In this video, I take you through my new (to me) Clark Michigan 125A wheel loader. What it needs, what it has (and hasn't), and my upcoming plans for the beast.

I have an extra 4-71 engine for it if you are interested. I have one of these loaders with an old GMC V6 gas engine in it

I have a few of those machines in my collection and are not disappointed. Clark was ahead of the curve with the torque converter drive system and is important to keep the oil clean and cool during operation. That's probably the Detroit 4V53 or 4V53T if it has a turbo. As far as milky oil, it could be from moisture depending on how long it sat and if it is leaking coolant, it's all o-ring seals unless it is a cracked liner. The blower should have a manual shutdown in case of a run away condition. Is this a 12 or 24 volt system? Starter won't engage if not correct voltage

The batteries are wired in parallel so it's set up on 12V. I found it odd that it wasn't 24V given the amount of current needed to turn the huge flywheel. I wonder if that's why the generator rarely engages as well... I'll flip through the manuals to see if I can verify the voltage. If I can't, maybe I'll just try converting it to 24V and see what breaks...

4-53 or 4-53T, no V
