We look at how to get your wooden stock on any gun to look polished, shiny and new again. We look at the different types of finishes...oil...lacquer or in my case marine grade gloss varnish. We need to protect the detailed chequering and so we cover this in tape and give it a non slip oil finish once we have done the gloss. We look at the Tru-oil system and discuss some of the do's and don'ts. Cover everything that you don't want polished with masking tape. We look at the different grades of sandpaper we need for a smooth glossy finish. Have a look at mine and if you like it...have a go...it's not that difficult...Thanks for watching...stay well and happy shooting...Roger Pace

@@rogerpace9322 Your iPhone does support a time lapse mode. When you go to your camera app, scroll on the band just above the capture button, to the left until you see Time-Lapse. This should be a great addition to your video making tools :)

Wow, great job........looks like a brand new gun. My stock has a few minor nicks in it and I think I’ll bring it to Krieghoff at the end of the year for them to buff out as they have in the past. I’m not very handy and don’t trust myself to do anything like this LOL. Excellent work and great video as always

Very informative presentation Roger, in your usual style that everyone can understand. That stock looks the biz, you can be proud of it mate. What's you thoughts on applying "boiled linseed oil" periodically to a standard stock that hasn't had any kind of fettling done to the finish? I have a 2 year old B725 that i always apply a light dusting of Legia spray followed by a good buffing with a micro fibre cloth when i've finished my cleaning regime prior to storing. All the best. 👍

Hi Roger, your videos are always interesting and it's a pleasure to see you every time. (By the way, did you cancelled the one with the 30 tips for a happy life?) I think that you didn't applied the tru oil in the correct way. I know that you don't have to thin the tru oil, unless you are starting from the naked wood. Moreover, I have understood that you applied it with a brush, and this is a big mistake. I know, and made by myself on my stocks, that tru oil has to be applied with a wad ( or should I say a swab ?) or also with your finger, but always in very, very thin layers. Then let to dry for some hours. Then again another layer. Repeat up to three times a day. Every some applications, you have to sand with the finest sand paper, then with steel wool, the finest you can find (00 or 000 if I am not wrong). Then repeat several times. The higher the number of cycles, the better is the result. For the finest guns this procedure can last up to several weeks...... You can find lot of videos on you tube, like the following one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H4QBM3aR2Sw.html This is considered the best way to obtain optimum results for the finest guns. Anyway, I have to say that your stock appears really beautifull: glossy but not to much, smooth and silky. Also the color of the wood, dark, is really elegant and it well fits with a very nice gun. My compliments and stay well.

Tony ...the ASE GOLD is a lovely gun and I love shooting it...but...so far I am not shooting any better with it...BUT...because of the change in guns I have dropped some bad habits in my pre shot routine and that has been a good thing...to be honest I am not shooting any better than I did with the 690..I only changed cos the 690 broke and i was without a gun for a few weeks...maybe it will help in the future...stay well and t6hanks !!!
