Heres a small video on a repair I had to do. Somewhere on my trips around the coast something has poked a hole through the factory cover plate and into the engine, at first i thought it may have just had too much oil put in from the service it had and was just dripping out the bleed hole but after a week of a very slow oil drip i decided to take the cover plate off and have a look under it. Woodzman has done a video for an aftermarket bash plate that looked very good but I hadn’t gotten around to getting one yet and unfortunately have learned the lesson the hard way.
Heres what I did/used.
Used some CRC mag wheel cleaner that I had which has degreasing properties to clean the area.
Sanded the area where the epoxy was going to stick.
Used some Metal putty/epoxy filler to fill the hole, sets in a hour and can be sanded smooth.
After my ride to and from work today looks fine, solid as a rock and no leak. The epoxy filler was on special for $8 so over all was a good cheap fix. I may look at getting it tidied up when it next gets serviced but might not need to.
