just use a screwdriver to force the stop brakes out of the sitting groove... theres no need to remove the springs at all... when u wanna attach the stop brakes on... fix the springs on the stop brakes first... sit the brakes on the grooves and push the brakes down and the will sit nicely
To add on... if release handle is not locked properly in release position before removing the cover... the stop brakes will rub against the drum causing damage... the only way to check is by using the crank handle to check if the brakes are free before removing the cover...then you have to turn the t-bar one at a time while moving the crank handle as while... crank handle will stop moving if the brakes touch the drum while removing cover
That was the wrong way to open up the davit.... you have to use the crank handle to check if the stop brake is free while removing the cover of the housing... or else you will end up damaging the stop brakes 100%... not a certified person at all... wrong methods...
