So nice to see you back, looking forward to new videos. Are you moving into the new shop space on the corner of Front street and F st or is that for someone else?
Hi Dave and thanks for the super videos. You are a great teacher. Could you provide more detail regarding how you plan to restore the springs? In particular, are you having them re-arched? My understanding is that re-arched springs will not hold up well due to hysterisis loss over the years. Meaning, over time, a spring loses its spring rate due to repeated cyclic loading. So, a re-arched spring will eventually flatten out again because it's basically worn out. I am working on a '69 R/T Charger and was planning to replace the springs. Overall they are in nice shape and I'd sure like to keep the original ones if re-arching or whatever is a good plan. Your thoughts greatly appreciated. Jack
Hi Jack, when we restore the springs we disassemble them clean and paint each individual leaf then install new insulators, plates and keepers. Then we paint the entire spring after reassembly. If the spring is sagging we do not re arch the spring, we replace the set.
