Really enjoying this channel. Given a lot of the bad press, especially recently, around some dairy farms, it is really good to see farmers who are dedicated to caring for their livestock and talking about why they do certain things. I am sure most farmers are like this but they are not the ones that make the news unfortunately.
I was thinking the same thing. Just like these Animal groups to skew reality in their favor. All 3 of the dairy farmers I follow work sun up til sun down caring for their herds and keeping their farms up. You can see they care for the animals
@Sally Vee I disagree, because they bash the industry. You dont see a video bashing just 1 production dairy farm or 1 chicken producer. It's the industry as a whole. If they were TRULY fair theyd show a comparison of humane facilities to contrast.
Please don't take this time for granted. You will love the memories when you are older. I grew up on a small dairy farm in central IL and my memories are priceless. My dad wanted boys and got 4 girls. We worked hard and I wouldn't trade it for anything. It made me who I am today. We had a free stall building too. My dad used corn cobs and straw for bedding. Worked great. Keep up the good work. Love your videos.
@@junkiexl86 Mastitis and high cell counts are, they say, due to cleanliness. Not always the case though. We had an unbelievably low cell count (Bactoscan) on a farm I worked at for more than 20 years. They said it was so low that if we got an outbreak of mastitis it could run riot through the herd. Thankfully it never did. Don't get me wrong, we had the occasionally cow but you isolate them. Plus, as these lads do, you make sure that milk doesn't go in the bulk tank.
Hi the dog and cow 🐄 looked like they were definitely good friends!! Really really enjoyed this video!!! Good thing your Dad gave the mats a professional test very important!! Lol 😂 have a great weekend Thanks again 🙋♀️
So happy to watch these videos, never realized just how much time and work it takes to run a farm. Will appreciate dairy products a lot more. Thank you
Animal husbandry at its finest, well done. Happy cows even with a hammer drill going flat out!! A true pleasure to watch these informative and very interesting videos, your farm is immaculate and very well maintained, but most importantly your animal husbandry is a real pleasure to watch and see. Well done all. From Bristol, England, Great Britain.
I enjoy your videos I am a retired dairy farmer for over 60+years, I like seeing your modern farm compared to how I operated , best of luck to you ! Please keep making these fine videos . Thank you so much .
I encourage you to go around and check out farms you’d be surprised they all treat cows really well, cows are their income! It’s only the very few bad ones that get called out and shamed online as they should be. Farmers do well if they treat cows right. It’s a shame thousands of farmers get a bad rap because of the few guys who shouldn’t own cows. “Look after your cows and they’ll look after you”
So I am a farming sim game player and ran across your channel and can't get enough. Working on watching them all. So now RU-vid has recommended other dairy farm channel so interesting to see the difference but I see how clean you keep your farm, stalls, bedding even your milking PARLOR and vehicles. AMAZING JOB KEEP IT UP!
Love this channel I'm a landscaper I spend most my time watching landscape videos when I'm off and chilling but now I be wondering what goes on on a farm and your channel is raw and true and no stupid music over the video .. keep up the good filming
Thanks for the video. You and your Dad are the real deal. You guys don’t sit in a office and have other people do your work for you. Truly hands on. When cows go out of their way to get your attention and want to be scratched tells me you are doing things right. You guys are one of the best farmers I have seen and I have been around dairy most of my 61 years. Thank you again it’s a pleasure to watch.
@10thgenerationdairyfarmer I'm a vegetable farmer from Western Pennsylvania. I love seeing other fellow farmers operations. Your my favorite dairy farming channel. Your videos are put together really well and you show all the details and daily life if a dairy farmer. Thanks for the great content.
These guys are smart. The way they treat their animals with patience and care lowers the animals anxiety/stress levels which increases milk output. Happy cows happy life.
Thanks for taking precious time to make and edit the videos. I certainly enjoy watching them and live vicariously through you imagining my dream of farming one day.
I'm impressed! I have never heard of cow mattresses. This sounds like a great investment into keeping your cows happy and healthy. The work and sleep areas are all so clean! Wow, I am truly impressed. Those moo-moos are smiling all the way to the barn!
