The parts that I bought are called TOYOTA YARIS SEDAN 07-11 LEFT ROOF DRIP MOLDING OEM 75552-52140 amzn.to/3zu8y7K, (affiliate link)
and TOYOTA OEM 07-11 Yaris SEDAN ONLY Roof-Drip Molding Right PASSENGER'S 75551-52160 amzn.to/3BncYOi. (affiliate link)
Replacing the Roof Drip molding on a 2007 Toyota Yaris. This is the piece of rubber at the top of the car, on each side of the car.
This is for the sedan 2007 Yaris, will fit other years as well, but make sure you do a check on the Toyota parts site.

Thought for sure there would be some kind of adhesive involved in replacement. Mine on both sides tear off half way up every time I go through a car wash. I tamp them back down as best I can. The underside of the strips looks rusted. Therefore, I've been avoiding washing my car. Thank you for showing me how simple a fix this will be!

Thank you so much for all your help! Before passed my test my brother looked after my car & somebody shockingly stole my driver side drip moulding (he lives in a really nice area & I don’t, so the theft came as a surprise! Sadly my garage was damaged beyond repair so whilst I’m awaiting a new one allotting, I dare not replace valve caps & other bits & bobs, but I still need to learn how to do these little jobs in the meantime!) I thought I’d never find a video to help with this, it’s either Mustang, chrome ones or even for building houses! Mine is a mk1 2003 but I’m sure it will fit the same! Thanks so much!!

I just bought a 2008 Toyota Yaris hatchback a few months ago and didn't realize that it was missing both of the roof moldings until like a month later when it was raining and it started dripping in on the headliner where the plastic meets the felt. I wasn't able to find the part online so I just put some caulk temporarily to stop it from raining and that has worked so far. I'm going to order repair do they just snap in or do you have to put some type of adhesive / sealant underneath? They would have to have a pretty snug fit to keep water out
@burrheadjr
@burrheadjr 3 года назад
Great example of what can happen without these on the car. What you described can happen with worn out moldings as well. These just snap in, adhesive is not needed. You will need to dig out all the caulk you put in there for them to fit right, if you had any in the channels. It should be pretty easy once you get the caulk out.

this is exactly what's happening to me right now with my 07 hatchback, plus water was dripping exactly where yours is too. I found the moldings online not too long ago and they finally came in. I'm thinking about putting sealant to seal up where I found out was where the water came in. Is that a good idea or should the moldings be enough?
@burrheadjr
@burrheadjr 3 года назад
@@angelicasandoval3477 the moldings should be enough. Sealents are usually easy to add, but tough to remove. Give it a go with just the molding, and you should be good to go.
@williamrobinson6377
@williamrobinson6377 3 года назад
@@angelicasandoval3477 I'm sorry but I disagree, you will need to add sealant underneath because there are small hairline cracks if you will take a very close look inside of the channel itself. Toyota didn't do a very good job designing this part of the car
@williamrobinson6377
@williamrobinson6377 3 года назад
@@angelicasandoval3477 because it is a rain channel essentially a gutter, the rubber piece simply prevents the majority of water from collecting, water still gets down around and underneath the plastic trim. So without sealant you will still have a leak a bit a slower one. I would advise buying some clear sealant and putting it on with a small paint brush before you install your new trim pieces. Wish you the best of luck, I love my little Yaris!

The one in the video, and the replacement I got did not have any adhesive. I don't think they are supposed to. I think someone may have used the adhesive as a cheap and quick way to fix the leak? Hello i have a few questions about this: first: what is the purpose of that strip? And: when you put the new one in i noticed that the strip is not fully connected to the car (in length and width). Shouldn't it connect on all sides? And 3: why is it only connected at the front and the back? Doesn't it need some sort of glue? (i'm just asking, i know almost nothing about cars...but i have one strip loose) Thanks in advance!

You shouldn’t need sealant because it channels the water through it, it’s a guttering for your car, so it needs to be able to do its job & be clear! It seems you’d have someone trapped under there if it’s rusted or the moulding itself in perished & not channelling water away. my mk1 had 1 stolen 2 years ago & just bought a replacement yet to fit & due to repeated garage vandalism has been outside collectively for 6 months & before that was outside 2 years & even mine hasn’t rusted!

Also make sure that you get for either 3 or 5 door! Also check the part is from your country or a country that drives on the same side, as driver-side in one country isn’t necessarily the driver-side in another country! I’m in the UK & sit on the right to drive on the left hand side of the roads- yet most countries sit on the left & drive on the right of the roads! Just best be sure as it might not fit correctly & for a strip of rubber they aren’t cheap! So just be sure before you order! @@burrheadjr There is the more basic question: "Why does the car design call for grooves on the roof in the first place if all the roof drip molding does is form an artificial surface that is on the same exact precise line (down to the level of an atom's width) where the metal would have been if they never created those silly grooves in the first place during the mfg process? Seems like a better design would simply not make the grooves in the first place so that there would be no need to spend extra money and resources doing nothing at all except to pretending like the grooves don't exist. Talk about an exercise in completely avoidable futility (and unncessary cost increases). OR, do the top sides of those moldings actually create a slight concavity and rest slightly lower than the surrounding roof so that they still function as a channel to prevent water from dripping directly from the roof all over the tops of the side door windows? Eagerly awaiting an answer!
@burrheadjr
@burrheadjr 3 года назад
@@BrucknerMotet without the drip molding, the water would roll off into the side doors, and leak into the car there. And if you are driving, with the windows down, and you were to have a bear metal trench, once the wind hits the channel, water would spray everywhere, even inside if you had the windows cracked. The molding directs the water to where it will drain without getting into the car, and without it sitting and staying in the channel.
