Love your work guys! What's your thoughts about coming down the tensioned lines to access the casualty on one carabiner? You got swing potential back into the structure should that line fail. I've been putting an inverted back up device on the other line. Once again, your videos are really great stuff.

Hi Simon, The Short cowtails is only stopping the L57 from being loaded, you don't really need the short cowstail at all, as the casualty is anchoring you from swinging back into the structure. Hope that makes sense. Book on a course and I'll explain further. ; )

If you were staying on separate ropes to the casualty and had pulled yourself in and clipped over the casualty's ropes (like a good old Scottish loop rescue)), then you'd be putting a backup over the casualty's ropes like you mention. In this demo, the casualty's rope are in effect anchored at the top and bottom and the rescuer's anchored to those ropes with 2 points and descending them; no different really to descending a set of diagonal tensioned lines. Like Aide says, the krab he used is just to keep the weight off the L57. Cheers.

Nice videos. I also love that Skedco stretcher you guys have down there! You definitely know your equipment. By the way, I have a tech question for you guys. Is there any device other than the ASAP and the ASAP Lock that you can place in the upside down position as in for rescue, that you would use? Kind regards.

So normally you send them downhill, but doing it this way is bringing him uphill?

Adrian...this video is for the rescuing from the descender side. Can you do a video of approaching from the ascender side, transferring him and climbing out? Maybe not the full climb, but the technique needed. Thanks to ALL of you for excellent demo videos.

6:13 Beware, keep a eye on what you're doing. Applying side pressure while lifting 2 persons, unacceptable. Side loading a carabiner. Big no no!
@adaptivo3692
@adaptivo3692 2 года назад
Side loading a karabiner when used as a point of attachment and when there is anything more than negligible consequences of failure - unacceptable Side loading of karabiner in that specific situation - at worst undesirable .. it could basically be a key ring mate and it wouldn’t matter.

You'd let out the i'D and pendulum him the other way by running out the rope, as he says in the video . This technique is basically IRATA aid climbing with a casualty - i.e. very tiring.