Every video you manage to raise the appreciation i have for you, your work ethic is awesome, your compassion is awesome, this all adds up to the fact that you are awesome, to top it all of you are a good looking guy and hot to boot.
My girlfriends dad is a fruit and vegetable farmer here in NY and seeing him run the farm over the years has really opened my eyes to the hard work and dedication it takes to be a farmer. Huge respect to you and all your hard work!! Keep up the great videos!
Luv it when the farmer is doing work close to the cows, they always want to supervise the operation!!! That is good wear if they last 15 years. Good video Eric.
I'm so glad you're actually taking the time to do these videos. I have tons of random gopro footage and clips that I never got around to editing. People always ask me what I do every day on a farm and it's so hard to explain that being a dairy farm is way more than milking cows and pitching hay.....
25 years ago I visited a dairy farm in California. I didn't get to see the entire operation, of course, but I believe the cattle were kept in large outdoor pens and the cows had nowhere to lie except in the manure that covered the entirety of the pen. It is possible that I didn't see that they actually did have a nice(r) place to lie, but I am glad that your cows are cared for so well.
A great example of a healthy dairy farm. Love that you give a bit of a view into dairy farming & show others what it's like on a dairy farm. Keep it up!
It is so wonderful to see that these cows are treated kindly and lovingly!! And it shows. I don't see any ankle depth poo, and the cows udders look clean. ❤️
Wow I see how you have lasted 10 generations, every video I watch gets better and better you are truly so kind to you girls!!! I've never seen anyone put down bed mats for their girls!!
"cow mattresses". Who knew??? That's why your channel is so important. Seems to me long ago your ancestors made a commitment to quality and integrity, and it's great to see that being maintained as you go. I'm enjoying this channel. Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us!
Even though there are tons of things you have to get done each day, I'm glad to see how calm you are around the cows. You touch them and talk to them instead of yelling and pushing for them to get our of your way. Many people will learn from your example. Thanks.
Eric and his dad are very wise to treat their animals this way. I grew up on a dairy and beef farm and there is nothing worse than scared, jumpy animals. They are big and strong and can hurt you very badly, especially when they are afraid.
Although we never had free stall barn and milk parlor with water mats, I prided myself on keeping the barn clean and fly control and some air moving thru it all in comfort for the cows. Never beat on them and most were tame and had names. We milked 70 for several years and it was a job to keep it up. I only raise 4 to 6 Holstein steers at a time now from bottle to butcher and the little barn I have now I clean at least three times a day for them. When it's hot they lay in the barn to get out of the sun and I have a big fan on them and spray for flies. All about their comfort. Their fat and sassy and tame as kittens. It's nice to see taking care of the livestock is what it's all about.
I love your comment, oldfarmer. Those 4 to 6 steers have the best life possible while on earth with you. I raised and milked Holsteins while I grew up and I know your type, I was one of them!! Those cows were my babies and my best friends. I did the fans, fly spray and all. I don't think my cows ever wanted for anything, except me, when I went off to college.
Thanks so much for the video. It's great to see that you take such good care of the cows and they seem very content. I also enjoy watching them watch y'all while you work; they seem very curious and interested in what goings-on. Love the lab-cow LOVE! So precious . God bless you and yours.
You and your dad make a great team keep up the good work I love your videos and how you treat all your animals very well. Thank you for all your hard work.
The cows look on as you and your dad replace the matresses, Im sure they are happy to get their new beds. Allot of happy cows there, such beautiful animals.
just found your channel so I've been binge watching at night when I can. I am VERY impressed with your work ethic. it's a very good quality to have already at such a young age 👍
love how the cows are huddled beside discussing what these guys are upto. Oneofthecows going "Hey guys whats going on i want to rest" jumping up and down
The majority of the public have no clue on what it takes to put milk, butter, yogurt, etc. on their tables! Your farm is ahead of many to show where people get their food from good job! Keep up the good and hard work you do!! Also good job wearing a mask very important I’m suffering now with COPD because of not wearing a mask doing my farm chores that wasn’t the only contributing factor but a big one! Young man please wear your mask and drink more water!! Lol
Love how your pup just lays there haha....reminds me of my chocolate lab I got from a farm in New Holland. Looking for a new girl soon since she passed in the winter time. anyways, thanks for the videos!
