Africanized bees ARE an big issue here. Many swarms I've collected, I have to end up tarping. It's sometimes too dangerous to try to re-queen.

I think this is a great way Idea even for Fred other video he did with Mr. Jimenez bee hive for heroes, swarms can even be donated to them too. I will be wondering if you do it as nonprofit organizations donors what would be the insurance can be at at the property owners. At the time been is removed.

If as a beekeeper you are in more than one organization is there a way to have multiple codes in different orgs are using the embedded form - such as local group as well as state org?

This is good timing Mr. Dunn, I will be making a split today, 2 deeps, 2 mediums completely full of bees. I’ve had a beard of bees for the last 6 days on the outside of the hive. My estimate 3 deep frames worth of bees. What do I do with those bees? My plan is to end up with 1 deep and one medium on each post split hive. If there are no Queen cells it WBr a walk away split. I just don’t know what to do with the bearded bees. Thx.
@FrederickDunn
@FrederickDunn 5 месяцев назад
You could just make a split by removing some brood frames, and then place those frames of brood into another hive right next to the exisitng hive. Some of the bearding bees will drift into the new hive as it has a familiar brood scent. They can produce a new queen from existing eggs that you move over into the new box. Relieves congestion, and creates a new colony. :)

so cool, ive benefitted from connecting w local police dept ,and getting swarm calls,but have to differentiate cut outs from the easier collections,because of legal liability, opening walls,dealing with property managenent...etc great interview

Good interview that , could you imagine having a neighbour that wouldn’t let you get your bees out his/her tree as I bet it happens as many people forget you don’t actually own the bees once they swarm
@FrederickDunn
@FrederickDunn 5 месяцев назад
That's an interesting dynamic. And, it goes both ways, I know a beekeeper who says " once they leave my property they aren't my bees " much to the dismay of a neighbor who now has bees on her gutters :) Tanging... has its origins in claiming swarms when keepers would claim a swarm with a bell, or clanking metal together. Bee friendly :)

Lots of swarms on there over a week old.
@MateoKaiser
@MateoKaiser 5 месяцев назад
That's definitely possible! Right now, the website finds the nearest beekeepers and notifies them, but there's no distinction between a beekeeper who is nearer and one that is further. I'm for sure planning to add a little notification to the dashboard that shows when you're the nearest beekeeper to a swarm.
@mark_coyle
@mark_coyle 5 месяцев назад
@@MateoKaiser When looking at the reported swarms, it shows all of them, including those that are twice as far away as the moon. LoL. Would be nice to be able to sort by distance, or within a radius of a zip code, instead of just by date or availability. Any swarms over a week old should either be removed or reconfirmed. Possibly adding a separate section for cutouts could be helpful also. Thanks.
@MateoKaiser
@MateoKaiser 5 месяцев назад
@@mark_coyle Sorry about that, there was a bug with the new version of the dashboard where some beekeepers saw swarms on their dashboard from outside their radius. If you take a look now it's fixed and your dashboard should be empty until a swarm is reported in your area.

Fred, thank you and your club for sharing this! I registered and will be sharing it with our club, your friends south of your club. As a side note, I caught 2 swarms this week and actually had a third one that was on the center poll of a pine tree. I could not scoop them off so tried my "Swarm Reacher" I had bees going on to the frame but admittedly, didn't give it enough time to work and decided to put a nuc with the entrance against the cluster. Thought I had them since quite a few marched in but the queen and scouts had somewhere better in mind. Watched them break cluster and fly away. IF I ONLY KNEW SOMEONE WITH A BEE VAC ! 🤔

Hi there. Re Bee Swarms and needing the Tools to Capture them. Eg : Portable Self Powering Vacs. I highly recommend the Battery Vacuums that use click on "Battery" and have a 'spare' or two. . . 👀 Any Manufacturer who makes a "Wet and Dry Vac" with its Carry Tote Box. Many are made by various big Tool Companies here in the UK, US etc. Here in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 there are ones made by the following : Worx : Black & Orange. DeWalt : Black & Yellow Draper : Black & Blue. (Think the one Factory in China must have the same Mold or Template !) 🤭 : All look the same but come in different Colours with plenty of Battery options to choose from ! Not all fit 'another though'. So check before purchasing : Re Battery 'style'. The Worx Company make a 'Cube' Shaped Vacuum. I have found this Ideal to strap on top of a Poly Nuc. Easy and Light. (Eg when up a Ladder.) While their bigger Unit has a longer Hose and an Internal Wet / Dry Filter. For a Bigger Swarm maybe in a Confined Place : eg a Chimney, inside a Wall Cavity etc. With a Floor based Bigger Hive Box. 👍 Both these Devices are used interchangeably taking the "Same style Chargeable Batteries". Good knowing any extra DIY Drills, DIY Tools, even a Lawn Trimmer etc. . Are all using the same Battery Pack (Gear) (*Check the Manufacturer for multiple Cross Platform Battery use ! Some flat based, Some Slot via a Round 'design'. How they 'connect' matters : even if they all 'take 21V Batteries ! . . . Just saying.) And don't forget that Spare one ! Collecting Swarms takes some Vacuuming : AND Battery usage too. . . 😁 * Can't confirm that the other Named Companies above do the same. So check which Tools you have already. Share those Batteries, why buy more !?! And go with the same 'type' : re Batteries you have already : Drill, Cut, and now "Capture " ! BEES, whats not to like. . . 🙃 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 Happy Beekeeping 2024 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 The beeSwarmed.org Website is interesting. Might join later. Meanwhile: I have "Caught" numerous Swarms [all to date Incoming ones, even a "Marked Queen" lost by another Beek in the locality !] All by placing a few "Bait Hives in my Rural /Front/ South Facing Garden. Nice to have the Bees find me ! Rather than take the Gear to them.* Now I have x2 Dinky Cube Vacs with x2 Batteries. And a Large Box type also with x2 Batteries. I can go and get : 'Collect' somebody else's Bees. Free Bees are good to get as long as you do a prompt Varroa Mite Treatment !!! Once relocated to your Home Apiary ! 😎 I do 'controlled Splits' as well as Queen Rearing : 'Breeding'. So my Bees never Swarm ! Or to date : Not Swarmed so far. . . Now in my returning x5th Year of Having numerous Hives. As Beekeepers it's realky good practice : to keep on top of your Hive Management. Who wants 2/3rds of their 'Hive' Leave ! And for that to get into an awkward Spot like in side a Neighbours Chimney. "Just saying" . . . 😖
