The grandmother was absolutely adorable I love the way she talks and the grandson is very cute and with a strong personality already at that age. I’m sure he’s a funny guy now
Not funny at the time, but yeah, overall kind of funny in the end. Kids get themselves into some very strange places, oftentimes never thinking about how they'll get back out....well this boy obviously found out the hard way about laundry chutes.
"Well I'ma Try Darlin' How'd You Do It?!" "John Henry, How In the WORLD did you get down here?!" "Oh Lord o' mercy!" "Bless Your Heart! Why didn't I think of that!?" LOL THE GRANDMA IS GREAT!
I remember watching this in 1992. I nearly choked laughing when the kid said he was afraid to die younger than Elvis. We were talking about old southern accents tonight and I recalled this show. Thanks to RU-vid I was able to share with my family. Still hilarious 25 plus years later.
This episode never fails to put a smile on my face. Usually they interview the victim only after the rescue part is complete, but of course no one would believe this kid was at risk of dying in a situation like this.
I would. What if he slide down to a part where his chest couldn't expand. Or he was swelling from pressure.. thank goodness he wasn't upside down because that's exactly what would have happened.
I don't want to be rude but this was the funniest rescue I have ever seen in my life. I can totally imagine my crush doing this, it's just like him to get stuck in a laundry chute. "Can you PLEASE get me outta here?" "Well I'm gon try darlin', how'd you do it?" "I don't know!" "John Henry, how in the world did you get down there?" "...I don't know."
"I didn't want to die younger than Elvis." CLASSIC!!! I'll bet he's claustrophobic now! But man, I'm from the southern United States, and MAN, they have a thick accent!
i bet his parents weren't happy with all the damage that came with to get their son out of the laundry chute. I love him saying I don't want to die younger than Elvis haha
I remember as a kid going down a laundry shoot all the time at a place we lived at,me and my brother did this all the time it was a short cut to the basement until we got to big to fit in the laundry shoot. It was fun while it lasted. But this rescue 9-11 episode haha they had to tear up the house to get the kid out of the laundry shoot if this would have happened to us im afraid what mom or dad would have done haha. The grandma was great in this episode she reminds me of my grandma God rest her soul haha
Now ya see... EVERY grandmother should be this useful! "You had no business in there! What did you do that for..." along with trying to solve the problem herself. She didn't once blame the babysitter. And that is what every kid in America needs exposed to right now. It is YOU who are responsible for what YOU do. No one else.
"John Henry Nyther! How in the world did you get down there?" "I dunno..." This is something my children would do. No doubt. Not that it should be funny, but it is. I love this kid! :)
that's not very nice to mimic from a child in the laundry - chute clip where he says, " i don't want to die younger than elvis." you would not like it when you say something and someone mimics it. please keep that to yourself.
Oh lighten up you two!! The kid had cute mannerisms and phrases. I'm sure he laughs at himself now. I've laughed at videos of myself from when I was young.
It's been 30years since this happened so John is 37 now, and Katie is 34 and Caroline is 32. This happened on a Sunday and the week before Mother's Day. When I found out that John got stuck in the laundry shoot, I was worried. And the cost of the damage cost over $1200. Oh my.
I grew up in the Deep South, & this entire episode reminds me of To Kill A Mockingbird, with Scout & Gem gettin' up to all kinds of no-good. LOL!! All they needed was Dill & maybe a little adventure down the street to Boo Radley's house. John Henry & his MeeMaw are PRECIOUS. I love their accents, esp. how she says, 'hammah & screwdrivah". Southern accents are the best!!!
It's funny that there should be a segment like this in Rescue 911. I had a very similar experience myself when I was five, when I got my head stuck in a laundry chute in a Duplex in Minnesota. I don't remember it myself but apparently I made a lot of noise.
This entire video made me so uncomfortable and make me shiver cringe but this is defo the funniest thing I’ve ever seen on one of these rescues 911 episodes
Well, they were playing hide and seek after all. She wasn't supposed to be peeking. Plus, this was a re-enactment, so the girl might not have even gone outside in the real thing.
Growing up in Columbia I remember when this happened. It was the talk of the town for quite some time. Nice to still see the old station 9 before they rebuilt it. I also started my career with CFD and these same group of awesome firefighter/medics.
His grandmother is just a little laugh my aunt is the same way 😂😂😂 but thank God he's okay he took it so calm and kinda made a joke about it to keep himself calm
