Well that's it! 2 videos of Nero and I am in love 😍 I have just got out of hospital after 4 months and I have a long road of physio ahead to get standing up and then walking again. I believe Nero can do it - he just needs love and there's tons of that here for him ❤❤❤

I've heard of some Freisians being shod with special shoes to help them. Accupuncture for pain? Im sure youre leaving no stone unturned to help Nero. Good luck 😿

Wow! His back is really curved...Just because the Vet does not appear optimistic. Giving him the best recovery chance can reap miracles...and then, at least you know,you gave him the best chance as much as you could. Sometimes, its really just up to them...

Never give up, as long as he’s willing, there is room for improvement imo. It will be a lifelong effort, but it can be done. The ride in the trailer to your place most likely caused some inflammation, he’s been through a lot in the past few days. Injections, physical therapy, slow steady exercise on soft ground, massage, acupuncture, acupressure, joint supplementals, wraps? lots of bedding in his stall for padding and lots of prayers! 🙏🙏🙏 Maybe he should be turned out with smaller, submissive horses?

You are SO courageous to take him in, check out some wholistic treatments. I bought a Equistim leg saver, and got my OTTB healed of bowed tendons...best of luck!!!

It just shows how damage can occur earlier in life, I followed much of what the vet was saying. Not actually owning a horse, but heavily researched for my centaur and centauride characters.

How about a chiropractor for the sweet boy?

Is the steep curve of the back a Friesen attribute or due to his past?

Can we see an x-ray?

Have you considered letting another vet see him?

Have you also tried a pet chiropractor?

I am 65...riding from 3...thats 62 years! I am a BHSI..in an earlier life Ii was a groom for HRH Duke of Edinburgh ....and sadly I have been in this situation...doesnt matter how beautiful a horse is if hes going to be in pain all his life its unfair to keep him going. Fact! But if he can live a painfree life thats great. Please... This is an excellent Vet....any horseperson would see that. Hes being straight and honest. Some of the comments here are ridiculous. Dont like the Vet? Dismissive? No! Hes being 100% honest. Just because hes saying what you dont want to hear. Hes a bloody good Vet fact! and his Owner is a real professional...she knows whats what. Hopefully he will improve...unless youve been around horsss all your life...stop making derogatory comments about someone. Been there done that...ive had horses in similar situation. And Wet??? This is the UK These are Friesians! The Nederlands isnt South Africa...its wet too😅😅

I appreciate how thoroughly you're evaluating all aspects of his quality of life. Good for you. Rescue is a VERY challenging calling, but it's worth it to have them in our lives however long or short, no matter the species. They touch our lives and teach us, change us.

He reminds me of my Friesian Salieri. We have lost him so many years ago but we still miss him. His mane went right down to his knees and was a lot of work to tend to. I never understood anything about horses but when I saw him, neglected and lonely, I just bought him right there and then. His previous owner at least helped me to organise a transport and I had to find a temporary home for him because I had nothing at all. We then built a stable on our grounds, big, warm and very aristocratic (lol), and a big hall where he could run and be exercised. It was so new to me. 6 months later, he came to us and blossomed. Not long afterwards, we got him a girl for company, a dapple-grey, shy and abused and a bag of bones. Frou-Frou also blossomed very quickly. When Salieri passed away at the age of 20, Frou-Frou lived only for 4 months and then followed him. It's somewhat strange because we always had aminals (wild and pets) who passed away not long after one another when losing their companions. I take it as a blessing.

It's very noticable, I could see it clearly. Also need a chiropractor, hips, back etc. It hurts, you can see.😢

Have you ever tried Chiropractic treatments? We did on the OTTB we rescued, he was 17 hands and it helped him sooo much. Just wondering. I understand Fresians are so much bigger.

We helped our horse with lameness with new shoes and chiropractic treatments...Thenwe started cold laser treatments....She is doing so good now and pain free.

This has got to be the Naomi Campbell of the Horse world (no offence intended Naomi!). I think it is probably the most beautiful horse that I have ever seen. If I had both the money, land and knowledge , I would love to rescue/ own one and just to stand there and admire it. Just wonderful to see your perseverance in looking into every aspect in repairing him back to a comfortable health (I done the same for my late dog Max, who passed 3 1/2 years ago from leukemia. Such a stunning horse!. I truly hope that he recovers fully or to at least a comfortable and long happy life. Good Luck to you all.

There is a product called Platnium. They are very informative you can call and speak to them direct. My 1st horse had navicular she was always in pain. Huge improvement when I started her on the supplement.

I have had a horse with significant arthritic in hock, did noltrex injection which was not very expensive and lasted almost a year and a half. Definitely look into this type of injection. Lasts longer than steroids.

Try a natural, restorative salve called Comfrey. Anti inflammatory as well Please look into this wonderful plant/weed. I've used it on my riding horses .

He's quite playful with you. I thought you would lose your bobble hat at one point. 😊 Well, a few things vet has suggested. Just got to try some options out. Nero is a lovely boy and despite his discomfort, still seems to have a zest for life. I know he will get every chance with you. 🤗
