Update: I cleaned the head drum on the main VCR during editing. The tape works fine on it now. The VCR is just a tired old fella at this point. I talked about it in a video before...
I know these are probably stupid questions… But I’ll ask you anyway… 1. Why didn’t that first VCR you tried have a roof? 17:15 2. I have a VHS that won’t play properly. I think it’s been played too many times. Is there any way I can clean it? If so, do you know what I should use? Or should I just forget it exists and let it gather dust on my shelf? And if you’re wondering… No. I learnt nothing from watching you take Chad Valley apart and try to put it back together. 3. Do you know if anything would happen if I were to put an NTSC VHS in a PAL VCR? Great video btw. I watched the premiere… Unfortunately, my internet was bad and the premiere took a while to start… I got to the end of the video… Eventually…
1. I took it apart to clean it while capturing my TV recordings for MEGA. The room was dark, I accidentally stood on it and bent it so now it won't fit back on. Considering the thing's age, that's probably beneficial. It's now easier to clean the drums whenever the need a scrub. 2. If it doesn't play well anymore and is all static-y, chances are the tape has deteriorated from excessive use. It was a regular thing for analog videotape back in the day. Not much you can do with it beyond buy a new tape on eBay. 3. If your PAL VCR isn't NTSC compatible, it generally won't be able read the signal. At most, you'll get a scrolling image and a crappy audio signal, at worst just nothing happens. A PAL VCR usually says on the front if it supports NTSC Playback. If you find that on your player, you're good to go. Also, glad you enjoyed the video. Hope my answers help 😃

Kudos to you for fixing that tape. I wouldn't throw them about if I were you. If you want to jokingly make fun of a bad tape just post it into a pedal bin.
Justified comment there. In my defense, it was 7 in the morning when I filmed that bit in the "Taste of Cartoon Network" review. I am not joking on that bit. It had been scripted for weeks, but at that time of day, it never occurred to me to actually use a stunt tape... As for sticking it in the bin, I actually did do that in the "Model Railways" review.
@@Gondarth It would just save you having to repair the tape. I have had difficulties with audio cassettes. Had to bin one recently as the tape slacked and was beyond repair.
Well, do you remember when Bart and Lisa kept asking Homer if he'd take them to Mt Splashmore? That's what my brain threatened to do if I didn't actually repair the tape...
