Nintendrew: "A loose copy of Nintendoland sells for around $7" Me: *Looking at my GameStop receipt from when I bought a used, CIB (with a flawless box) copy of Nintendoland for $1 last year*
@@zabtronics I just got lucky, besides, that GameStop shut down a few months after I bought the game. Granted, there were 4 locations next to each other so it made no sense to keep them open anyways
A re-released/re-imagined Wii U gamepad would be a great way to bring DS games to the switch. Would be good with Mario maker and probably a few other switch games. Love this kind of fixing video.
I still have my Wii U that I got for my birthday back in July 2015. Still works perfectly and is in excellent condition, except for some dust. I don't play it too much anymore since I just got the switch OLED. I am going to buy all the virtual console games on my wish list for it before they shut it down.
great to see some repair videos, with the retro game market climbing in price it makes much more sense and more economical to buy old stuff like this to try to fix up. Not only is it nice on your wallet but with all the spare time your bound to learn something new. Great video :)
In Berlin we have a tradition/Kultur of leaving unwanted things on the sidewalk or beside the front door "zu verschenken", to take. At worst, it's literal garbage that that for whatever reason wasn't taken to the bin. At best, it's real useful stuff. 3 of the chairs I have in my flat came off the street. I like to have the skills to repair electronics because my stereo also came zu verschenken because a switch had stopped working. All that needed was some cleaning of the contacts and now a €95 stereo is sitting on my shelf! As things are getting smaller and made from increasing numbers of black blobbed chips, it's getting harder. Those tight, tiny ribbon cables are frustrating! Having these skills are useful, though. There's still a lot of joy in older products and they can be had for toy prices now.
@@alepepperoni2563 yeah, I had to "curb alert" all my stuff before moving here. Zu verschenken can be anything from leather couches (too heavy to take by myself) to literal rags. Even in Chicago, we had nothing like this. It was all the usual CL stuff or dumpster diving.
A game store I visit regularly gave me a broken vita. The issue was that the square button didn't work. Ordered the part and now I have a playstation vita that I only spent $20 on when the system goes for $200
I bought a black 32gb deluxe wii U with a copy of minecraft and a smashed gamepad screen for 20 dollars (cad) and the new screen which is on it's way cost me 35,55 dollars is not bad for a wii U at all
Back when funcoland was a thing we got our first nes from there and I discovered Kirby the exact same way, they left it in there and it was so awesome cuz we never would have bought it otherwise but other than metroid it was the best game
It's crazy how expensive Wii U are ! In France, you can have them for less than 100€ or even less than 60€ if the listing has been poorly made (confusing a regular Wii and a Wii U).
I just love the Wii U's general aesthetic. I know it's not a popular opinion but the switch to me is the worst and cheapest feeling nintendo console. Really wish the Wii U had succeeded.
Damnit i had this problem and i didn't want to take it apart so i shook it and that what happened then whenever i changed the date it make a blue light of death what the hell happened i need help
As much as I like the DIY projects there are some points in the video that does not really make sense. Such as doing all the cosmetic stuff before you even ensure the console was fixed. Worst case you use up material for polishing a nice piece of junk :( Always ensure the device is working FIRST! Then put it back together Then cosmetics Then test again. Every other order is not reccomended at all!
When presenting for RU-vid, sometimes a little creative editing is necessary for flow. 😉 In my case, I knew the Wii U was working before ever opening the case, but I did still double check my work off-camera. Actually, when recording, I repaired the gamepad first! Thanks for watching. 😄
I've always wanted to get into Video Game console/games repair and restoration but there's so many uncertainties and scary about it. Do I really wanna invest the money into something I don't have much experience about? I have absolutely *no* experience in selling things so how would I know if I'm selling something for a right price? How would I know if my work is exceptional enough to warrant a price that I give it. Box restorations *are* possible but very scary and one mess up could ruin the entire thing. So how would I be able to feel confident in taking on... Say... An expensive boxed game like... I dunno a LTTP. I can do basic stuff like swap out bad components but soldering is completely beyond my current abilities. Just some thought dumping.
Nice, can't believe what a bargain that was. The Wii U is such a gem, if I could only have a single non-current gen console that one takes the cake for its versatility.
