The crackling audio could also be because the USB audio capture might need to be unplugged, then plugged back in. Sometimes live streamed audio experiences this. I call it "psyloning".

I’m not current on static charge … 😅 Why do you not use a grounding strap when you work? ✌🏼

Generally, you never use a grounding strap when working in the high voltage parts of a device. I'm talking 100 volts and above. So, don't use grounding straps when fixing the CRT area of an iMac G3, eMac or even SE/30. If it's low power, like 5 volts, and it's just the logic board you're working on, then go right ahead and use one.
