Well by the logic of the last sentence, if Diane is still a teacher and should be reported, Diance said that she is a teacher then, Katie's feeling for Thomas could still be well intact and shouldn't be altered in anyway by using "liked" instead of "like". Does anyone feel what I am saying?

what about the person's name, if the name is the same afterwards then wouldnt we say, "she asked me what my name is" and not, "she asked me what my name was"
