I actually like that idea is (most) the original cast actually just moving out thats why there are new versions (probably because goodman sold the house again or probably told Nintendo so he doesn’t get sued for housing Nintendo characters)
I think it's a dream that Mavin has, where he finally accepts his Nintendo days are done Where his Mario counter part, and Black Yoshi, mock Mavin for what he has became, a sad man, with a wife that hates him, rarely no fun or epic adventures, but with Jeffy the cause of Mavins downfall ironically being the only help Mavin gets in his dream

Honestly, marvin sounding different feels like the replacements started to mimic the og characters voices overtime, marvin already sounds like mario slightly
What I like to think about SML's switch to the puppets is that they are seperate people and the plushies are out living their best life. For example, (Keep in mind, this is all headcanon stuff) Junior finally got his behavior corrected after a year or so of disicipline. Cody went on and made the most ground breaking invention Joseph went on and became an all star basketball player Bowser finally spends time with Junior more than Charlyy Black Yoshi still recieves his welfare checks, but uses it on stuff he'll know he'll need to quit bugging mario. Mario finally struck gold, because he no longer has to care for jeffy since Marvin took his place. He is out on his adventures once again, with Rosalina managing to keep where they live afloat... in space. Sometimes he does miss jeffy. Rosalina sometimes mention jeffy and sometimes visits the house off camera, not taking a liking to Rose. She works hard to keep her space ship in order and allowed mario to take in his friends, those being Black yoshi, shrek, woody, Mr. Pig, and even toad.
This proves that mario and Marvin are diffrent people but in SML they would give mario a haircut and he turns into Marvin are they diffrent ir the same??

so far looks pretty cool, but jeffy feels out of place being animated to look more like a toy when everyone else is animated to look like they're life-like, and i think the marvin chromatic could also use a bit of work.. but other than that, this is looking good!
