Je réécoute inlassablement cette oeuvre magistrale, divinement interprétée. Au moment où je me sens tellement épuisé, si seul, si angoissé par l'état de mon pays désespérant, me sentant si proche de ma fin, je m'abandonne.
There are many great Requiems, but Fauré's is right up there at the top of the heap. An absolute masterpiece, and possibly the most beautiful Angus Dei ever written.
It must take a considerable time to compose a piece of requiem, and how long would it take you to rank all the requiem compositions by different composers? 40 minutes or 40 seconds? Listening to classical music is meant for enjoyment, not for ranking them. Whether you like it or not, it's not about one being better than the other
Gabriel Fauré born on May 12, 1845. Very early on, he showed exceptional gifts for music, although his parents did not show the slightest liking for this art. Given his qualities, at the age of nine, he entered Niedermeyer free of charge, where he was a student between 1855 and 1865, and was taught by Saint-Saëns, ten years older than him.It makes him an excellent pianist, opening him new horizons on Bach’s work. He held several relevant positions in the music field. In 1877, he accompanied his friend Saint-Saëns to Weimar, in order to attend the first representation of Samson and Delilah mounted by Liszt. He was not influenced by Liszt and Wagner, which makes him little known and recognized, at a time when these composers were the standard at the time.In 1896, the year in which he became a member of Madeleine’s organ, he was appointed professor of composition at the Conservatory, notable and decisive phase in his career as a pedagogue. His many students (Ravel, Koechlin, Roger Ducasse, etc.) often refer to his brilliant and liberal teachings. From this time on, his career is ascendant, having received the great Legion of Honor necklace.The last moments of his life are of great isolation, due to a great deafness that forced him to resign from the Conservatory. Composed music for Theatre, vocal and piano music, chamber music, etc.Died in Paris on 4 November 1924. This Requiem the Fauré is of amazing beauty and delicacy. Do to its sensitivity and harmony, it touches us deeply in our emotionality. It is a masterpiece that expresses a religiosity that transcends us at certain times. The soloists’s voices are haunting. The choir, direction and orchestra are magnificent in this excellent interpretation, perhaps the best I’ve heard so far. Viva the beautiful music of Fauré. It’s a pity that unfairly it’s so little known.

Upon my first hearing of Faure's Requiem, at the age of 17, I was stunned by the subliminal power and beauty of the piece. I could not hear enough if it, and years later, it never fails to move me so deeply.

Herrlich. Dankbar bin ich, diese Aufführung hören zu dürfen. Ich habe Faurés Requiem in meiner Aktivzeit auch aufgeführt, mit relativ schwachen Kräften, mit eigentlich doch zu kleinem Chor, mit zum Teil Orchestermusikern, welche besten Willens waren, doch nicht immer erfüllen konnten meine Wünsche. Trotzdem waren die Aufführungen ergreifend, haha, also für mich Dirigierenden schon, mußte immer wieder mal das Heulen zurückhalten. Der Tage bin ich durchs Netz gezappt, habe x Aufführungen mir angehört, und weil ich meine eigenen Vorstellungen von Tempi, Dynamik, Agogik und so weiter blah bla habe, bin ich schwer zufriedenzustellen. Die hier vorliegende Interpretation, die ist - in meinem Ohr - wundervoll gelungen!!! Alles da, was ich wünsche. Faurés Musik erfordert extreme Expressivität. Ein Werk von Bach, einfach dahergespielt, es ist immer noch Bach, und die musikalische Aussage läßt sich auch mit langweiligstem Spiel nicht töten. Beim feinstfühlig romantischsten Komponisten, den ich kenne, da geht "richtige Töne zum richtigen Zeitpunkt spielen" gar nicht. Und eben diesem "Übel" verfallen unsere französischen Freunde im Geiste in keinem Moment. Immer und permanent ist da die innere Bewegung des Geschehens, kein langweiliger Ton, alles durchgestaltet. Wundervoll. Herzensdank. Dank an alle Euch, Ihr großartigen Musiker!
Merveilleuse interprétation ! J'avais découvert ce magnifique requiem de Fauré en l'église de Saint-Germain des Prés à Paris dans les années 80, et il m'a été donné, à nouveau, grâce à vous, et à loisir maintenant sur RU-vid, d'en savourer toute l'immensité. Les mots ne sont pas assez grands pour exprimer ma gratitude envers la cheffe d'orchestre et tous les musiciens et interprètes. Merci à vous de nous faire aimer et redécouvrir ce chef d'œuvre.

This is one of my favorite requiems. I have performed this work as a French horn player (orchestra) in many venues throughout our Richmond, VA community as well as other areas. I applaud this particular group's sensitivity under the conductor's leadership. BRAVO on a job well done!

