I’m judging myself. Asked my hubby to help and he’s judging me too 😝but it’s really nice to see how many polishes I have and the need to destash ❤❤❤
What a job, looks so good now. A little bare, have to get those magnets back on. I re-did mine a month ago, I store by maker. Then I separate the tried from the untried (which are also done by maker).
And here I am crying about organizing 400ish polishes... lol! Thanks for sharing! Love your collection! I have a dresser drawer full and a bin beneath my bed with my glitters and toppers. I also have a small drawer set that holds nail supplies. I'll have to think of a plan as my collection grows and I'm also trying to decide on a cap for myself; like once I reach a certain amount of polishes, I'm done collecting until I get rid of a few.
I found magnetic labels on Amazon. I cut them in half and down to size of the company name. You can write on the labels or use a label maker (which I do). I place the labels on each drawer. Since they are magnetic, they can be easily moved. I only have about 500 polishes so I sort them by the maker's name in two helmers. I have swatch sticks that are sorted by color. All of my polishes in the drawers have painted round tips on top (except for Mooncat). I don't have any problems finding what I want to use. Oh, also have a spreadsheet on Excel. In the beginning of this hobby, I did buy duplicates. I created a spreadsheet to prevent that from happening again.
I am fascinated by the criteria you are using. I am sorting out polish now. I am picking brand, finishes then intensity as the salient factors. I don’t have as many brands or sheer numbers to deal with. I am not judging you ❤ Thank you Hilary ❤
I saw Miss Glamorazzi do a video more than 10 years ago showing her nail polish collection in an over the door shoe holder and that’s how I’ve stored mine ever since.
This has been a fun ride to go on with you. A monumental task that you just powered through. You almost inspire me to do the same, but I am mediocrely motivated.
This was a great series, thank you for filming it. I have to do something similar with my own: I bought a new Helmer (my 4th) and a purge is coming my way as well. Can't wait but oof, it's gonna take a lot out of me lol.
Every time I see Pinnacle Polish I think of Elevation Polish. It's gotta be the mountains, Elevation had mountains on their bottles, too, if I'm remembering correctly.
Oh I just got to the end where you ask what we do with ours. Mine is by finish: cream, jellies, stamping, magnetic, color changing (thermal/solar), toppers, then a big Other category, which is all the other fun finishes (multichrome, holo, reflective, shimmers, combos, etc). Then, each category is in rainbow order, which for me is white, gray, pink, red, orange, gold/yellow, green, teal, blue, purple, black, brown. You actually convinced me to do a polish declutter too and I'm thinking of filming it. Thanks for sharing your journey and inspiring me!! :) :) :)
I use wall racks for mine in color families from light to dark. If I sorted by brand & had drawers, I'd put dividers between brands to make it easier to add bottles.
Omg. I read some articles about the gen Zs not showing feet. I had no idea how deep that went. I guessed correctly but wow. I am stunned. So many thoughts. Seems so over the top irrational .... however.... sigh.. just ack! Creepy people ruin everything!
I purely sort by color. I have 244 polishes and 6 drawer unity thingies I got from the container store. I have red (11) pink (32) orange (11) and brown (3) together, gold (2) yellow (15) green (26) and the greener teals (7), the bluer teals (4) and blue (48), purple (36) black (6) gray (4) white (7) and silver (6) together. Toppers have their own drawer there's simply too many with a lot of different colors lol. The other drawer has like magnets and stuff.
I tried to sort by colour and I HATED IT. I have 125 polishes and even then by colour I couldn’t deal with things not fitting together properly 😂 I went back to by brand after a week
No judgement or anxiety 😊 with multichrome polishes do you do base color? Or just more prominent color? I'm just getting my first drawer for my polish yipeeeeee 😮
My 7yo is a huge hard boiled egg fan, too. Though she'll often toss the yoke and just eat the white. She is such a picky eater, I'm just glad I can get her to eat anything! 😂 Have as many hardboiled egg whites as you want, baby girl.
I could never go colour order. First, I have almost 800 each of Emily de Molly and KBShimmer. I'd never find what I'm looking for. But also, where do I put the green base that looks red because the shimmer is so strong? The multichromes? The light purple that looks blue leaning when I put it with the pinks but pink leaning when I put it with the blues? My ordering system would make no sense to anyone but me. My favourite brands that I have hundreds of first. Then Aussie indies, Aussie brands that can only be bought online, Aussie drug store (or as we call it, chemist) then all the other indies that are sorted by bottle shape and then alphabetical by brand before moving on to the next shape (which means I have brands like Vanessa Molina in different drawers) then "misc" which is a mix of drug store and online brands (I guess boutique? Is Smith & Cult and ella+mila boutique?) and then finally, mainstream. It's organised chaos. I wish I could sort by colour though, it's so satisfying to look at.
Do you ever worry that the drawers will fall out if you open them too much? I hate how far forward the tabs are to secure them, but I also worry about my clumsiness!
