well, this is EXACTLY my experience (about 15 years ago here in Germany). Sadly, they severely lack in the wetsuit department since at least 2010, but my LIDL "Pegaso" wetsuit set from 2008 survived more than 600 dives and is still in relatively in good shape. On the tool side of things, my PABSW 10.8 A1 battery drill from 2013 (at that time ACTUALLY "made by Einhell", i.e. "Imported from Taiwan / China" by Einhell) still survives to the present day after a whole house renovation. The reason I bought it at that time was that the complete drill set from LIDL cost as much as a second battery for another - at that time battery-wise compatible - Einhell tool I bought some weeks before. Which also survived everything I did with/to it since then. I also own a LIDL MIG welder and a plasma cutter and am reasonably happy with them after some modifications, too. The new tools since at least 2020 are a lot more "quality diverse", but I think that is the case with almost any other non-professional brands, too.

Lidl''s Black series of tools (performance branded) gets you 5 year warranty, worst case if they can't fix your tool is, they will give you a new one or return the money. Better warranty than most professional brands tbh.

DIY'ers will only use a powertool occasionally. I can (and usually do) wear DeWalt/Milwaukee tools out, dead in about two years. I reckon a Parklife would be dead within a month of serious use - even their better ones.
@jernejloknar8011
@jernejloknar8011 13 дней назад
@@kevinchamberlain7928 It's meant for DIY use, but people will still try to redo entire house in a month and just abuse it regardless of brand. A typical example is people using a undersized drill to run a glue/plaster/paint mixer attachment instead of using a dedicated tool for that. Or using a vibrating hammer drill for drilling holes into concrete which should be done with a sds impact hammer drill. I do wonder how you kill a dewalt/milwaukee within 2 years - do you wear out bearings or gears?

Erbauer have upped their game in the last 2 years. Personally i would put them just in line after the big boys or dewalt , milwaukee, bosch , hikoki , makita and metabo. Ahead of evolution and ryobi in my opinion. I think Titan has some ground to make up but they are catering for the budget market in opposition to parkside and ferrex I think. Just my humble opinion from owning at least one of all these tools over that last 10 years.

The Parkside tools have been really popular here in Germany, loads of people buy them. Id say for a cheap tool brand they are the best you can buy honestly at the price point they sell these machines at you cant find anything better and at a higher price you might aswell just get the real deal aka a Bosch or Makita. At lest I have never really seen cheap tools as good as the Parkside tools. BUT I would NOT buy their cordless tools for sake of battery replacements and repairability. You have a higher chance getting more hours out of a corded machine and fixing it when it breaks. Brushes wear out, you can make something fit the brushholders. Switch can probably be replaced too by making a Bosch or Makita switch fit or buying the right switch off Aliexpress. Also I cant imagine their batteries are assembled with very high quality cells so I expect them to last half as long as a quality tool battery. Cant imagine Parkside using the same battery system for 10+ years and supporting legacy batteries. I have Bosch batteries from 2014 and they are still good, cant imagine a Parkside battery lasting more than ~5 years. Better off buying your most used tool from Makita with two batteries and expanding your tools by buying Mellif for example.

I once heard somewhere that in Germany there's actually a legal regulation that products sold as "tools" have to comply with certain standards of quality. How true this is, and whether there's any real difference to other European countries I don't know. One of the things I find most remarkable about the Parkside stuff is it's not just run of the mill knockoffs like you would expect but they actually have some fairly unique and well designed products as well as occasional specialist things like die grinders and Swedish pipe wrenches that you would never expect to find in a high street tool store, let alone your local supermarket

As a farmer I own a bunch of parkside tools and let me tell you I got my money's worth out of any one of them. Have the cordless angle grinder, a jigsaw, regular cordless drill and impact driver and 2 nut guns -one is completely falling apart, but still works (doesn't hammer very much, since the anvil and steel bush are very worn and wobbly). But they keep on working. The batteries last surprisingly well. Some were bought in 2017 and are still kicking solid. If you buy them for trade, you will only get 1 year warranty. (never had to return any of my tools, so that's saying something about longevity as well)

I wonder if you'd say the same things about new parkside tools. They're not getting much more expensive, and the reliability seems to be on a downward slope. Saws that can't hold an angle, grinders that stall out and that have push button electronic switches, impacts with random max torque depending on the unit, etc. I'm a fan but it seems their QC and engineering are very lean, to the detriment of producing products that last more than a year.

Ive never bought any for obvious reasons but I’d like to buy one as an experiment, to put what I’ve learnt from you into practice . I have a multi tester but don’t really know how to use it . I’m quite handy as I work part time in maintenance in a care home , I’m 70 by the way . I do electrical work changing light fittings, sockets , extractor fans but that’s just changing like for like . As a diy'er I used a parkside cordless drill 20v for mixing every batch of tile adhesive, every joist hole for pipes, every screw and drill hole in anything from doors to door frames and kitchen assembly to IKEA furniture. Even mixed concrete while waiting on the proper mixer to arrive. She sh*t the bed whilst driving 5*100 screws into 4*2 timbers for the shed. The switch melted, i whacked her and she kept going eventually failing with an almighty Guinness fart, smoke and she was no more. Drove back to shop got another one for €49. Have 5 batteries now. They're not as comfy as a DeWalt and lacks the power compared to most. However as an all rounder they work well for the money and if someone nicks it i wont worry compared to say a Makita being lifted

I have been using one of these in an above-average DIY capacity for over 13 years - probably an earlier model. It too had an erratic contact which I traced to close to the drill body. It was caused because the blow case, which is different from yours, is too small and required that the cable be bent very tightly, eventually causing a fracture in the cable. The clips on the case are too weak and need reinforcing. When the case is the only reason for complaint then the tool must be worth having.

Einhell is the parent company of Parkside, German of course. However, Draper is still Completely British owned. They have become distributors for a few small German outfits. But as we know, they're all made in China/Vietnam/Taiwan. I'm guessing that it's the quality control that's the main difference between the end products. Also luck of the draw!

@@bayadere8308 To my modest knowledge as a German owning Parkside, Einhell, Scheppach, Güde and some other brands hobbyist level power tools (and living somewhat near the german LIDL subsidiary (?) "Grizzly Tools" company near Aschaffenburg), LIDL stopped rebranding Einhell tools at least 10 years ago and started importing their tool range from exactly the same chinese or taiwanese companies all other brands I mentioned above already did 5-10 years earlier, thus cutting out the middle man and saving costs. Here in Germany and as a non-professional, in most cases you have the "choice" to get essentially the same tool with a little different shell design (and pricetag) from all of the above "manufacturers", which in reality are only China-importers with different levels of customer support. Alternatively, you buy Makita (somewhat reasonably priced new) or Festool second hand (sometimes surprisingly cheap from industry auctions). Alternatively, sometimes you can get Bosch blue or Metabo corded tools for a reasonable price. Battery-/pricewise, the Parkside X20V stuff is REALLY worth its money, and there are a LOT of adapters for most of the other relevant brands out there if you have a 3D Printer (or know someone who has one). I had no problems repowering an old DeWalt 14.4V NiCad Impact with a X20V-Battery adapter from Thingiverse for a friend some months ago, and it still survives "farm use" until today....

Parkside is a brand owned by Lidl. They slap it on tools sourced from various subcontractors. The Parkside tools marked as manufactured by "Grizzly Tools" seem to be mostly Einhell (who are also sourcing many of their tools from Chinese OEMs), and many of the better regarded tools are marked as made by Kompernass. The ones where the label doesn't mention either Grizzly or Kompernass are probably directly from some other Chinese OEM.
