Repairing or Bypassing the Paper Full Sensor on the Fellows DM15C Paper Shredder 

Thanks for doing this. I can confirm that your bypass method works on the Member's Mark Model C250-A 18 sheet feeder. If you shred old labels or anything sticky, the bin full feature will drive you nuts. Although disassembly and internal layout is completely different than your Fellows, the same led and 4 wire harness exists inside. I imagine that many current shredders use this same method. Only thing I did different is left the led bulbs there, just to keep the openings closed. Thanks for your video. The information was very helpful.

Thanks very much! I shorted the black and brown pins at the connector by inserting a thin solid conductor rather than cutting the wire assembly. Of course, this accomplished the same result. Good as new my friend! My 15 year old DM15C rules! I'm waiting for the start-capacitor to give it up but, so far, good to go!

Thanks for the video. I prefer keeping the functionality. In my case it was the LED light that was gone. I replaced it with an LED from a cheap bicycle light. Works perfectly. I discovered that the warning light didn't come on, when the front was open and I pressed the frontcover switch manually. So I could conclude that the sensor side was working fine.

In many cases the first thing would be to clean the optical sensors. There are two, right underneath where the shredded paper comes out, facing each other, and held in place with small screwed on plastic covers . In my case, that was all that was required. I would suggest that as an initial approach, as over time, they get paper dust covering the lenses. Also, the base pops off the silver mechanism housing. Its just held by a few of them around the perimeter. Can always find them with a thin screwdriver and pushed in to help release them of you do t want to use brute force to pop off the top.

My DM15C shredder has a similar issue where the paper jam light stays on and the gears won’t turn either direction. I’ve cleaned the sensors and cleared all shreds of paper to no avail.
