Went there a few times, so when Joe shows a pinball I’ve usually played it. Made sure to play ever table and Arcade game they had there. After three days back was killing me but all worth it. Had to go to a local drug store and get Lidocaine. Haha.

I love the System 3's. They are rock solid and the boards have stupid strong connectors. My only gripe is the lamps and switches share the same matrix. A problem with one side can cause issues on the other.

Love your videos! Have definitely helped repair several of my pins. Your System 11 videos have helped with my High Speed project. Pin was left outside for 10 years under a metal roof in Florida. Has been an adventure so far!

@@LyonsArcade yea been working on and off on it for over a year. Cabinet was completely destroyed. Rebuilt bottom half and rebuilt and rewired the entire back box light board from scratch. Rebuilt power supply and soldiered up some brand new led displays. Game is 100% functional but still needs a lot of playfield repair. Got on order a Hardtop and been stripping the playfield. Everything is rusted. Going to have to replace every single screw. But it's a fun game and it was the last game my Dad and I got as a project before he passed.

Speaking of a pin left abandoned for 10 years. I found a video of a Street Fighter II pinball sitting in an abandoned Ames turned flea market. This particular unit had the "Manufactured by VIFICO" label on it, suggesting that it came from Spain.

Another pragmatic approach to fixing these things. Loved: 1) Knock on plywood 2) The fact that the leds were tested, and all were replaced Class act Ron. Keep up the good fight! :) Still waiting for those church bells to be a fixed… Lol

Nice! I got Super Mario Bros and the street fighter 2 pinball machine. System 3s are pretty bulletproof. I did the full led conversion to mine as well as the pin2dmd upgrade. The original fighter defeat animations were swapped to match more closely the arcade. Highly recommend it!

It's weird seeing a Street Fighter 2 pinball machine. I just associate the name with the fighting game series. I've played most of the series through the different arcade machines and console ports. I still haven't played the original game (SF 1, 1987) or any version of SF V. Still, I keep going back to SF2 Turbo and playing the first few Marvel/SF2 team up games. My big thing now are the controllers and optimizing the parts I prefer to play with. The Japanese arcade parts are so much better than what we had to play with in American arcades and suboptimal system controller pads like the SNES and 3-button Sega Genesis controllers.

Surprisingly, this is one that I _haven't_ played. Or at least I don't think I have. (We haven't had a real arcade within 180 miles of me for 20 years. I'm entitled to forget a few things.) If I have, I didn't play it very much. Looks like a lot of fun, and those "smart switches" are fascinating. From what I understand, they were made with a piezoelectric film. As the leaf flexes, stress on the piezoelectric film causes a change in current, which the CPU reads as a switch closure. This is going to be interesting to watch.

Surprised to hear you use the desolder pump over something like solder wick/braid. Especially for ICs, I worked a lot of years in TV repair and it seemed the pump was only used for heavy joints like flybacks. Though that pump you've found beats the large plastic ones. There are some crappy solder braids too, needs to be good brand and fresh and have good flux in it. Love your channel, we only ever worked on a few of these so it's neat to see someone doing board level work on machines we played as kids back when VG machines were everywhere.

The reason I don't show the actual soldering Patrick is because when I do, I get 100's of people who can do better (or think they can do better) telling me I'm doing it wrong so I just leave the specifics to those who can (or think they can) do better to teach. I'm better with just the logic behind it and understanding how to troubleshoot the problems, the actual soldering anybody can do.... thank you for watching Patrick!

Sometimes, when testing LED's, you can see them glow slightly when doing the test with a meter. :). Your troubleshooting skills are really quite good. Experience beats textbooks. Just being pedantic. Small LED's even at 3mm, were around in the 90's too. They just wouldn't look right in this situation :)

I love Gottlieb, I honestly have never played a bad Gottlieb. I don't see why people are so uptight with the themes, even Raven looks cool to me. I'm not the best person to ask to rate something though, I like them all, lol. People say the Gottliebs are hard to work on, and have bad themes, I don't think they're any harder to work on than the others it's just people aren't as used to them.... and the bad themes are actually DIFFERENT themes, which also makes them more interesting to me. Nothing wrong with the other ones though. I like that they're less expensive too. Hollywood Heat is top tier, to hell with the haters :) Thanks for watching Thomas!

That's a good question Rat Lord FX.... i'm not sure, other than they started doing that a long long time ago. The very first ones had the bolt in the corner like that, and they have a little plate inside that the bolt threads into so I guess they just figured that was the best way to do it. I have a machine from the 1930's that has the same setup so they've done it that way for about 100 years!

Ghosting is a ground issue on the control board. Check to see if there is flux on the board that will do it also and check the ground connection on the chip that controls the leds

If you look carefully at the new LED they are dimly fading in and out when they should be off. I'm not sure what's causing it though my guess would be that there is some voltage leaking and it's just enough to barely cause the newer LEDs to light.

No, I think it's just system 80s like my Hollywood heat needed it when I got mine.

@@thomasatwell8896 all System 3 have a mod. There is a molex connector lower cab with multiple ground connections going to a pcb. Grounding plain. Lower power supply. They want you to group and lug. I never had a issue I'm about original so I leave it alone.

I got ya. My machine was a routed game its is all original. All boards matching numbers. I just want to keep this one factory original. Running over 30years. Bought it from a friend in the bizz years ago. Its retired in good hands 😊

I've never understood why street fighter was turned into a Pinball machine. Even though it'll be pretty neat to play it. Just can't wrap my head around the concept.
