In this video I'll showcase some of my reptile thermostats including the VE-100, VE-300, VE-300x2, Herpstat-2, Herpstat-4, Jumpstart, and Greenhouse thermostat. Enjoy!
Thanks again Chris for the great video and Amazing content ....Every time i need to know something i just look through your videos and i always find what i need to know THANKS AGAIN CHRIS
Nice video! When I started my channel 11 years ago it was called 'AAAWebmaster'. And when I go to SocialBlade.com to check my stats it still says aaawebmaster in my channel link. LOL '
Most people don't recommend it, but I typically plug them all into a power strip, then plug the power strip into the thermostat. When they all come on feel them to see which gets the hottest the fastest, then tape the probe to the hot one, keeps them from overheating.
Chris can you please post a link to the thermostat alarm that you have ? You mentioned that one of your thermostats doesnt have an alarm so you bought a cheap alarm for it in case one of them goes out it will let you know. Does the alarm sound when your probe fails or just if the thermostat turns off? Thanks.
Chris my amibet air temp is around 68 in place. I just got a rack from c Serpents and it seems like my heat gun is less than my set temp. So for example I am rubbing 72 to 75 on different levels. I am shooting the bottom of the tub and the foil going over the heat tape. Please Help
Correct me if I’m wrong, still learning! So if I have a rack with 5 pieces of heat tape on one plug I would only have to put that probe in 1 tub to read all 5 correct?
Chris I have a question, on the Vivariums website it says the VE-300 only offers pulse and on/off but in your video it offers dimming option. Is that a new feature added or am I overlooking something? Could you please clarify this as I’m interested in purchasing one but if it has dimming.
So the question i have is, since you have both VE and herpstat which do you like most? We have VE-200 for the incubator (because it's a proportional thermostat), a VE 300x2 and 3x VE300 but have been contemplating making the jump to herpstat since we're also upgrading the racks to ars racks away from the VE racks.
Chris Hardwick awesome thank you. Probably a stupid question but I'm planning to build up my collection to start y own breeding projects. I need all the help I can get 😂
Thermometer or thermostat? I usually use one of each just in case, I have a thermometer with an alarm, the thermostat controls the temp. Any will do...
So I'm a bit confused with how many thermostats I need or will need. If I have a hatching rack or juvenile rack with 7 bins, how do i set up the heat and how many thermostats . I have a ve 100 and I'm told it will run my 2 fb20 singles plugging a power strip into unit with both heat tapes on it, I assume the thermostat reads one bin and makes other identical. But what happens when there are 7 or more etc.
You'll have to figure out how many watts per foot your heat strips take and make sure you don't go above the max wattage of the thermostat. It will control quite a few but they tend to be a little off in temps from one to another, best to use a heat gun to check them.
Most people will put one thermostat on an entire rack system with heat tape on every level. You can do that but make sure your heat strips are all the same length and type. Also, I found the heat varies from the top, middle, and bottom of the rack. For exact temps I use thermostats that have four temp probes, one thermostat for four heat strips, that's what I use on my female breeders. I have several of these: amzn.to/2TSQRwD
What size heat tape should be used for 41q rack is built juts like the racks you have I have 6 inch tape now and I have to set the ve200 and I have to set it a 94 to get the 89 at the heat tape and that with a high end heat tape is it possible the probe need to be change
