Mike...I think it's awesome as a news anchor you work on your cars! I'm a retired college administrator. I do close to 95% of the repairs on my Rolls Royces, Jaguars and Mercedes! My faculty and students couldn't believe I got dirty and greasy! They thought I read books all the time! You explain the repairs simply. Keep up the great work! Take care!
Very impressive Richard! Sounds like you have a nice collection of cars. I’ve wanted a Bentley Arnage for years now (not the BMW engine though). Maybe one day I’ll find one for the channel. Thanks fir the kind words!
@@MonkeyWrenchMike I have a 99 Arnage because it was the ONLY year the car has the BMW engine and does NOT have the known head gasket problems. My Bentley dealership guy says EVERY 2000+ Arnage with the Rolls/Bentley engine will have head gasket issues! It's just when! It's a manufacturing defect, but Bentley would not admit it! The HG replacement will cost $12,000+! BE careful & try to find one with the HG already done!
You need to reset the memory position feature for auto lift away for the power steering wheel tilt. I had the same problem on my 1997 E320 and when I did this procedure it cured the problem. The column goes up and down just not out and back.
Thanks for your response, I have a code reader as well but it's not showing I have an error. Obviously I have an error because it's on my screen, I will try to remove it and reinstall it. Thanks again.
Thanks for the videos. They're very entertaining. Keep it up. One question, what is your general method for identifying parts and part numbers? I go back and forth between RockAuto and Car-Part but am always trying to learn the best way to ID and source parts for repair.
I would have worn gloves when dealing with that screen and why it was apart I could have washed the console window why it was apart.. Also technically you should have been wearing a grounding strap working with that board, but to be fair I put in thousands of boards and never wore a grounding strap
will all warning lights with signal light indicator also go power off when this LCD screen damaged ? My whole instrument cluster no power now .please answer .thanks.
Mike, what is that little screen for on the left in your tachometer? It was blank the whole time. I think in my 2001 e320 that is the ambient temperature screen because my main screen does not show the temp. I need to change out my main screen because it is faded very bad.
Whatever your doing it for I’m enjoying it so please continue do it. One more thing so are you strictly doing this channel for Mercedes or are you going to switch up on us
Hello, I have one question, after replacing my LCD screen my SRS error appeared, I saw it appears on yours too. Did it go away after a while. Or I need to go to dealer to get it fix. Thanks
I went to my mechanic to have this LCD screen fixed for my 2004 C240 4matic, but he told me he couldn't do it and I'd have to have it fixed at Mercedes. However, My mechanic was able to fix the turn signal switch, and do Service B repairs for the Benz. I wonder how much this LCD would cost for Mercedes or any other mechanic to fix it for me? Does anyone know an approximate price?
You actually lucked out on this car in that MB learned to do these instrument pods right. On the older models you have to remove the needles because the screens hook up under the entire face. I just replaced mine and it is very hard to return the needles back to the correct positions because they do not have any kind of catch on their stems to reset them with. The temp and clock are also separate little screens and the ribbons are glued onto the board. My new screens does not seem to be any brighter than the old one. A waste of $100 and time and frustration. I hate Mercedes!