Been binging your channel for a few weeks and I never thought I would be so interested in something I never really thought about before. Keep up the great vids and hard work!
You probably won't see this almost a year later but I loved the shot of the cow licking the dog. It brought back memories. I left farm country after graduating high school in 1976 and got a job in a steno pool (thing of the past) and a studio apartment in downtown Albany, New York April 1977 and, well, my mom was a farm girl so we considered a cat a necessity and got one of those too. (Not sorry. Got a mouse; she killed it.) Well, that summer, the park had a farm-city day where farmers came and showed what they did to the city kids. Of course, I had to go! My cat was vicious and in the city, too much traffic and weirdos to let her run so I walked her in the park with a leash every weekend. One of the farmers had set up a cow with a wooden post fence and was showing all the little kids how to milk. I had to watch for a while and set my cat on the fence to do so, chatting with the farmer and watching the kids have fun milking. Well, my cat was about six months' old and had never seen a cow before and was staring with much curiosity. But, of course, the cow was familiar with cats and she just looked at my cat and went slurp with her tongue across my cat's face. My cat jumped but then she started purring. She liked that cow!
Nice job did I understand that you got 14-15 years out of the old ones? If so that's pretty impressive! Good you're showing how hard you try to make your cows comfortable and productive!! Thanks for taking the time to show us!!
You are very confident around the cows, i was recently charged by a heifer so I’m a bit paranoid having cows behind me and close. Hope i can get my confidence back soon
I never knew that the cows had their own mattresses it’s amazing to me !!!! Thanks for showing this and for educating me I enjoyed it and am so glad that your cows get to use new beds that are more comfortable!!! I see that cow comfort is important they even have waterbed option!,, I think the best of the video was your beverage was of all things chocolate milk!!!! LMAO!!!!
Dad's back was tightening up and uncomfortable when he laid down. Backs do that when you work as hard as he does and he has been working hard a long time. It takes its toll. Love your videos.
Mr. Smith My Ottb from a rescue was a start from DreamCatcher at a lovely ranch DCHorses. As an english rider and the Bedford Groom of a township in New England. I look for barns with faint dust clippings of what use to be there. I work in Constructions Regulations funded by the FED and my hobby is building farms. Great happy Cows. For your your establishment. I still carry my tool belt where I go and The horse named Lady returned to her derby after placing and jumping her retaining her fold about double on her dam. Congratulations on being 10 generations. A new subscriber named Al
I love watching your videos! after watching plenty of your farming vids no wonder crazy virus's and diseases come out of farming animals like this.... your so close to the animals in large confined groups. Perfect for spreading quickly.
Just to echo some of the other comments you guys do a great job. I haven’t ever worked on a dairy but have visited several with my AI guy (I’m a Beef guy) and I have never seen such a well ran dairy. Your family should start a university on Dairy. You guys are top notch!
My brother managed a couple dairy and I am impressed with wearing a mask for all the dust! Your showing American's where there milk, butter, cheese and squeakers come from.
Thanks for caring for the cows 🐄 the way you do! Happy cows 🐮 make the best cheese 🧀 I love this channel and all farm channels like yours, simple honest and informative, I hope you never change your ethically responsibly way of farming! You need more green cows to make more Mountain Dew 😂
Tough job man. I do it a lot at work. Water beds too. Im a food grade welder and service technician for dairy barns. I do a lot of installs too and anything involving those rubber mats is always tough. Loving your channel man good stuff. Oh hah those are the foam ones. Lucky :) nice n light.
Still a better story than Twilight. haha, great videos man. Glad to see the next generation is hard at work and cares for those animals. I am all livestock farming, but livestock farming done right. You guys do it right.
Wow them girls don't know they're living they r very well looked after I wish all farmers would take care of their animals like this its lovely 2 c 😊 Super job!