I wonder if you could swap the fan with a quieter one (Noctua comes to mind), since it looks like a standard size PC/server fan size. EDIT: using the photo on the link, I found the part number (it's a nidec 40*40*20 mm chassis fan), and I think that a standard PC fan could fit here like a Noctua A4x10 (although that's half the thickness of the official one)
You could swap it. The only thing to beware of is that the connector won't be the same (I'm assuming here, but that's a frequent issue) and the layout of the wires won't be the same. So you'd have to find out which wires on the old fan are power, ground, tach, pwm) and match that up with the new fan. I have a big box of various dell server and PC fans and they all have to be rewired before I put them in a PC, Dell (like other manufacturers) purposely change the orientation of the wires around to stop the average user from buying an off the shelf fan... But if you can splice or repin the wires in the right order, it will work.
This was cool! I definitely want to see you fix more game things in the future. I just don't get why the people you bought it from didn't notice the fan right away. I had a laptop that would overheat when I tried to play MMOs for too long, and ever since then, I've always taken care to make sure my electronics don't get too warm.
I had to open my Wii U gamepad as it's screen broke. It was kind of hard with the small ass wires that I'm not used to dealing with on teardowns, but eventually did it after 2 hours. I hope to never have to do that again.
fans generally do that whole stop functioning and start thing when the bearing are going out a good way to test is if you assist the fan in turning and it starts spinning then its the bearing in it going bad. So I guarantee you the fan would have stopped again if that were the case.
Just got clickbaited... where's the repair? the Wii U was just overheating and the internal fan started working after a while.. so Nintendrew more like Clickbaitdrew
Omg, I bought a used Wii U and I just finished cleaning the whole set entirely, it was really tough, and now I see you manage to get to the screen so easily, I was thinking on replacing the whole screen because it has some scratches but now I think is only the touch screen part, wow you're video had saved me some money, I really appreciate that mate.
Yo nintendrew (or anyone that happens to see this and has repaired wii u's) I ordered 3 Wii U's for parts, one of them im noticing the fan is actually put on backwards but it does not appear to have been opened so idk if its a nintendo mistake or not, is it okay if i leave it that way and have air blow into the console or should i put it to where air blows out like yours and the other 2 Wii U's?
@7:03 NINTENDREW: But because this gamepad was already a bargain at only 30 bucks, I figured I didn't have much to lose ME: I don't even have that amount in my wallet
I Own a Wii u, It came new, with MarioKart 8 (The Wii U usually comes with one downloaded games, ) It still works, but the Gamepad Does not have a good battery, (Most do have that problem)
@nintendrew need help. Nintendo could jot help and I cant find help on internet either. Fired up Wii U to this message “There is a problem with the disc drive” error code: 160-1400 Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
My Wii U also came with a Digital copy of MK8 and my Wii U had the Blinking light problem and it was very scary but My older brother told me it was because it was over heating because the fan was sucking in Dust because all fans of Consoles spin inward
Nintendrew, would you like to fix my Wii for me? It won't power on, and I have a feeling the motherboard is fried. The catch: the person who attempted to fix it for me did not bother to put it back together, so now it's in a box, just loose parts.
How he repairs: saved over 100 dollars How I repair: it only did a few scratches and a bunch of cables snapped and spending over 300 dollars just to fix the the power button
I bought my system years ago. I didn't notice at 1st but, the ear phone jack was damaged. Does nintendo still have a trouble shooting guide for the wii U ?
Luckily right now a lot people have been selling these Wii u’s w/game pads for $60 and less. Sometimes you get lucky and find a game in the console too ;)
Can you do fix a Nintendo switch video plz? Otherwise nice video too. And if I find this I would just pass it like I never saw it. 3:23 before you said I would say dust it to be sure dish all gone. But this way would be funnier.
Geez if I could only send you my broken Wii U. I don't live in America and I can't seem to find anyone I trust to fix it. It does have my account and a bunch of unfinished game saves on it
I used to have a white wiiU that had a really weird problem. It wouldn't boot up properly when turning it on for the first time each day. But after restarting it it would work for the rest of the day...
Hello i need help plz my wii u console dont synchronisate the gamepad no symboles appear on the tv screen when i clic on the red bouton for the seconde time a message appear on the tv screen an error has accured turn off the wii u console... ( So the console dont synchronisate the gamepad)
We have a old wii u also and had the same problem but used a diffrent solution instead of magic happing, we just the end of a paintbrush and spun the fan for it
At least that one wasn't bricked mine acted strange and tried to factory reset it it acted weird and suddenly it won't desplay anything like at all no error screen anything which sucks.
oh man, this brings back memories, I once took apart my Gamepad because the rumble motor was squeaking had to replace it with one from a broken wiimote
