Our Mission
Founded in 1997 in Cedar City Utah, we are a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, wildlife and environmental education, and the development of the Cedar Canyon Nature Park.
Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release
The Southwest Wildlife Foundation of Utah (SWF) cares for more than 100 sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife annually. Restoring them to health and returning them to the wild is our primary goal, but for those that cannot be released due to disabilities, the Cedar Canyon Nature Park (CCNP) can provide them with a permanent home in a natural setting while enhancing our visitors educational experience at the park.
Informing, Educating and Inspiring
The SWF provides over 100 educational programs reaching over 30,000 people annually. We believe providing educational outreach programs to schools, scout groups and community events, with focus on children and families, will make the greatest impact in preserving our wildlife, the environment, our public lands and our resources for future generations to enjoy.
Martin Tyner
Since age twelve, with a bird on his arm, Martin has captivated audiences sharing his knowledge and experience of his wildlife friends.
At age nineteen, Martin was hired as curator of birds of prey at Busch Gardens, CA. He also worked in the movie and television industry training big cats, elephants, primates, sea mammals and raptors.
“One of my greatest childhood fantasies was the desire to create a personal friendship with a wild eagle. I found myself with a love and fascination for these powerful creatures.”
Martin Tyner is a federally licensed falconer, eagle falconer, wildlife rehabilitator, wildlife propagator, and wildlife and environmental educator.
He has been providing wildlife and environmental programs throughout the western United States, to schools, scouts and community groups for over fifty years.

Fun watching their little faces follow you and watch as you feed their siblings. One's eyes were so wide open, and they appear so intent on the activities. Great gentle man.

this is now one of my family favorite owl videos, we have never seen them lay down on their backs for defence so we felt bad laughing at them looking like little overfed plushies even though we knew they were scared. it was so heartwarming to see them gradually realize they were being cared for and line up to receive food. I love owls but I love little owls the most and one day I hope to work at the rescue center and help many little friends return to a healthy life. thank you for saving them and inspiring others!

Thank you for this video. I think everyone should watch this for better education. There are TOO MANY videos on youtube of people finding and keeping and self rehab + then turn them into their pets. So wrong. Seeing these owls stressed, clacking their beaks and in defense mode breaks the heart but it's necessary, thank goodness for you guys and all that you do. The ONLY people who should handle wild owls are wildlife centers, falconers & those with a license.

Years ago, I was having a horrible night on a paper route I had at the time. Near the end of the route I had found one of my customers had put their ceramic owl IN their box instead of on top. Barely controlling my irritation, I roughly reached in to grab the thing and slam it on top of the box. As I grasped it's soft feathers, it very calmly turned to look at me. Snatching my hand back in shock I just stared dumbfounded at this living owl looking calmly back at me. After some of the coolest minutes of my life looking at this adorable bird from about a foot away, the owl calmly took off, flitting through my car and out the other side. I later figured out it was an eastern saw-whet owl. To this day, that remains one of the most profound wild animal encounters I've had.

that clicking... to remind you that yes, we have talons but we Also have snappy lil' beaks! it occurs to me that realistically in the wild maybe half this clutch would have made it to adulthood. but because of human intervention (for the good, the bad or the indifferent) all of them have a solid chance to grow up and nest.

It is. That city is the greenest place on the planet. By the definition of Google. Its a small city in southwest of Iran called JHHROM. The city is full of Palm tress, thousands of orchards. Circus growth of all kinds of fruits. Oranges, tangerines, lemon, lime and sweet lemon that is native IRAN. Also the walks of the streets are full of Mulberry. Has the smaller fruits to their close cousins Strawberry. My father had several orchards of Oranges, lime, lemon, sweet lemon and very tall palm trees. The places that would have peace of mind and tranquility, was outside of the city but with walking distance. I did most of my studies and homework during my high school in that part of the city. Day 4 -- not tame, but smart enough to figure out that cooperating with the person feeding them is a winning idea.

These little owlets are just too darn cute! I love every type of owl, especially burrowing owls. But there's just something so unique and cool about these guys. Thank you so much for sharing your work, and for showing us these beautiful critters and teaching us important information about what we can do to keep them safe. 😊❤

The little owl in the corner is looking up like your husband is daddy... Do owl babies play with each other like other species? When Martin's with his birds it's like a little kid with a train set hes that into it.. it's awesome

We all wordwide should take more resposibility of our environment. Even if I am not green politically is your engagement much appreciated and should be more published all over the world. In order to open the peoples mind and their responsibility for all creatures worldwide
