Great video, but to anyone watching this, please make sure to disconnect the battery prior to doing anything! You dont want to screw around with airbags or risk frying something by keeping your battery connected!

After almost a year of no cruise control I didn’t realize there was a quick and effective fix. With this video, 26 bucks and an hour on my hands I have both cruise control and a working horn. Thank you so much for the awesome tutorial!

Hey Bud, I watched the vid, ordered a spring off Amazon for $35 and installed it (dealer in Oregon in 2023 wanted $431, Napa asked $331, I paid $35+ tax!!!). It took me 43 minutes including finding and putting away my tools as well as rewatching portions of this video. Everything works afterwards! Very happy content consumer! Cheers 🍻

Awesome little vid. I bought a clock spring off eBay for 19.95 and followed this guide. Toyota wanted 725 (I'm Canadian) for the part plus shop labor. Haha. This took twenty minutes and now my CC works again and airbag light is back off. Perfect! Thank you!

This video was a HUGE help. THANKS 737 mechanic - U-D-Man!!!!! Based on the price of the part ($250), etc, I bet it woulda been $1k repair bill. My Tacoma is a 2013 and other than the steering wheel radio(etc) controls looking different the procedure was the same. After that, it is a bit easier to replace the bottom steering column bezzle BEFORE installing the steering wheel. The downside of this is you can't test all your steering wheel functions without the steering wheel assembled. So: 1) Disassemble steering wheel and remove clock spring. 2) install new clock spring. 3) plug in ALL the plugs on the bottom of the steering wheel. 4) reinstall the steering column bottom bezel by snapping in place and then install the 2 phillips screws. 5) reinstall the steering wheel 6) etc. Another tip is that not only did I mark the end of the steering column shaft, but I then removed the 19MM steering wheel nut and then made a corresponding chisel mark on the steering wheel hub surface below the nut. The idea being that I was able to align the 2 marks so as to be POSITIVE that the wheel was reinstalled in it's exact original position. Like 737Mecanic said, even one spline off is just a little bit off but not acceptable. Also if you disconnect your battery - highly recommended to prevent accidental air bag deployment - your computer may get mixed up and the vehicle won't run (idle) right. I had this problem, again RU-vid to the rescue, but I did have to fiddle around with it for about 1/2 hr to get it to work right.

Thank you so much for posting this! There was one from 7 years ago just above yours and man did it sub compared to yours. In fact, it was dangerous because it didn't mention the battery disconnection necessity and a whole lot of other things. And your camera technique was also super. Thank you so much I'm going to try it myself.

I noticed the clock spring from Amazon was good for 2005-2009 Toyota Tacoma. Mine is a 2011 as yours is. I'll Verify the pins but so far yours has worked fine??
@737mechanic
@737mechanic Год назад
Yes mine is still going strong with no problems. 2005-2013 take the same clock spring so I am not sure why Amazon shows the years from 2005 to 2009. There are however two different ones depending on if you have steering wheel radio controls and or cruise control.

No problems installing, got my horn, and cruise control back, airbag light went out, but now my slip indicator light is staying on. Got code U0126 which is "Lost Communication with Steering Angle Sensor Module." It wasn't on before I put the new clock spring in.