Comment ne pas donner une interprétation aussi magique quand on est dirigés par une cheffe aussi talentueuse et imprégnée de l’œuvre avec une telle intensité....Pour l’avoir aussi interprété en tant que choriste je ne peux qu’envier et admirer tous ces artistes pour leur chance d’être dans un tel ensemble ....❤

This is so sublime. I’m learning this work for a concert in April. I can hardly believe that I get to sing this! Been a horn player for my entire musical career. Chorale singing and singing lessons are now a part of my life. I’ve come very late in life to singing! Such an amazing experience!
The Faure Requiem is so beautifully interpreted by all of the artists. It takes me back many years to Sir Kenneth McMillan’s version danced by the Stuttgart Ballet. Thank you to the conductor as a conduit flowing light to this masterpiece. Bravo!

Exquisite!! Twenty two years ago I had a partial copy of this choral. My youngest daughter listened to this before and after she was born. We had an emergency birth and were away from home for 8 days. When we arrived home she was on oxygen smiling and sleeping listening to this incredibly angelic Requiem. I've searched for years and Thank You, I now have the entire piece. Well Done! And what a perfect balance of orchestra and voice.

Mi sono innamorata di questo direttore d'orchestra ! fino a ieri non la conoscevo, oggi mi sono regalata qualche ora di riposo e ho avuto modo di ascoltare la sua fantastica interpretazione del Mozart della Grande Messa in do minore e poi quella della Incoronazione e ora questo Fauré meraviglioso, ed è stata una benedizione, un incanto assoluto. Questa donna può, senza dubbio, essere annoverata fra i più grandi direttori d'orchestra dei nostri giorni ! Bravissima ! Grazie .

Oeuvre sublime, magistralement interprétée. j'aime beaucoup l'esprit fait de mystique, de joie, qu'expriment à la fois l'oeuvre et les interprètes. L' âme quitte un monde de violence et de douleur dans l'allégresse de la libération, pour rejoindre un état de béatitude, de sérénité. Fauré a bien fait de s'écarter de l'esprit de "majesté écrasante" de tant d' oeuvres. C'est très beau. Cette interprétation est sans doute la plus sensible, la plus fidèle à l'esprit de Gabriel Fauré de toutes. La sensibilité du chef : une femme est tellement plus sensible, ce qui ne l'empêche pas d'être rigoureuse, explique la qualité de cette interprétation si bouleversante.
Interprétation bouleversante de cette oeuvre où Gabriel Fauré a éliminé toute référence à la violence et la douleur de la mort pour ne représenter, comme il le dit lui-même, que "le mot Dieu n'était que le gigantesque synonyme du mot amour".
Eh oui, que c'est beau et bon. C'est mon refuge depuis Novembre 92, quand ma sœur est partie, et c'est toujours et encore mon refuge depuis que ma gamine de 22 ans est aussi partie en 2015. Ça ne remplace pas des trous béants mais ça permet à l'esprit de se reposer dans la souffrance. Merci Monsieur Gabriel Fauré d'avoir créé un tel chef d'œuvre reposant et remplaçant tous les antidépresseurs existant. PPD

Listening to the Latin brings back memories of those long Masses spent on my knees on cold, thin carpet as an altar boy in my local Church: occasions such as Christmas Eve and Easter midnight masses, as well as funerals and weddings. And, the Latin. When the Latin went, so did my faith. But the memories still give me comfort and as time passes the soreness of my knees disappears! This recording is wonderful.

En la universidad estamos preparando ambas obras, me tuve que escuchar ambas antes de empezar, y confirmo: Mozart: temor, compasión, piedad, fúnebre, turbulencia, ser juzgado, dinamismo, obscuro, pone enfasis por momentos en sonidos graves para atemorizar Fauré: celestial, dulce, paz, armonía, angelical, sublime, aceptación, claro, lento, da mucho protagonismo a los sonidos agudos para generar esa atmósfera dulce

I love the sincerity of this performance and the passionate playing of the instrumentalists. Kind of cool that the string mélodies get as much sonic balance as the choir at many important moments. Devastatingly poignant at times!

i love this piece..........was gifted to sing it twice......this is wonderful......but to have sung it with this direction.........the expression ......her movements..........that would have been priceless ...........
Très belle interprétation qui conserve sa légèreté à ce magnifique requiem que bien d'autres interprètent avec lourdeur et lenteur. Fauré n'a pas voulu un requiem triste mais chargé d'espoir, c'est le servir et lui rendre hommage que de l’interpréter ainsi. Bravo! PS: un petit bémol sur la qualité technique et l'équilibre du son, on aurai aimé entendre d'avantage les jolis arpèges du "In Paradisium"
