Thank you very much! All of the other videos showed how to replace the handle. I needed to see where cable attached to the opening mechanism. Happy wife, happy life lol. Thanks again.
Awesome video! I think you did a great job explaining each step in the removal, and replacement of the cable. The video of the steps was clear with no blocking or missed steps. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
Thank you for this video, which allowed us to fix our recliner! Our son has autism and just loves his recliner, but the cable broke and we were able to fix it ourselves thanks to your video.
Now THIS is how a instruction video should be. Simple and too the point. Fixed my recliner in 10 minutes and I am shite at DIY. Got the cables cheap on Amazon too 😄
Your video is very clear and easy to follow. I fixed my double recliner! Still need to buy a one new cable but it's so easy to do. My fingers aren't strong enough to squeeze the sides of the clip so I used pliers. Thank you for your help.
Very useful video which saved me a lot of money. I re-used the existing flapper handle and just replaced the cable (total cost £3.99 - approx $5.52 USD) and there were only a couple of extra things to watch out for. There was an extra cable restraint on mine near the bottom plastic clip which just needed a philips screwdriver to remove/replace (Lazboy California model circa 2012) . My mechanism was more enclosed by fabric etc, making it difficult to thread the new cable through and find the end of without cutting a larger hole. I therefore pulled the old cable back towards the flapper until the spring end was just disappearing into the fabric then I loosly sellotaped the new cable to the old one as far down as I could and pulled the old back through until the new cable appeared. It saved a lot of fishing for an end, or damaging the manufacturers covering and only took a minute or so. At the flapper end I couldn't see how to get the cable off the flapper. It turned out that there was a very fine "U" shaped strong spring holding it in place, and all I had to do was compress the end of the "U" and it came out easily. To replace, insert the cable end (barrel) into the hole before clipping the cable into the retainer and putting the spring into place. Finally, can I say "Tthank you Anan". In all it took me 35 mins from start to finish including sorting out what my problem was, but now I know about the "U" spring and the other little tricks I think next time I can get it down to under 10 mins.
Brilliant. You make it look so easy 😄 You’ve saved me about £50 - I ordered the entire mechanism from Amazon for less than £10 and managed to do it myself. Thank you!
You just saved me an expensive callout... thanks for a very clear and useful video. I figured out what was wrong but didn;t want to force the clip out, yet it's easy when you know how!!!
Thank you so much for this video. I was quoted £200 to fix my reclining chair. I discovered that the cable had broken so, after watching this video I ordered a replacement on Amazon, it arrived and I fitted it in 10 minutes. To be honest, it took me longer to get the old one out as the clip was hard to budge. Anyway, just to let you know if I can do it, anyone can. Thank you
Thank You very much. Ordered the mechanism from Amazon after reading reviews for several options and measuring the handle and cable. I had to "tap" the clip in with a hammer because it was a tight fit, but now my recliner works beautifully!
Gawwwwwwsh damn. I love you. I don’t even care if you need to replace your recliner cable. You need to watch this video. The world could use 50 more of whoever the hell is in this video.
hello 👋 i can't the cable like my has a different end ○ all the ones has L hoke are now where can I find one that has O end I have the one with L but Had go to a lot of trouble someone help me please 🙏
Hi, thanks for the video 🙂. I brought the new cable system. However, the cable looks longer to my recliner couch leaving extra silver wire. It is not generating tension to pull recliner system up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
I got the cables and tried installing them but whoever made them didn't do the right job. First of all they are too long! Second, the inner cable itself is too short. If you install the end inside the couch first, when you try to install the cable on the pull handle, it pops open the foot rest. If you install the pull handle end first, the plastic stop that is supposed to snap into the frame won't reach the hole it goes into.
Thank you for your easy tutorial. This is EXACTLY what I needed to do. I could not figure out how to get the old cable loose. How simple and easy just to raise the foot rest a little. The cable I bought want to short. This gave me the confidence to install the old cable onto the new handle. Thanks again!
Same with me. I just couldn't see how to unhook the old cable hook and I worked at it for ages. I had seen someone else release the footrest for better access, but couldn't get mine to release. This morning I looked at the parts and followed the logical progression and found the place to lift and it opened right up. Everything was easy after that.
