Reparations: What is owed to Black Americans? 

No, it's not confusing when it's just about money. It's 100% clear.

We don’t need a study or any meetings. Did all these discussions and concerns come about when other races received reparations. This is owed to us Black Americans, and all this talk and data gathering to try to show we’re deserving and can do right by the money is complete BS. They know we’re owed reparations, so the Government needs to pay up now. Cause what we shouldn’t be doing is asking but demanding it asap.

It pisses me off when they'll grab the dumbest man on the block and ask. I myself think and said that reperations should be multifaceted, with money being one of those.

If we get the CORRECT amount of REPARATIONS, we won't need ANY government assistance. We will b able 2 pay our own college fees etc.

Dr.Claude Anderson would've been an excellent guest to discuss reparations. He has actively been fighting for reparations and has lawsuits filed.

Reparations should include 1. Transfer of property 2. Interference (protection) 3. Unjust Enrichment (monetary payments)

During this period of time, the several nation states/countries were sovereign unto themselves as relates to foreign earthly powers.

I'm from Pittsburgh PA. They ripped out the Black "Hill District" business center to build the Civic Arena. Look up Fur Coat maker Arron Pryor. Who had to sell his high quality furs to white businesses because they would not allow Black businesses Downtown Pgh. Also Three rivers Stadium.

Would only descendants of slaves qualify? What to do about Black people who immigrated? What to do about Black people whose families owned slaves? Giving anyone without experience in managing money a large check could in many cases do more harm than good. Look at the people who have won large sums and squandered it. That windfall did more harm than good. If some form of reparation is deemed necessary a better way to compensate qualified people may be no-interest mortgages, free tuition, and free healthcare might be more beneficial. But again, who qualifies? I think it is impossible to say because you are Black you are owed something. Thomas Sowell might have something to say about that. Do we give Black wealthy people reparations? Just because someone is Black it is impossible in this country to say that they were somehow harmed.

These people being interviewed do not speak for us who can articulate the demanding truth. Forget HR40. We don't need a study, we need action!

Just as the Black family and Black wealth was affected for generations- this cannot be an overnight approach. Morally or financially. Financially impossible. The Reparations system must be built in a way that counters the previous goal. There are about 42 million African American (black people born in america, or thier ancestors were slaves brought here). The bulk of African Americans are descendants of Black slaves in america. Apparently, according to several sources, every Black american is owed $350k. That is more than 10 Trillion dollars, and as I said earlier, not possible to do overnight. Neither would we want to. This has to be set up so our generations to come will benefit from this long overdue debt. Due to the fact that there is just realistically less land than there was 400+ years ago, we will settle for 1 acre. However, as far as payments go, every qualified Black American, would receive monthly payments of $3k. As far as his lineage is involved, for example, since we are approaching this from a generational aspect, his children would not begin receiving payments until the age of 18. Same for their children and so on- for 100 years. For example, if I am 30 with 1 child. If the Reparations Bill was passed tomorrow, I would start getting my monthly payments until I am deceased. My child would receive payments once they turn 18. Now lets say my child has a child at 20. Once their child (my grandchild) is 18, they would then also receive monthly payments. Their parents, nor my payments are affected by this. Neither are their children and so forth. Since my child was 18 when they received benefits, and they were only 2 when I was 30, that would mean I am in my late to early 50s. I have so much more life and many more years in me. In my lifetime alone, I would possibly and most likely live to see at least 2-4 generations impacted by this Reparations bill. 100 years?? Thats possibly 10 generations impacted by this bill. I think we can agree that more far more than 10 generations were impacted and robbed of exactly what the Declaration of Independence and Constitution promises. Now the question is, how do we get the money to do this? And who do we sue? The states individually? Maybe for some. For others, it would have to be on a federal level. This can happen. This will happen and i believe this will happen before I leave this earth.

Reparations need to be paid, no doubt about it, to address the harm and damage. Before we ever start the discussion about money, we have to begin discussing and dismantling the corrupt and lazy thinking systems (racial stereotypes) that were designed to make this happen. Or we are just allowing the oppressors to write a check and go back to what they were doing.

People are just stupid...there were no slaves from Africa because blacks were already in America. There were black Indians and red Indians.

