Excellent videos ! I own a W221 myself and once you’ve driven an s class there’s no going back 😂 I served my apprenticeship as a Mechanic and we were taught to remove the cap from the brake fluid reservoir before depressing the brake calliper pistons as the excess pressure can damage seals within the master cylinder.
Great video. I can see a common mistake you and most dyi make. you did not clean the corrosion off the hub before installing the new rotor. this will cause future problem. the corrosion will collect moisture and create more corrosion and cause the the new rotor to warp which will lead to brake pulsation. should always clean the hub and put a brush the hub with a light film of grease before installing the new rotors.
Thank you and yes, you are right, I need to add the script into the video. I did not clean the hub because I have cleaned it a few months ago when I replace another pair of rotors. Those rotors are uneven leads to vibration when braking.
First I like your video editing. Absolutely fantastic. But a question regarding rotors. MB OE rotors have that grayish protective coating. I see you didn't remove the coating while installing but yet the video switches to a cleaned rotor. Did you find an issue after you installed the uncleaned rotor? I did replace mine and neglected to clean one of the sides.
Thank you and you watched the video very carefully. To the re-editing video I using some different footage that looks better, lol. The coating on the rotor should be cleaned by the brake pad instead of cleaning separately. Just install them and drive, everything should be ok.
Great work! I have a few questions.. I noticed u replaced the rotors too, what made u decide the rotors were bad? Did u use aftermarket or original Mercedes oem parts? Thank you! @seniorleigh
Sorry for the late reply. I do not have the video of replacing the receptacle, since I did not damage one. I think that should be teardown the old receptacle to take out the pin and insert them into the new one.
@@jundio if you concern the spark plugs replacing for M157, I think that’s pretty same with M278. If you have another information of your car, you might visit leighsr.com/forum to discuss.
@@LeighSr Yeah they have similar engines but I broke the resceptacle connector. I bought one resceptacle but I just want to make sure how to de-pin the wires and connect to the new one.
Nice. I have very similar brakes on my SLK I paint them last year. I love how they look now and not difficult. If you decide to do it let me know and I’ll send you some Mercedes or AMG decails for the calipers as gift for your help.
