Hey guys! Back to plant chores! This time, it's the much needed repot of my PPP. She was only 4" tall when I first got her, and now she's almost 4 feet tall! Stay tuned for the propagation video when it gets closer to spring time-I'm gonna take multiple cuttings! Thanks for watching! ☺️

With larger plants use ceramic planters to put nursery pot in and it looks nicer too

Beautiful PPP! It's nice to see that the variegations improved as it matures! That gives me hope 😁

bro that plant is gorgeous and the way to fix the tipping over is by buying a little bit larger pot and placing a large rock or brick in the bottom. every single tall plant I own has a brick at the bottom. none of them tip anymore. yes they weigh a little more to move around but my cats are jumpers and my plants were being damaged before when they were too light weight.. or... use heavy ceramic pots.. another option.

Thanks for sharing this video .... I just purchased my first pink princess, it was just starting to push one leaf on top when I bought it and when I get it home I noticed it has another smaller one at the bottom starting to come out. I would say it's about maybe a foot high, I wouldn't say it has tremendous pink areas but there are some. I think I'm going to try and propogate it in the near future. I'm going to check out some of your other videos and Instagram. Btw I'm in Ontario Canada ;)

Hi! Nice video! I would have bury the bare bottom stems in a deeper pot. It will grow roots in the mix. The result of doing this is that you will have a more compact looking plant. But I think you would have done something about it since this video was shot a year ago.

Hello! Just wanted to let you know that systemic granules don’t treat spider mites, I actually heard they can cause them 😩😅 I use AzaMax for spider mites.
@SuchPlants
@SuchPlants Год назад
Thank you for confirming! I know the packaging doesn’t mention treating spider mites, but I guess people are saying that it still works. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Oh well…. And thank you for the suggestion! I’ll look into AzaMax 😊

Beautiful plants. I love the bonded. I have never had spidermites but I think DE fights them. Use a big makeup brush and dab the diatomaceous earth all on the leaves. Less messy and it targeting

Neem oil, not sprayed! Water everything with neem oil and anything that feeds off the plants will die. I water with it more often in the summer, we have many thrips from the neighbors and I just almost gave up on having plants until I found out you can just water with it.
@user-wb3oo6hs7b
@user-wb3oo6hs7b 4 месяца назад
The spider mites are probably living in the roots too. Just redo the whole plant and wash off all the root and start all over.

I had spider mites pretty bad on 3 Alocasia’s and the only thing that worked for me was a solution I mixed. Bonner Castile soap 1/3 cup, 1 tablespoon of neem oil, 10 drops of essential peppermint oil and 16 oz of distilled water. It took maybe 3 or 4 treatments once a week of this mix. Also I had to repot those plants because I think the spider mites were laying eggs in the old soil!

When battling spider mites repotting is almost a must if an infestation is oncoming
@AntoninJezek
@AntoninJezek 9 месяцев назад
Mites are not affected by the usual insecticide. They need miticide. Many insecticides also make them worse and produce more. You need things like spinosad and azadirachtin. Those have an effect on spidermites. Also, completely replacing the soil and disinfecting the roots should help, but if you had spidermites on one plant, you'll likely see them on others even if there is not an infestation.
@jessh9988
@jessh9988 11 месяцев назад
I hope you found some better pest control! If not I'd try Arber insecticide and miticide, it's seriously amazing and much safer for you to handle. Take care.

Hi!!! Are you adding the liquid systemic every watering?
@SuchPlants
@SuchPlants Год назад
Hi! No, so far I’ve used it about once every 1-2 months, but that’s because I was trying to treat the spider mites. However, someone commented that it doesn’t actually treat spider mites! 😳 Still, I haven’t seen any negative effects on my plants.

Is there a reason you don’t trim off the leaves when damaged by the spider mites? What would it cause if you did take those off?
@SuchPlants
@SuchPlants 10 месяцев назад
If I trimmed, it would probably focus more energy into producing new leaves at the top, but then the plant would look bare.

Ah yes, the chop & extend method! It makes me nervous having to switch to a sphagnum moss pole because keeping it moist in my dry climate would be a challenge, and sphag can get expensive. But I’ll try that method one day! Mature leaves are so 🤌🏼

Pot sizes are always a bit of a tightrope. Too large, and the roots sit in too much water and risk rot. Too small, and the roots have absorbed all the potting medium and only a tight rootball remains, which will be unable to absorb nutrients and water. Regarding the mites…my best success is with horticultural soap and sulphur based products, plus diatomaceous earth on the top of the potting medium. Plus….patience, as mites are incredibly persistent and hardy against most products (if applied only once or twice) Addendum: any time you have an infestation of any kind…please don’t reuse the potting medium. Always discard soil/potting medium to prevent reinfestation. Sometimes it’s better safe than sorry.
