There are two different yokes on the T-case. a 28 spline and a 32 spline. If you have an NP247 T-case, they're always 32 spline. If you don't, then you will have to pull the yoke and count them because it could be either. It depends on which 4wheel drive option your WJ has. Just an FYI, . . . ran into this problem on my 2000 WJ Laredo. The yoke I got from my local parts yard was a 28 and I needed the 32. Luckily the 32 spline is more common and is used on other Jeep models too, so getting it exchanged was easy. Just be aware. Greetings from Alaska.
Hey do you know the part number for the 32 spline? I have a 99 wj limited with the 4.7 v8. It has the 247 and I'm looking to make sure I get the right parts. I just need the part number for the diff side and transfer case side.
Great Video! I will be doing the same thing in a couple of weeks. Presently rebuilding EVAP system. Have fuel tank out for new fuel pump and new skid plate. your videos are being referred to by Danco, Who I bought my driveshaft from.👍
Looking forward to "send it" vids. Great presentation. Got a 4inch rough country on the 2001 wj. Picking it up tomorrow. Not confident enough to do it by my own self yet. Thanks for the great vids. Keep em rolling yo.
A few suggestions: Be sure to use a bit of blue loctite on the driveshaft and ujoint strap bolts, pinion nut and t-case nut. At the pinion and t-case put a little RTV on the splines and don't forget the rubber star washer. Torque the pinion nut to about 150 ft-lb. Your t-case takes ATF-4, not oil.
@@tylerdubois9020 Yes, you are correct, the 247 takes Mopar fluid MS-10216. The 242 (and 231) takes ATF+4. I wasn't sure which case he had. I just wanted to differentiate from gear oil, sorry for the confusion.
So he had a double rzeppa up front and this is how you resolve that? To make it a double cardan? Because the double cardan is the way to go? I’m trying to get unconfused….
Air tools are OK, but you should really consider buying something like the big Milwaukee 1/2 impact (or even a cheaper lower power like Kobalt, still more powerful than air).
Hey Najar! Good stuff but may I ask... When you said that you are going to mark the nut so you know where to put the threads back in, what does that mean? The nut is going to just catch the threads and torque down to specs. Marking just aligns things but i don't understand what you are aligning! I'm doing my yokes soon (IRO DS kit) and I don't wanna screw it up! THANKS for any help!!!
@@NajarOffroad Ahhh! Thanks! If I remember, there's a crush nut or washer on the back side so marking allows to get the nut back on to the correct position without over-crushing... Back to where it was... THANKS, bud!!!!!
The seal Chris put on do u need that? The only thing i bought was a new Differential Pinion Seal that goes into the diff. Asking because i haven't installed my new drive shaft yet but don't wanna get into it and not have all the parts.
Ok so i have a 99 wj limited, it has that shitty front shaft. I am getting the yokes but where do i find another dri eshaft for it? The ones with the ujoints are 28inches but mine now is 31. Do the yokes add those 3 inches? Its almost winter here and i need to get this figured out very soon
I also have a double rzeppa, curious if it’s just as simple as replacing the front axle and transfer case rzeppas to the double Carden yokes? Nothing needs to be done in front axle ? Can I pull parts at a pick-a-park and make everything work ?
Unfortunately I have not. But after some research it looks like it is possible to swap yokes just have to be careful not to over torq and mess us the crush washer at the axle. I went with the iron rock off-road WJ conversion kit.
Hey brotha! Your comments shouldn’t be getting deleted! It’s hard to reply to every comment but I do try! The headlights are from Spyder they are sold out at the moemnt
Great How to Videos for my Jeep WJ! Way to go🇺🇸 If anyone collects Lincoln Continentals or older Fords, my son’s channel “ 78 Stinkin Lincoln “ is a great how to channel🤠
@@NajarOffroad 1.50$ Canadian per liter and rising , it's 1 75 and close to 2$ a liter in some of the Provinces and I live on a rural acreage so it was killing me financially
@@306-fromthestix Are u talking about the price of gas? In MN it's $3.49 a gallon rn. Kinda sucks when u drive a 03 WJ with the 4.7 V8 and it's all time 4wd
