Amazing, You’re a champion for the masses and those voices being silenced and ignored. You are a true and just Representative of the People. Thank you.
Thank you AOC for reaching out and attempting to take on Big Oil for all injustices they have done to the Indian Nations. Please continue to do good works for them, for they literally have no one on their side. We stand with you in this fight for the Indian Nations.❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
Indigenous people everywhere should be benefiting from the royalties on gas water solar and any other capitalist venture that destroys the land, air and water.
The amount of methane gas that escapes due to fracking, not to mention the abuse of the limited water resources is really outrageous. And after oil and gas wells dry up, very little is done to clean up the mess that is left over......

What? Do you mean that there are Representatives who actually try and do things for the public good instead of spouting sound bites to progress their own political careers?
Thank you for addressing this. I did not grow up with the heritage, but my Grandmother Ruth was born on the Sisseton Wahpeton Reservation. I have followed these issues.
How about just being a human being and understanding how to respect people's land that was violated and caused harm. This isn't about being American and have DNA of both Native and pre revolutionary war - descendants of earlier British and French settlers.
@@WeylandLabs American doesn't refer to genetics. Being american is a virtue, a title for the greatness and excellence. Being American is being proud this identity because it embodies the ideals to be proud of. So saying to be "just a human being" misses this point entirely. It is our duty as Americans to do the right things and that is the point, to uphold our American values and do the right thing.

@@alrightyoreilly19 "lowers the price of gas" Thats questionable, the gas price could easily be lowered and the gas companies would still make billions. Saying it would lower the price is nothing but a talking point so that they can do any amoral shit they want for profit.
@@andreaskarlsson5251 These Communist, MSNBC left-tards don't understand what it means to be a business owner or what a day hard work actually is. They just want someone else to do the work and demand anything they want for free. To drill for oil you must put up millions of capital, take out massive loans, work an 80 hour work week in a dangerous environment in the middle of nowhere, just to have the Gov on one hand demand more and more oil for less and less, while on the other hand taxes you death and openly telling you they want to eliminate your line of work in 10 years for windmills and solar panels. Those businesses are entitled to their profit before their jobs are eliminated and due to their hard work they put in and the financial risk taken. Kick rocks COMMY!
I find it puzzling, whenever Company CEOs are exposed in a congressional hearing for their disregard of individual, environment, or property rights, nothing comes of it, other then slapping the company with a pittance of a fine from millions that they raked in.
I think it’s similar to the reason why it’s difficult to lay off emergency workers, no one wants to be accused of fault for not having enough workers or energy? I support the indigenous peoples but this happens to all peoples.
Unfortunately, if the penalty for a business breaking the law is a fine thats a fraction of what was made by breaking the law, its not a fine. Its a retro-investment.

As a Native American, I thank you so much. No one representative, no one cares. Our people are being trafficked murdered and our land still taken away. I think you for speaking for us
*_It's not a lack of caring that keeps us from reaching out, it's ignorance of who to trust to use any donated money with honesty & wisdom. It's ignorance about what else we can do to help, who to talk to, & who to partner with. It's also fear that in trying to help, we might commit cultural offenses._* I care. My family cares. More people care than you know. Yet when we speak out to our individual Representatives, our voices are too few...and we are put off with platitudes. Can *you* tell us who can we trust to let us truly help? Who we can trust to guide us in reaching out to help the original custodians of this land? You all were our original neighbors...but we do not know how can we find & reach out to you. From the western border of Connecticut, I probably can't bring you a casserole or do some grocery shopping for you when you are ill. I cannot take care of your pets & house if you are traveling for a while. I cannot make a quilt for a child or someone grieving, to comfort them if I don't know of their need & cannot find them. In big things or little ones, our ignorance betrays us. Our fear that we'll do something offensive betrays us. Our shame about what our Government has already done & keeps doing betrays us. Each of these are lead weights holding us back. So many of us are stuck in place -- feeling *increasing* shame for not helping. So for whatever good it does, remember that some of us _do_ care. We _want_ to reach out. _You are _*_not_*_ alone_ in your pain. _You are _*_not_*_ the only one_ who's body clenches up when we hear about *_yet another_* injustice being perpetrated against Indigenous peoples. The media shows you a spill so Democrats can say......OIL BAD.....but they never show how much oil travels thru pipelines safely every year.

I think that solar and wind farms should be built on reservations (where appropriate), with members of the tribes given first shot at training and employment to install and maintain them, with other local companies that have the expertise training and supervising until the reservations have all the expertise they need to keep it going. The electricity can run everything the people need, and excess sold to the grid to fund maintenance and new projects.

The cultural heritage of indigenous people in North America needs to be respected and their treaties should be honored. Land is all they want for their continued existence but it must be usable not contaminated or deadly to live on.
It's a little late to begin honoring the treaties, but there are definitely things that can be done for the good of Native communities today with the leadership of thoughtful representatives like AOC who recognize the value of actually having Natives at the negotiating table so their voices can be heard instead of being TOLD what they want.
What are you talking about? When a private company spills a chemical they have to clean it. So if a oil company has spilled oil they are required to pay the expense to clean it up. Are you saying the oil company doesn't follow the law on Indian land?
The representative from the oil company almost told the truth, but then she defaulted to reading the company talking points. It’s terrible to watch someone lie for others, knowing how many Native people are impacted
THANK YOU AOC for standing up for the native american people. I am very happy to see this. It is time to help all native americans not keep discriminating against them. Wado.
Every time I hear "Republicans and Democrats are the same".... I am reminded just how different they are when Democrats like AOC do this. I realize Democrats are not perfect, nor are they all good people, but uh,,, the parties are not the same.
My heart is sad that Native Americans are still being wronged to this day. The oil and gas industry needs to transition and compensate workers and landowners plus damages. God Bless AOC.
This discourse is a breath of fresh air compared to the vitriol that is spewed daily by Republican members of the House. It takes an intelligent person to speak with such clarity and stay on point.
Every time I see Rep AOC during question time, I find myself thinking, 'Oh, so someone does remember how to be civil, empathetic, well informed and intelligent in a Congressional hearing... That's great to know - and see!" Please continue this great work representing people who are being irreparably harmed, and setting a high standard that every person in Congress should follow. 👏👏👏
Need to pressure Biden to stop drilling permits entirely as well, like the willow project, we have alternatives, we have to be more vocal, transition away from car reliant infrastructure, towards walkable biking cities with affordable housing, with trains for far distance travel, and clean energy vehicles. Highly recommend watching "Not just bikes" videos and "Adam Something," both are very good and discuss about these topics.
Have you been to a city in the USA? Do you know how long it would take to ride a bike across a city? Cars are already very clean. Trains would hugely reduce the need for people to use cars at all, but most towns/cities are afraid to properly set it up.

So what happens to these Oil Corporations and their CEO's ? How about these pipelines be installed in wealthy, white , gated communities and not Native Reservations or low income housing areas or farmland ?
This is what being progressive means. Pure and simple it means working towards a solution together and fairness for everyone.
