[Reproduction beat makeup challenge] "93 Til Infinity" / Souls Of Mischief 

This is some real hip-hop shit. It takes an incredibly sharp ear to do this; it is not at all an easy exercise, but you make it look relaxed and fun. Vinyl has a charm that cannot be replaced by mere "laptop DJs." '93 Til Infinity to this day remains one of the quintessential tracks from Oakland, California (aka "The Town"). The slower, jazz-based beat underscores a more mundane and down-to-earth subject matter that was uncommon at the time. In many ways, it represents a distinctly West Coast and Bay Area flavor of hip-hop that evolved on the opposite end of the continent from NYC. Hope you continue this series!! Every time I hear this song, I remember watching the Souls of Mischief perform it in Downtown LA around 2001 and a fight breaking out during the song. Everyone in the crowd, except me, got scared and left the dancefloor. I threw up 2 ✌️ signs and stayed on the dancefloor vibing. Souls kept performing 93 til, they saw me standing alone in the center of the dancefloor, throwing up peace signs and head bobbing while 2 dudes was fighting next to me. The beat kept going, Souls stopped rapping at the same time. They all threw up peace signs with one hand while holding mics in the other... Then they started saying something like, "We ain't here for that. We here in peace." They kept repeating that message while throwing up peace signs, and the crowd came back to the dancefloor, stopped the fight, and the party kept going like nothing ever happened! I ALWAYS remember that memory when I hear this song.
