I’m from USA I like, good old fashioned challenges. When I see a show about fixing cars here in the states, it gets boring, because they have the cash, and tools to replace the whole broken parts, sometimes, they weld it, but it’s still very advanced. I like this videos. Keep them coming.
Everything is Gangsta about this. Their skills are great but those super protective safety sandals are the cherry on the cake. I love these guys. Much respect.
@@saltycreole2673 These guys are way too "Gangsta" for OSHA. They don't follow that confusing feminized "gender neutral" BS trend, for they are still real man and aware it.
Speaking from experience nothing is as aggravating as having molten iron finding its way into a shoe or glove or your shirt, places that are enclosed and there is no way to get the hot stuff out. The number of times I've had it happen over the years and knowing I have to just wait for it to cool off against my skin. Loose clothing and open shoes you'd just flick the hot stuff out if it finds a place it should not be.
probably not much, since modern factory's require education and being able to do calculations and mathematics. All these repairs are done by eye which to be fair is just not giving you good quality. ESPECIALLY if the welded part is supposed to hold big loads... this axle is going to breakdown quick. If you want good quality your better off throwing the axle into furnace and making a new one.
love this kind of work I grew up working with lathe, milling machines welding etc; it's an everyday work in that industry, its a satisfaction when you fix or rebuild a part that was broken and you bring it back to like new a gain. 👍👍👍
Not really, any repair on a stress component is suspect. ODOT would never let this axle back on the road. It would be okay for a ranch truck that stayed off pavement & under 25 mph.
@@pvtimberfaller if the repair is done right with the right materials using the up-to-date science it will last longer than buying a new part made in China. I have repair many of this in the past and those trucks are still running in the roads.
The thickness of the leaf springs is surely to blame- they look double the thickness of normal ones, this tells me they add on leaves to the springs to add more capacity, but the axles dont follow and are overloaded.
true but as long as they let it cool slowly after the welding was done it should be fine, now if they hit it with some water to speed things up then look out lol
You wouldn't be the notorious killer "Red Dog" Melvin (from episode 7 of Season 1 from the 1967 Spiderman cartoon) that escaped from prison and ended up in Parafino's Wax Museum on 42nd Street now would you.
I see the previous repair. If a weld fails, it’s always next to the weld. That clearly can be seen at the beginning. The parent metal isn’t high quality and they never preheated the area. It will fail again. Nice work restoring the surfaces though!
The skills these people posess is incredible and with such basic tools,no technology whatsoever just skill and I applaud them for their determination in carrying out this type of work. To snap that axle casing like that must have taken some overload because they are designed for strength and in my 50years of repairing commercial vehicles I have NEVER seen a brake like that, the springs usually break long before the axle snaps. Here in the UK it would probably been a new axle casing because it would be considered cheaper than repairing it with hourly rates being so high. Congratulations to all concerned with this repair you really are Top People,I salute you 👍👍.
I enjoy that they are always safety conscious first detailed and use only the finest measuring devices. I'm sure that axle will have a few hundred miles of life left in it now...
I too, am very impressed with these videos. I love the colorful trucks that shows pride in ownership. The work they do that seems shoddy at first and ends up being above satisfactory in repair... and Hey.. even their kids are learning a skill... WIN!
Thank you so much, most of the workers here started learning when they were a kid. These kids support their family, not even get that much pay. Truck drivers owners love to decorate trucks & use colorful paints, wooden & steel pieces.
Great skills! Always good to watch them work. These people are essential for the country to progress. I'll request everyone to share the video they deserve some love ❤
This wasn't a "Make it look pretty and like new" repair. This was a "Make it work now!" repair. Several people probably depend on the truck that came from to earn their wages. It looks like this will last a while and if it breaks, it'll get fixed again.
