I have two of these POS Suncast hose reels each with different issues. Fortunately, I got them both from two different neighbors who threw them away. Both had different issues so I robbed one reel to fix the other.
Good to hear you could make one from the two. Even though my repair didn’t work, I’m glad I tried, and glad I can help show everyone how crappy they are.
I just measured one with my dial caliper. Not sure what the fractional inches would be, but I hope this helps! 23.5mm Outer Diameter 18.8mm Inner Diameter 2.8mm Thickness
@@BrenoAutoGarage Any tips on how to remove the plastic casing that's around the connector piece you tried fixing? Having trouble getting that off to even get to the connector. What do you mean you used the mallot on the seam? Are there some sort of clips that hold the two pieces together?
@@tomwall2361 Yes, the inner cylinder is made of two halves that snap together, but using different snaps than the rest of the cart. There are four round push together snaps on the inside, which you cannot see from the outside. I used a mallet (rubber hammer) to open it. I supported the inner cylinder from the underside with a long piece of wood, with the seam (the line where the two halves join) resting on the wood. This was so the whole reel was up in the air and not being held up by the circular side pieces. I then hit on the top of the inner cylinder directly above the wood support using the mallet. It is important to hit on the seam so the force pushes the two halves apart, and not together. Good luck on getting it open, they did not design it to be easy to repair!
If you contacted the company, and you were within your five-year warranty they will send you that piece that is leaking. All you have to do is complain that they say that they have a replacement parts but they don't!
