Replacing A Turbo Inlet Hose On A VW T5 | Van Life UK

After we found an oil leak in the engine bay the other week and figured out it was the turbo inlet hose coming from the intercooler, we ordered a new hose and it arrived today. It wasn't too hard to fit it and we managed to do it in an evening. Link below for the new hose.

This just happened to us today on our 2.5 the top part blew off .. was currently to running 230bhp then fitted a hybrid turbo upgrade so aa was called did a temporary repair and I've ordered the forge intercooler kit .. hopefully will see and improvement in boost

So which way round was the clip supposed to go? Also, if you had oil leaking out of that pipe, you’ve got bigger issues to deal with…😮

If you've got oil in that pipe mate.........you've got bigger problems than the pipe.......

I need to swop my hard pipe .. you said in vid you had already took the hose off once? you removed the original pipe and refit it and put it back on (before you fit the new pipe) so I was wondering did it fit back in tight or once removed do they not go back in?? As I don't want to have to replace both my hoses either end of hard pipe

Yeah so we only had to replace that's short section of pipe that comes straight out of the intercooler. Is that the part you're on about? If so yeah it fits back in tight and fine. Ours just didn't fit in tight enough In the first place so we had to buy a new one. But if you take them out they fit back in just as good as before you took it out. Hope that helps. The part I'm replacing is the actual metal pipe ( the one you connected one end of your pipe too) that goes down towards the turbo. ..I got a small hole in it causing it to suck.. was a pain to get the replacement part and I didn't wanna have to buy new hoses as well. ...thanks again guys keep up the good vids

you should reuse the green VW o-rings ..they are much better then the replacement black ones ....trust me

Just use PTFE tape. It costs 50p.

Yeah exactly. I suppose if you’re planning on keeping the van for a long time then the new pipe is worth it

@@BrettSmith-wg6di dont knock it untill you try it. Its literally designed for the job. Universities pump out woke, tatood, pierced, diverse, government loving nonces now days. The real engineers are all at work on their own projects in the shed.

Sorry.......me again. I really find posts like this annoying? If you've got oil in the inlet hose you have a greater problem than the hose. How many weekend warrior engineers are now going to waste a load of money on a hose they probably don't need when actually the problem lies elsewhere? They are great these posts for giving an idea of what might be wrong but my advice is to talk to someone who actually understands how it all works???? Like a recommended garage of a good mechanic? I feel like screaming NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! whenever I see posts like this. The time, money and effort wasted on wild goose chases. The only people who benefit are the parts suppliers.
