We get that down on our little block near the river, I don't know either. My guess is it's a mixture of dry, and generally deficient in all elements? Due partly to the soil structure? Thats handy to get free fertiliser! Nice crop too!
I’m on catch up with your posts ,my guess with patchy grass ,with the rain you had after planting it must of washed the best top soil /fertility to the lower parts of the field ,Dirty water will get it going . In our part of the world potash is just as important as N and there’s usually some in Dirty water .I love the loo with the view 😂
For the irrigater pipe we use lay flat in the UK, leaks are fixed by putting a sleeve on it No harm cutting a new grass, just grazing is good to make it tiller Maybe do a soil test
