Where on earth did that 20 minutes go? I was totally engrossed in watching. As always, such a shame when your videos come to the end, Rick. Can hardly wait for the next episode. Oh, and so glad you were able to get your data recovered. I guess you will have at least one backup now. Stay safe and well and greetings from London, England to you, your family and everyone watching.

You have a wonderful country! My wife and I spent a few weeks just wondering around on our own there. Isle of Wight, The Cotswolds, Kent, London, Stonehenge, Jurassic coast etc.What fun. We hope to come back some day.

@@TheLuminaryShoppe That is wonderful Rick. Yes, the Isle of Wight is amazing. So much to see and do in a very small island. And of course, it was the site of the first discovery of dinosaurs which is celebrated in a dedicated museum. As for London, I am biased because I was born here and have lived here most of my life except when I was in the army. But London is a place full of exciting places to see and things to do. I never tire of it and go out most weekends with my camera. Well, when we are not in Covid-19 Lockdown of course. I hope you do get back over one day. In the meantime, keep making those wonderful videos.

So glad you got your data back. Looking forward to seeing what was recovered plus new stuff. Quick question about punching the vent holes: I see you used an old wrench between the punch and the brass. Was that to keep the punch from imprinting the brass around the hole to be punched? Thanks again Rick!
@tomt9543
@tomt9543 3 года назад
I thought it might be used as a die stripper to push the brass off of the punch without deforming it. Anxious to find out for sure!
@TheLuminaryShoppe
@TheLuminaryShoppe 3 года назад
Yup, the Rotex punch isn't equipped with a stripper. That old flat wrench works great.

Wondering about the rationale for using the tin snips to trim the spinnings versus using the big shear. Was it that there wasn’t enough clearance to the raised part? Perhaps something like a Beverly shear would be useful in such cases?
@TheLuminaryShoppe
@TheLuminaryShoppe 3 года назад
The crown formed by the spinning goes all the way to the edge of the piece. The shear would flatten it while the snips allow it to remain. A Beverly shear would be overkill on the light metal of these pieces. Thanks for watching!

The lathe was made by E.O. Grabo specifically as a spinning lathe. Probably produced in the 1940's. I'll try to explain more in later spinning vids. Thanks for watching!

To make sure the indexing is set. Better than ruining at punch and die.