All said, speaking on getting access to reparation funding; yet, as for the money for mentally and financially repairing our communities; thus, can it not be said that the money is already here? I also feel that something of a great concerned is: What the black community have to show for the at least, a minimum of $285 billion (in religious cash donations intake over a 10-20 year time period) in tax free dollars? As reported, on average the black churches raise an estimated $11.5 billion annually which is collected from the community; thus, any reasonable minded person would wonder, what potentially could be done with such a huge amount of money and how it could improve the state of our (Black) communities? Lastly, is it not true that for most of the history of Black America, it has predominantly been the Black Females whom have always considered the Black churches as being their 'pride & joy', one of their chief focal points of rulership while at the same time raising their young boys to also eventually pay homage to this overall system of abuse, theft and worshipping of God(s) that either don't exist, don't look like them and/or offer no real value to their own Black Communities. Our Black People do this globally simply because of a refusal to alter their beliefs based on real facts. Inclusively, it goes to show and prove, that you can give your all (physical, mental, spiritual & etc...) to the enemy, regardless of their ethnicity; nevertheless, they will always hate you and want you to be forever submissive to them. As a person and especially as a Black person, you should always try to retain a level of self-respect & self dignity for yourself at all costs. In the 'long run', you may see that it's worth it to do so.

Will reparations make everything better? or will people say, "is that all I get?". I doubt people who receive reparations will say all is even now. Also do people making over 500k eligible for reparations? Whatever number they come up with, it will be too little, fostering more complaints. If people get 1 million each, no one will work anymore, generations of people will be pulled from the work force.

Comparisons to other groups are wrong-headed, awkward and divisive. The idea of reparations to close the wealth gap is also nonsensical. The single best argument is holding Federal, State and Local governments accountability to egregious violations of the Constitution. Those violations should make those slaves to the standard of that day less contributions already made. I think slavery reparations will not yield much in reparations. But Jim Crow should should be included in Reparations. There, I think separations will involve larger monetary contributions. Again, less contributions already made. The risk of course is that once reparations are made, they should be considered a debt paid. If so, race-based welfare not introduced should be dismantled. Of course, one must then weigh whether the reparations will be the better move vs. holding Whites to the fire. Final thoughts. 1) reparations will not heal any wound. 2) there is a noticeable lack of non-blacks in this conversation. Until it is nationwide (86% of Americans are non-Black); 3) Many of the most brutal anti-Black cities and states are now majority Black. 4) 1/3 of Americans are non-White and non-Black and also suffered from systemic racism. Reparations are due but the conversations are off kilter and will remain so until they are joined by. wider set of voices and perspectives.

Reperations would help descendants of slavery. Sharecropping in Ark. To be able to pay off our mortgages. And be able to save money. Instead of living from check to check. To own a business and employ our families.

This is not complicated. Black Foundational Americans, who built this country under horrific conditions without pay and is still being oppressed is owed reparations without a doubt. We need to claim Self Determination and become a Nation within a Nation, just like the Indians. Let Reparation be paid to the Nation as a whole. Reparation should include: 1. From an insurance perspective, each issue of racism that we faced had its own merit. Defendants who are looking at multiple judgments against them would LOVE to muddy and mash up all of their wrongs in one neat settlement. It’s cheaper that way. That’s why people throw everything America did wrong into the reparation discussion. Stop that. Each issue has its own merit or type of harm to us. Slavery is money. Our ancestors weren’t paid and we want their checks. Period. Share cropping is also monetary to me. That’s a separate settlement at its own devastating value. Jim Crow can be money but it was mainly about a lack of opportunity. That’s where free education, neighborhood programs, free homes, tax exemptions come into play. If we settle all of these atrocities under one umbrella everything will be devalued and bargained down cheaper. I know, I do it every day. When you see our people, who say they understand politics or bargaining and they want to discuss ALL of the wrongs we’ve dealt with in one settlement, they are not for us because they know they’re cheating us. They’ve had a back room discussion, I know, and made compromises to appease all parties. As FBA/ADOS we don’t have a weak argument. Facts are facts. They are not going to win. America already has a history of paying money to descendants. There’s no valid defense other than, I’m white and I say so. So separate the merits of our claims and don’t have them bargain us into one settlement agreement to undercut the true value of the claims.
