Great review and comparison. We have more handle options being prototyped for those who are buying the REP SSB. Until then, gripping thick knurled handles is already pretty damn good. Happy squatting everyone!
@@davidgoss3632 An Open Trap Bar and a SSB are two very different pieces... IMO, a SSB, Open Trap Bar, and Cambered Swiss Bar are all worth purchasing. Personally, I've got some lingering wrist and shoulder issues, and all 3 of those bars have helped me a lot. I use them all consistently week in week out.
@@dustinmcd91 Fixed. Small number of SSBs had a few issues, and we've put additional parameters in place. We already do quite extensive inbound and outbound QC/QA on first runs.
Thanks for your fast reply, I was looking to add another bar to the gym and just thought that biggest bang for the buck could be the open trap bar and squatting with it might give a similar training effect to an SSB (despite being very different bars). Thanks again!
I don't think you can go wrong with either the SS Yoke, REP SSB, or a Titan SSB v2. But I agree, REP's is probably the best overall option. Great review, Gluck!
I’ve had my Titan V2 bar for 3 years, I bought it back when they were only $200. Had zero issues with it. I would no doubt buy the Rep bar now if I was in the market. I agree with you I won’t buy another bar that has a black zinc finish, that’s what my Rogue Ohio bar has and hasn’t held up well. Thanks for the review!
Yet another great video! My take aways. 1) Your comparison videos are the best out there 2) squats suck… all be it, necessary 3) your shirt was waaay too loose 😂
Good stuff man. I just received the Titan v2 ssb, and so far so good. I'm enjoying it. My body mechanics makes it very hard for me to front squat, despite having a decent back squat. So the ssb is a nice middle ground. Love your guy's channel
I was able to get the titan bar for 230 shipped. Part of me wishes that I waited for Reps but after this review, I legit cannot complain at all. I'm waiting for my rack to be delivered because I honestly cannot wait to use it
I have the first Titan SSB bar and it does angle my Jay cups out. My rack actually comes from grind Fitness wish you would never checked any of their racks on your video and I like that that means they're not so prevalent in the industry that they can sell racks at a great price and stay under your radar I love your videos though Gluck I still got to get my Camber bar and that will be it no I'm actually going to buy a deadlift bar and I'm going to get that from Valor Fitness
Got super lucky and picked up a used Titan SSB that I don't think had ever been used by the owners 2 days ago. First time using any SSB and it's definitely going to take some getting used to. Perhaps the next video can be an SSB technique video???? and I am in no way requesting that to make you do more squats - LOL Great comparison of the bars and always enjoy the content.... getting close to 20k subscribers!!!!
I have the SS3 and I really love it. Live in Canada and we didn't had any real options before rep came in... But seriously, the SS3 is a great one. Btw, it's balanced, at least on mine, IF you have the chain attachment. Thanks for the video, you quickly became the best and the most professional of all even if your competitors went "think big way".
Just what I was looking for. My rep SSB should come in a couple of weeks. rep is killing it this year. Also may have to pull the trigger on the ares for the pr 4000
My knee jerk reaction was to question why the EliteFTS Yoke Bar wasn't included in this list, but you headed that off with your comments about how each company improved upon (subjective to each user, I know) the design in some manner. You gotta get a hold of the original Hatfield Bar and compare that. It'd make for fun watching. I've used both and have opinions, but it'd be interesting to see what your experience will be, especially the part where you explain to your wife why you're spending even more money on yet another bar,. and an old one at that. Also, future video suggestion: compare rackable open trap bars?
Great video. I’m not currently in the market for a safety squat bar but I will probably do the Marrs bar when I do. It seems like it might be just bit easier on my lower back.
Great review y’all. Titan’s Titan series SSB just seems like it was rushed. I mean why rush and release a worse version of one of your most well regarded products? Idk but Rep’s looks very very nice. I appreciate the breakdown!
Excellent take. I own both the BOS and Titan's v2 and i agree with giving titan the nod here. Now you're tempting me to make a poor decision and purchase the rep bar as well 😂
I personally prefer the plastic handles only because in the winter, those knurling handles is going to hurt my hands loll. if it isn't cold knurlings are great.
