Absolutely. I know many countries in Europe have beautiful scenery, and Slovenia was stunning, but Bosnia is up there with the best. I still remember driving down that mountain and just seeing rolling hills with a beautiful lake at the bottom right in the heart of Bosnia. Everywhere you go in Bosnia there is beautiful nature, beautiful forests, beautiful mountains, beautiful rivers. I don't know why more tourists don't come (maybe Bosnians don't want them anyway) when it's such a beautiful country, relatively cheap compared to France or Germany, and has its own unique culture and feel, but still a modern country. Everyone I have met in the Balkans has been either kind to me or at worst neutral / not bothered. Nobody has been unkind during my travels and that surprised me since my country has, historically, got involved in quite a few things we didn't need to around the world.
On behalf of all guys from Vlasenica, I can say that it was a pleasure meeting you and spending time with you. You are a great traveler and videographer, and most importantly great chap and friend. Now you have lifelong Serbian friends from Vlasenica :). I hope we will see each other soon, take care and have a nice and safe trip. Srdjan P.S. Let's go Schekovitz

Best yet, I think. It's always great to have locals show you around rather than just following the tourist trail. And what lovely people! Happy birthday btw!

Looks like I missed a strange comment. Yes Russia and Serbia are allies but no I don't feel in any danger here just because I'm British. In fact, Serbians have been kinder to me than any other nation I've visited so far (Italians a close second). I've been stopped by the police maybe 3/4 times and never any trouble, just ask to see some documents and I move on. There's probably more people who dislike English people living in England than in Serbia. And that's after we won the football...
I loved it. I encourage everyone to go and visit. It's much cheaper than Western Europe and the culture is different, so you can really live well even on a small budget and have a good time. Lots of great people to meet too!

Thank you so much! I won't make it to Montenegro this time around, but I am coming back to the Balkans for sure and when I do, Montenegro is top of the list as I have never been. I will come and find you!
That's how it was like in Serbia - land was communal. All the relatives/villagers shared the land. It's the "feed each other mentality" to survive. I think the Slavs preserved this way of living for a long time and this is just the remnant of how humans used to live. There was no such thing as "owning the earth". I wish the world did not become so greedy but that all came with $.
Yep, you're absolutely right. And actually there's enough land to go around. Even our equivalent of allotments is not really the same since people own that land. Here it just seems like if the land is communal and like Dado said, it's okay to grow things there. I kind of love and admire that - it's totally different to how things are in the UK, but it's much better I think. In Serbia I really felt like people were looking out for each other and there's a sense of community spirit that exists in the small towns. It's not without its problems like every country, but the people are amazing. Your English is exceptional by the way.
This is the best representation of what Serbia really is, moost of the people when they visit serbia, they visit Novi Sad, Belgrade , (thats ugly part of srb) but they dont visit our Mountain region that is the main place of Serbian people , its coulture and lifestyle, we are mountain people
I agree completely! I have visited Novi Sad and will visit Belgrade too (sorry) but I also spent a long time in Mount Tara. I'm currently all the way down in Nis. The small towns are the best, I think. In the villages I won't find anyone who speaks English, but in the small towns it's the perfect balance. Vlasenica was an accident, but was the best place I could have ended up honestly. I also love the mountains so...

Why you gotta hate on Danmark?? 😂. Actually the slavic peoples and the vikings were very similar, and many communities all across the slavic diadpora worshipped the same gods and had many of the same customs, weapons and armour etc... in fact the kievan rus were just one example of half-norse half-slavic peoples that joined forces voluntarily.. Good to see some of those traditions are staying alive in serbia, and living off the land, close to nature. Similar in Danmark, with many pagan holidays, viking museums almost everywhere and a general sense of pride in their ancestors and beautiful old longhouses and thatched roofs and especially the natural beauty of the land. P S.: i just msde it to my flat alive after a crazy night out 🍻🥴 and posted a rambling comment about historical and ethnic bonds between vikings and slavs. So i hope we can remember that. My supervisor/boss at work is from Serbia and she is an absolute saint, and funny as hell. She could easily pass as Scandinavian too... P.P.S: Great video. I love england as well and its funny, i also am in love with the scouse accent sbove all else, followed by glassegian... And the southwestern "farmer" accent is great too. In fact its hilarious 😂 Fuckin hell i fell asleep typing this. Cheers on the great video mate, look forward to the next video. Subbed 😵💫😴🇵🇹🇩🇰🇷🇸🏴
Haha, your comment made me laugh! I have never been to Denmark but I have nothing but love! I will plot a second trip where I go to the Scandinavian countries for sure, so much history and tradition there and, just so you know, I forgive you for all the Viking raids 1,000 years ago. Sounds like you're feeling this morning just like I did after one particular night in Vlasenica. The details of which shall remain hidden. Not everything is for the camera! Lastly, I don't think people from Liverpool have ever had so much love. I hope someone from Liverpool watches this and realises that, somehow, they appear to be up there with French and Irish accents...
We take good care of our guests and travelers. Like they are our own blood. Always have, always will. All are welcome and will be treated as our kin. Just don't try to take our lands away. Fair warning.
Your lands are beautiful, but don't worry they are safe from me! What you're saying is true. Not only in Vlasenica, but in Mount Tara I stayed for a few days too and went to the same restaurant every day (Vila Tara) - the owner Milenko lived in Switzerland before and spoke great English so we just chatted every day over lunch. To me it's really nice to be in a country where the people are fiercely proud of their country, we could use more of that in England.

Wow, going down that mountain! That reminds me of my mom's village in Serbia, which is empty now. They had to go down a steep hill to fetch water from the spring. I could barely do it and it was shocking actually for me. I guess they get used to it and learn how to go up and down those hills carrying water jugs. They used to be in clay but then they used the cheap plastic jugs.
I could barely make it down carrying a camera - I can only imagine carrying water jugs. I spoke to a lady and her father in Lovnica Monastery - they moved to Canada when she was young. Her father, however, recanted walking 3 miles over the mountains every day to get to school. He got married in that monastery and she was baptised there.
Yeah I 100% see that now and I feel bad for even putting that in the video. Sometimes once a video is released I realise mistakes after but it's not really possible to correct them. The guy was completely right and it's 100% my fault for not learning about that. It might be helpful if, when entering the country, they let you know, but ultimately it is my responsibility. I have stayed in accommodation here in Serbia so I don't fall foul of this law. If anything my suspicion was because the fine was too cheap. I thought to myself if I have really broken a rule it should be more expensive. In the end, the guy forgave me and sent me on my way (because I literally didn't have enough BAM left). I actually owe him a beer and I feel pretty bad I casted doubt on his character. A lot of words there to say I agree with you, but I think writing this is my penance for breaking the rules and casting assumptions. Nevertheless, what a strange rule?
Haha, just from looking? Someone did tell me I don't have a Balkans face, but I can't really see a particular 'Balkan' face on the young guys. In the older men and ladies you can see it more clearly I think. Maybe I'm just going crazy haha.

Haha, nah he's just doing his job and he did it well. If it was a normal car it would have taken him five minutes but I have built wooden platforms and storage in everything. Plus I am basically living out of the car so I have so much stuff in there. Cameras, drones, fridge etc. Besides British man driving to Serbia for a festival does sound kinda suspicious...
