just downloaded the files, gonna start it next week. also a little trick you can do besides hammering the nuts in, is if you have a soldering tool you just heat up the nut and it melts into the plastic and then hardens around it. Makes a real nice fit and it won't ever come out.
Great design, I've just printed one. One thing: I didn't use glue to connect the parts. I've printed it with PLA and used a 3D-pen to weld it together where neccessary with PLA again. It's much faster and I think the connections are even stronger. Another little modification: I 've changed the cutting from the bow slider an moved it a little to the back, so only the thin part of the slider had to be cut and not the connector for the magazine. So it was a little bit easier to smooth it all.
welding it together with a 3d pen is good for outside structure but there is no solid connection therefore it wont be as strong as it would be with glue
Such a calm, informative and easy to follow video. I'd love to have a copy of the stl files please. I've been following Joerg for a good few years now, another calm guy. Cheers
I've just bought all the fixings I need to build one and I'll be setting the printer going over the weekend, can't wait to give it a go. What sort of spring is needed for the magazine, are they easy to come by?
I bought mine from amazon, but it appears they are now out of stock of the black, however I found some silver on there, which is stronger than the black. The smallest amount you can buy at the moment is 7.5m by the looks of it.
This is awesome! I actually resized the toothpick repeating crossbow on thingyverse but doesn't fire as well as this. Do you happen to have the files plz?
Is gluing the upper part of the magazine absolutely necessary? Because i find the rear screws connecting it to the grip are apparently strong enough to hold it together (atleast for the time being, i haven't installed the rubber yet) Would be very neat if it actually doesn't need to be glued, since i'd love it if it can be disassembled again later (for maintenance and clearing jams for example)
May I ask for your help? The catch mechanism in my bow constantly fails. Sometimes the bolts fire out even when it's half drawn, without pushing the release. Initially, I thought it was because the spring for the release (inside the back grip) is too weak, although it's the same spec (8mm OD, etc) as in your instructions. I tried double-stacking the spring to increase the tension, and it worked for low-power rubber bands. But once I upgraded it to stronger rubber bands (~25-30 lbs), the catch failed again. I feel that while the spring tension and rubber band are factors to consider, the catch mechanism probably should be robust enough. So maybe some other things are going wrong in my build?
Hello, great video but I'm having a problem with the part that holds the bolts down. In your video it's at time mark 5:37 the hook on your right catches the cord when you try to reload. so every time I have to remember to pull it up a little to reload becomes a pain any ideas on how I can fix that. Other than that it's really great fun to use. The part on putting reloader together was super and a great help Thank You
How much emphasis do you think needs to be placed on sanding / to what grit do you think one should go? I'm sanding mine currently, primarily anything with moving bits and the curvier areas of the bow arms and grip. I'm not sure what level of "smooth" is sufficient / what is overkill.
Gareth, nice video. What slicer are you using? I ask because I’m having trouble getting the vertical supports inside the barrel to print on my ender 3 with cura. Cura won’t recognise that the supports exists when slicing
Hi mate im using cura and no supports are needed for this When the barrel is printed there is a fine line thats printed that you have to file out with the round file Put it in cura and move the view around so you seen the front of the barrel and you will see it
Learn As We Go yes I read the pdf what says there are no supports required and I can also see the two lines that are part of the design that act as a support to the inner barrel. For some reason these lines are not recognised when I slice in cura. I’ll recheck my settings
Thank you for the very informative video. Seeing current world events got me thinking having a survivalist weapon would not be a bad idea. I realize it has been a year since you posted this video but I too would love to have access to those files if you wouldn't mind. Thank you again.
I’m struggling with Cura slicer. Some of the prints I think I have orientated incorrectly but keep going wrong during the print. Managed all 3 magazine parts fine. But have issues with the bow parts. What’s the best way to lay it out. Eg for the bow slider do you have the sliding legolini writing to be at the top?
Hi thanks for the response. Yes I made sure they were flat, resliced them and then they printed correctly. I think when I rotated them the first time they weren’t exactly flat!! This time round I made sure they were rotated at the correct degrees! Thanks
Hi,great video . A question i ruined the magzine part1 . The support inside were to much to get out . Is there a setting to use weaker support so it breaks out easier ?
Excellent video, i've just built mines whilst watching your build. i need to reprint a couple but lost files on old laptop and legolini site is erroring. does anyone have a link to help me?
200x200 bed required... I almost gave up, it's a good thing I checked all the parts in my default slicer and it looks like they will fit on my 230x150 bed. I'll give this a go once I can figure out where to find the springs, rubber tube, bolts, nuts, files...
Hello, first off, I really enjoyed the video thank you. Very clear and easy to follow with nice tips/advice along the way! I am going to get my yellow springs tomorrow for my ender 3 v2 tomorrow so when they are installed and tuned I plan on making one of these! I have a few questions if you'd be so kind, 30% infill.. I assumed it would be close to 90%? but youll have to forgive me Im new at the 3D printing. My second question is where did you get the springs? also there are 3 listed in the descriptions Ive seen to make the bow which are .8mm 8mm 20mm ones however the one for the clip looks different?? have you got the size and or location of this one too.
Hi david with the infill i followed the designers specs and it worked for me and i will check the springs links shortly, if i cant a quick look on ebay may bring up sellers
hi, what dimensions should magazine part 3 be, i have printed all other parts fine using the slicing software Cura, its the only part that does not fit my bed, the model is showing X 238,1248 , Y 31.6879 , Z 45.566 all are 100%, which overlaps the bed, i am using the Ender 3 v2
@@rowanquinlan6049 sorry i got the video you was commenting on wrong, all the springs, screws and tube are off ebay as its the cheapest place, unfortunately you need to order them separately as no one sells a kit
@@denniseckhart as he wrote over. The files and instruction are on the official site created. Just google sliding legolini 3d print. And it should be on top.
