That is my father (Ric Popp) who loves all animals. Because they were mobile homes, no one could safely fire their weapons. And he has said he’s never wanted to take someone out so badly. They all wanted to kill this guy, within good, & justified Reasons! The asshole only got 11 years. Absolute Bull shit!..
You can tell how much that officer loved his dog, and how much Duke loved his human. People who think animals have no feelings are the ones with no feelings. This is a beautiful story.
@@donniegray553 Did he bite him? Why the heck did the cop first say, "Duke, no" and then sick the dog on the perpetrator? I'd have felt worse if a cat had been mistreated. They're way cooler than dogs.
I love dogs and it's always sad whenever one of them dies or gets injured. Doggies are man's best friends and when something bad happens to them, you feel like you're losing a family member. But it's a lucky, lucky thing that this police dog survived.
Real men are not afraid to shed tears!!! I know you posted this six years ago and probably forgot all about your comment but I was a little teary eyed too lol!!
My heart skipped a beat when I heard Duke yelp, when being stabbed. Dogs are as loyal as any human could ever be. Some people say dogs are unintelligent, and for anyone who says that I say how would you like people to think of you if you were in Duke's position? Dogs can be heroes too. :)
Today’s the 30th anniversary of when this happened. If Duke could talk, I’m sure he would’ve said “Thank you” to those who helped save his life. This happened nine days before St. Patrick’s Day. That man who was shouting was crazy.
Andrew Sifuentes, I would have to agree with you, because I too love German Shepherds, and I have High respect for the breed, I have two male German Shepherds named, Blitz and Max, I've got Blitz from a local Animal Shelter, and about a week later, I've got Max from another Animal Shelter, Max was about to be put down, Until I came in and saved his life, I introduced him to Blitz, at First Blitz didn't like him, He used to growl at him, but as time goes on, Blitz got used to have Max around, and I've also got two Female German Shepherds named, Molly and Misty, Their Twin German Shepherds, Their Original Owner was looking for a home for one of them, but they didn't want to be separated, so I took them both, also I've bred Molly with Blitz, and She gave birth to German Shepherd Puppies, and I gave the puppies away.
This happened to a K9 dog at my friend's department in Mesa, Arizona. The suspect stabbed the dog several times, and they had no choice but to shoot him because he still had the gun and disappeared further into the house after he repeatedly stabbed a K9.
THANK YOU, Officer Valentine, for being the ultimate friend and partner to Duke. This is a wonderful story that made me so happy. The world needs more people like you!
This episode made my eyes water. It is still amazing how attached a person can become to an animal. It is even more touching since the dog was his partner at work as well as his pet at home
You know the bond runs deep when the only time duke stabilized was when jean was with him and Jean decided to spend 2 weeks sleeping in duke's cage. Real love! Amazing 💙💚
What a hero Duke is! When I was a kid, I used to watch this show! I can relate to it because my cat (although not a K9 officer) had gotten injured and was not expected to make it. I stayed by his side every day until he got better, which he did. He lived a very happy long life! I am currently in the process of being a police officer and have thought long and hard about becoming a part of the K9 Unit!
God needs to make more people like that wonderful police officer. The way he was with that beautiful dog was incredibly heart-warming. God bless him and "officer Duke".
Dogs are mans best friends. My dog saved my life from another dog that wandered the neighborhood. When my dog died from that fight, I told the people that i wished that they would have obeyed the fence laws... R.I.P Jasmine you oldie goldie!!
I cried watching this, it just goes to show that Dogs really are man's best friend and would lay their lives on the line and would sacrifice themselves for their masters on command, i've read and watched stories of dogs saving their owners at the end of their lives without hesitation nor without command, they've also stayed at their masters side when their master is dying they're such loyal and wonderful beings and are not given nearly enough credit for their good nature and big warm hearts.
It was heartbreaking to see Duke like that. But it was also so awesome to see the love and bound of Duke and his partner and friend…. So glad to know that Duke made it through
omg the man is incredible hes acting like its his child, hes awsome i wish everyone would be like that.No wonder Duke trusts him with his life. Its a true bond!
I started crying my eyes out when Duke got stabbed. I cried again when he went home. I love dogs, they are the best friend anyone could ever have. Thanks for your service Duke.
I just love how committed the handler is to caring for Duke in the aftermath of the stabbing. You can see it in his eyes, the way he talks. It's extremely moving and I can't help but tear up a little when I hear him talk about his dog.
I have watched this episode before and it always makes me cry 😢 but so glad it had a happy 😊 ending. Awesome to see the love and respect the police officer had for his K9 and the love duke has and had fue him as well...
This segment is so sad and upsetting. I had a dog but he died a few days after my 18th birthday. Tears start coming out when i see animal not doing well.
I've been there before. It's sort of in the middle of California. I went through it on the way to Sequoia National Park from San Francisco. I think it was about an hour from Fresno.
Probably Rich was a Special Needs person so the Judge probably gave him 11 years in Jail instead of life in Jail and believe me this right here is disgusting to hear about Rich getting 11 years in Jail since he stabbed a K-9 dog Duke and should've got life in Jail for all this and what's the matter with the Court System back then only sentencing Rich to 11 years in Jail instead of life without no possibility of Parole!
Poor Duke. This made me sad. To think if this happened to my dog, Peanut, I'd be very sad. 😧😢. I was thankful that Duke was alive and well. Duke was definitely a hero.
My Mother and I had a geman shepherd for 14 yrs. We knew a guy who was mentally ill. The dog had never seen him before. Yet when they first met my dog gave this man a growl that was so vicious it terrified me. How did my German Shepherd know? I think dogs (and other animals) are more 'in tune' to people than we are to each other.
The reason why I own a 2 shepherds.... Even though Duke may have passed away by now since this was made in the 90's or 80's I can tell him one thing: You did one good damn job.
christ id get cramped in that cage lol. duke and the officer have that special bond that good owners and pets have. its so sweet to watch duke heal and be happy with the officer.
dam who's chopping onions in here. i'm bawling like a baby.i loved how he stayed in vet hospital with duke. duke just wanted his daddy there. I'm a fur mommy nd i would do anything for my son frisco he is my baby.
Yes, I'll admit- I never cry at movies and stuff like that, but this nearly brought me to tears- I just couldn't help but think of my dog when I saw him (even though I have a Pomeranian)
Police Officers are incredible people and true heroes and to see a K9 stabbed it just feels like your heart has been ripped out of your chest, the K9 is an officer just the same as the man is, both are heroes!
when i was in preschool and no older then 2 years old we had a police officer come to preschool with a police dog also named duke, duke was a massive ball of mussel and quite a few kids were scared of duke, since i had a big dog i was not scared and got super excited and got to spend the entire showing petting and snuggling duke.
Just emailed this to the officer in the episode, he is still with the Modesto Police, he's a Captain in charge of the investigative services division (Detectives).
They don't call the dog Man's best friend for nothing. Too bad he is no longer a k-9 but I am happy the dog survived. I have two dogs myself and I consider them family. I would hate something like this to happen to them.
I used to read the Police and fire section in the newspaper and this story is a Domestic disturbance which is usually shown in the police and fire section of my newspaper.
To all of the k-9s whom have gotten wouded in the line of duty & has made it to still be with us today. Doesn't matter if you're retired or still working. You have done us proud. You have served your police depts & your commuties well. To those k9s who also have been killed in the line of duty. You have laid down your life for another & also so that your handler can go home to his family. Even though you have left a void that could never be replaced. You have done a great job. End of watch. We'll take it from here. Rest in peace and God speed. Amen.