I got the Bells SSB3 back in 2020 and they only gave me one set of handles, the long ones. I wasn't even aware until now that they were supposed to send the other pairs lol
Thinking of replacing my Titan SSB with the BoS SS3. The extra handles are a definite plus and the shorter length would help considering I had to downsize my home gym and move it into a smaller room. That, and I already have their Arch Nemesis, Open Trap, and short curl bars lol
If I didn't have the titan V2 I would likely get the rep followed by BOS... I like the idea of BOS changeable handles but likely won't swap them and the rep knurling would win me over
They've been shipping them they just keep selling out. Mine wasn't even one of the first batches. I don't love the pre order system but it hopefully eventually they catch up.
I think you should’ve included the elite FTS SS yoke bar in the video as well. It’s the best option. While I generally agree with your premise of only buying Titan brand when on sale. The same can be applied to elite FTS as well. Who run sales frequently. The American made Titan SSB is $300 + taxes with free shipping. Guessing tax was $30. So call it $330 shipped. Elite FTS regularly offers $100 off of their SS yoke bar. I waited until it was on sale and the SS yoke bar was shipped to my door for $383. So for basically a $50 difference + patience you can have the best SSB available. The Titan V2 could be a good deal if it’s less than $250 shipped. Otherwise, why not get the real deal? I’m 0 for 2 with Rep and have demoted them to almost junk category. I have bells of steel bumper drop pads but probably wouldn’t buy anything metal from them. How many are going to buy the inferior product based on recommendations only to sell them to turn around to buy the better product? Buy once, cry once.
No love for the OG EliteFTS Yoke bar? Yes, I know the clearcoat chips, but Dave Tate is still the only person to design this bar, abuse it for years, and then correct any functional issues before releasing it to market. He claims his pad is designed specifically to break in over time so the bar sits exactly at the right spot on your shoulders for optimum angles with camber etc. I highly doubt Rep/Titan/BoS have done any of that, according to an older Coop review, the padding is definitely different than these seem to be using. I bought my Yoke bar on sale for $335 shipped, so it's certainly in the same price point as these when it's on sale at least.
Man I need to do reviews like you. You have alot of nice stuff. Either you get it by making videos or spend helllllaaa money on it!! But your content is awesome btw!!
I live from paycheck to paycheck and have to save for months for a bar or anything really, you have a budget most people can only dream of, so I find it funny when you say "on a budget" or "cheaper" or "affordable" ! lol!
Understandable but this was build by working 2 jobs and has taken years. I teach full time so that money provides for my family and everything I make doing this goes back into the gym. I also joke something to the extent of "if you can all any of these budget bars" but none are cheap, completely agree. The unfortunate reality of social media is titles have to be picked to get people to click and while it's an accurate title it's wasn't my first idea for one.
great great video . love the jokes love cake . the edits graphics and skits were great . keep up the great work . love the videos. cant wait for your next bench giveaway
I totally understand this was a "budget" comparison, but I recently purchased the Marrs Bar and it's as amazing as everyone says. If the Marrs bar interests you, its worth saving up for.
I think most people use the BOS SS3 upside down - with the camber and weight pointing backwards. I use it where it points to the front and it's 90 degrees perpendicular to my body when i let the handle rest naturally on my shoulder. It's much more stable that way.
@@GlucksGym Ha, I just saw that in your BoS showroom tour video. I currently have the Edge SSB I bought years ago, so Im not completely SSB-less, so I shall wait and see what they come out with. Any idea when it'll be out?
That's tough. Rep's is definitely the better bar so if you can swing it I'd go there but performance wise they're close. I do think Rep's will probably last longer over time but it might not really matter if you're not using it constantly.
@@GlucksGym wow a reply from a youtube celeb, feeling blessed today🥰 Feel like at this discount it's like enough to make up for titan's shortcomings but not so much that its the obvious choice... pray for me and my family to come to the right decision
Great review, feed the algorithm nosh-nosh-nosh. FWIW, I have Dave Tate’s version aka the original. I got it after a complete rupture of the supraspinatus in my right shoulder and couldn’t get my arms positioned for any kind of straight bar squat. For all I knew, I’d never squat with a straight bar again, but that bar kept me squatting until after about a year when my shoulder mobility somewhat returned and I could use the straight bat again.
