For what you're using to restore the painted areas, you are doing it right. No need to spend big on POCA or Molotow acrylic paints/pens/markers. Keep those overheads down and keep on bringing these classics back to life. Cheers Ronnie 😊
Maybe for the letters you can get a small vinyl cutter and make yourself stencils for them? That way you can figure out what fonts they are, measure them and then make yourself cutouts of what needs replaced and add them. You could even add the curves on things that are curved and stuff. Just an idea, shouldnt be too difficult to set up and would work pretty well.

This started out looking like the Charlie Brown Christmas tree, and you've really brought out the full luster of the finish! I can honestly say I've never had so much fun watching paint dry! Merry Christmas to Ron, Joe, and everyone at your shop.
As a fellow lefty and pinball playfield restorer...i hate letters too. I use the same techniques and its always fun to see it come together. Looks great!
First off…Merry Christmas Ron!!! Secondly… I have been waiting for you to take this bad boy on for awhile. This game is one of the best “one more game” machines that have ever existed. I would lose quarters quick and then pull off a three times multi-ball game and it would all be worth it. The paint job you pulled off on this was incredible! I wish there was RU-vid, and a channel like yours 35 years ago, when I started in electronics. Now that I’m retired I’ve learned more in the past six months on how to troubleshoot to component level then ever. Helps with my nixie tube projects. Thanks.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I know you got playfields in the back, run a piece of blue painters tape right down the center, restore one half ONLY, pull off painters tape and hang on wall of your store. best advertisement ever. Thanks as always for posting and sharing.
The part where You put tiny, creative blobs onto space to make it look like a bubbling lava lamp looked like it was the most fun! Thank You for saving epic space from the 70's. You did a really good job! Merry Christmas!
It's a Christmas Miracle! I always cringe so much watching your painting, but somehow you pull it off and the end result always looks great. Anyone who wouldn't be as pleased as punch to have that system in their rec room needs their priorities adjusted.

Great job painting. The planet looks better than the original. Matching the original lettering is impossible, I suggest using a Cricut to cut out vinyl letters, then stick them on the board. I use this technique for electronic panel lettering. It looks very close to silk screen. Way better than hand lettering.

Merry Christmas Ron and Joe! Thanks for entertaining me (us) through another year of insanity. Keep doing what you're doing best. I don't care if you're doing a low, medium or high restoration. You're making a game usable, and not letting it go to the trash heap, that's the most important.
Great job repainting -- for letters, you could use something like a Cricut to make letters to transfer onto the playfield, use them as a mask and then paint around them and peel 'em off

Wonderful result. For the text you could try applying the lettering with dry transfer lettering? The other thought I had was using a craft cutter to cut out the letters and then you could spray paint the black using the cut out letters as a mask - like how letters are applied to shipping crates etc. The last last thought would be really cool if you could use one of those handheld inkjet printers. That would be the bees knees but I bet it's a pain to get proficient.
I've never noticed this before, but 'Jolly Old Saint Nichoas' sounds kind of like 'Puff The Magic Dragon' when you take the lyrics away. Now I cannot unhear it.
once again, fantastic work, yes you can really be proud of your work! MERRY CHRISTMAS! As no one had the will or interest to repaint worn areas of my Star Trek playfield (I offered good money), I now bought acrylic paint (these pens I tried in 2020 were crap) and will do it myself now. I hope I don't screw it up haha

Killed it on this one Ron. One suggestion that could have been a nice compromise, would have been using a plus sign + instead of writing the word PLUS out on those spinner values and multipliers. Easier and still communicates the info. Merry Christmas to you and Joey and Donnie.
These are old classic machines. If you made the playfield perfect it would look artificial and wrong. I like it close to original as possible. Great work!

Sure, it might not be perfect.... but you don't have 40 years to work on it... I think it looks 10,000 times better than the big scuff mark across the middle of the game... Good color match, looks good to me!
it is Much, Much, Much Better.... the single item that has made it look Much Better is cleaning the play field... (yes I know the other items were more important in making it live again... but the visual part is very important also)
