Great video. This is exactly what I need to listen to. At some point this year im going to be heavily investing into several ball python projects. Thanks for all that you do. I can honestly say that about 85% of all my knowledge from research has come from your videos and recommendations. Cant wait for the next part of this series!!!
@@OlympusReptiles im patiently waiting for the grern light and im going to be investing $50,000. This includes feeding and an "oh shit" fund lol for the first year and a half or so. Im looking into TGR racks and their mid size incubator. I have 6 snakes now. Hoping to jump into some cool double ressesive like lighting pied, clown lavender albino, as well as sunsets and some incompletes too.
I spent months researching snakes. I only have a few snakes and I’m starting to get into RU-vid but I did enough research to know what morphs I want. I can’t wait to start breeding my own animals though. It’s going to be next year though by the time my females are at size. Great video as always
Always appreciate these talks about the brass tacks and business. I spent 6 years researching and planning (and made a point to follow as many breeders I like so I can keep up-to-date with what's going on) and now just this year will be conducting my first breeding. Excited for what it brings!
i like the way u just looked at the camera and was like if u dont got a cushion ... UR FUCKED lol i mean its true just the way u said it lol i was crying
💚💚🐍💚💚 Best video yet! Thank you! I especially like that you pointed out the benefits of having a cushion. It reminded me of the financial advisor Dave Ramsey's baby step #1: Save a $1000 small emergency fund.
A wise man once said....never sell no ***** where you rest at, I don't care if they want a ounce tell'm bounce. No worries about slipping on frozen dog piss. I'm enjoying this topic very much, keep up the good work.
Thank you for the info. I have five ball pythons and thinking about starting out as the "basement breeder" until I get some more knowledge about all these different morphs and combos.
Ty, and it's true. Harder to learn from experience without research. But research is just information, you really aren't learning a trade until it's applied. Look at med school. They have clinicals so the research can be applied and paired with experience, not just saying this dude got an A, he can now perform heart surgery.
《dobber 》 with that did a whole bunch of research and things didn’t go quite as planned. Not in terms of getting stung. That’s going to happen. Like u r going to keep snakes u r going to take a bite eventually.
Thanks for doing videos like this I work for place that breeds ball pythons and one of the biggest rat breeder on the East cost. I am so lucky to work for the place like I do I am get the knowledge about the animals and the business and me and my wife both go to shows and work for this place mythical Exotics . The wife and I want to start breeding some time next year . We are Focusing on getting all the stuff we need in learning more about the animals we want to breed I really do appreciate the videos you make and you guys are awesome enjoy your day
Southwestern Pennsylvania. We're lucky to blessed with reptile shows. We have 2 that are monthly and 1 that's every other month and a couple more that are spring and fall shows. All within an hour to an hour and a half drive.
This is true. Love the Hamburg show, although it would be great to see them in a larger space. I'm sure you've heard of the new show in Gettysburg, excited to check it out next month.
@@joelewis9755 I have. Not sure if I'll be able to make it. Hoping to though. We decided to make the trip out to the Hamburg show a couple years back. Place is sooo packed. I honestly feel like they need to designate one way movement on their isles.
Great video very informative for people looking to get in the business! Just have to say roaches are not bad, however they can get a little messy sometimes.
It doesnt take long for negitive feedback to get around the community and reputation is everything. You can do a 1000 things right but that 1 wrong thing can damage your reputation and push you right out of the hobby...
@@dobber43 yes they are both visual hets. But the part about in-dom usually meaning a a leathal homozygous form is incorrect. Co-dom actually means roughly half of the area shows patches of the morph in its homozygous state (imagine a genetic 50/50 paradox in het form). While incomplete dominance is more blended rather than patches.
Quality is important. Trusted source is important. Which is likely to be there in 5 years, people like me, jkr, bhb, nerd, or some guy you never heard of with no history? So it can be of value. How much, is up to the customer. Ultimately, they decide
I was watching Kenan the other day and I believe to run his camp cost 800$ month in electric, the guy over at iguana land claimed 6000k a month in the winter. Doing a decent sized bp project like you have do the electric bills get that inflated?
I was wondering something you might know the answer to. Is Spotnose X Champagne a fatal combo? I have not been able to find a consistent answer in all my reading. Some think it is and others don't. I have seen a few of those on Morph Market that appear to be fine. One of the regulars on here has a gorgeous male Champagne combined with one or two other genes that I'm interested in maybe next after the current female I'm paying off is paid up. I have a female Spotnose Leopard 66% het Clown and before I commit to buying the Champagne male I want to be sure there won't be genetic problems breeding with my Spotnose female. I was originally thinking he'd be a good mate for my Butter Black Pewter female but also think he and my other female would have beautiful offspring if it is safe to try.
I wouldn't. It isn't fatal, I have seen it work. BUT wobble is a thing, and combining any two genes that wobble has higher risk, and a high chance of causing the issue of a much worse wobble. We always talk about the vast majority of spiders being fine. Same with champagne, spotnose, etc. But, combining any two makes it much higher chance of debilitating wobble.
This is a great series! Quick question. Just finished our first year breeding and one of babies is a morph that I can not find anywhere except that someone created one and its pictured on genetic wizard. How should I figure out its $$ value and also what factors should be considered when deciding to "sell" or "holdback" ?
I saw someone on craigslist selling a pied het albino het paradox and was like this guy is either dumb or got scammed cause im 99.99% certain paradox doesnt work like that
Olympus Reptiles I know that was his and not yours but if insurance doesn’t cover something like your snake collection when your doing it in your basement then having that money set aside would be great to have. Glad all is going well for you. Are you going to the reptile show here in denver Co next week? 22/23?
Also, part of it is on purpose now, before it was just organic. A swear word or two should help RU-vid not say we market to children since we show animals. Marketing to children is now very bad.
