It is a wonderful keiki. I just did not understand the reason why you separated them. I once brought a big keiki from a friend of mine but the roots never adapted to water and I lost it. Wish you better luck with your Dendrobium 😀

I now realise that I shouldn't have separated the keiki from the primary keiki, but I didn't want it growing out sideways. I hope they will both develop independently and then I will have two. Thanks for joining me Fernanda.

@@orchidsgardeninengland1682 I am sure they will do ok, they will sprout new canes in no time. I just asked because I always prefer to have a bushier plant rather than more of the same. But it is good if you prefer to have more than one of the same. All reasons/options are valid. Good luck with them, hope the roots will accept the new set up and the plants romp away. 😄💓

Ahhhh! 😱 😱 😱 You separated this years new growth from the mother keiki!

No I didn't Michael; March 2018, so the keiki's I removed were last year's new growths. The new growths for this year (4 of them), we about 4" tall and looked really healthy). The orchid just sat in a westerly aspect in her conservatory, no humidifier, no fertilising and it hadn't been repotted!

@@orchidsgardeninengland1682 Unfortunately you did. You had a singe keiki that grew last year (the big fat cane) with a new growth for this year on it that you split off. Had you not separated them, the new growth probably would have flowered next spring.

@@michaelmccarthy4077 so the larger keiki had become the mother, had I realised that I probably wouldn't have detached it. That's a real bummer on my behalf, still I'll know next time! Thanks Michael and enjoy your weekend p.s. I do wish you had a RU-vid channel, then I could follow you 😊

That’s a timely made video on keiki , bcoz you know . I am in the mid of such projects, and your potting shall help me a lot !! But ~~ * you did not mentioned the preparation part of the keiki before you take it off !! The selection of bigger pot and twist is perfect !! Each time I see you . I learn new !! Well positioned the Sinamen powder in the effected area !! This time your audio was perfect !! It was comfortable to listen !! It was way tough to place it in the CENTER ! Aha ? !! * Why did you separate them ? Was both a keiki ? Or one was the mother plant ?? * How you are going to treat after potting ? I mean when you start fertilising and other feeds ? * Can you share the recipe and diet ? So many Q . Hope you do not fire me ;))
