Tina Strobos Chudson was born into a family of feminist role models who were involved in the labor movement and Women’s Peace Movement. During World War II, Tina and her mother rescued over one-hundred Jews by hiding them in their family’s boarding house in Amsterdam, and smuggling them to other regions.
“It was purely [for] human reasons. Life is sacred, and we have to help each other. That was the reason.”
On multiple occasions, Tina was arrested, interrogated, and beaten by the Gestapo, who suspected that she was aiding Jewish refugees. Regardless, Tina protected them, and used clever tactics - including sexuality - to pass these interrogations. Tina additionally joined and supported Dutch resistance movements by hiding weapons in her home, forging passports, and transporting radios and firearms. In 1989, Yad Vashem officially recognized Tina and her mother as “Righteous Among the Nations.”
March is Women’s History Month in the United States.

I am proud to count Tina as one of my best friends for more than 35 years. An absolutely amazing and courageous woman. I hope you listen to her whole story.

She is courageous, she risked her life over and over, how many of us would have done the same for our neighbors. This is true compassion in action.

I have watched a few of these survivors stories and am in awe of the bravery. Here we have a young woman and she places herself in such danger. Now about the interviewer. What’s with all the spelling. Sometimes I don’t think he is listening to her because he often will ask the same questions. He also seems like an interrogation, does he believe her? Then she reveals, my husband has just had a heart attack, but he just ignores and continues with questions. A simple, I’m sorry to hear that. Would have been decent and showing some empathy.

I would love to hear her & others, but i'd rather only hear them. I don't like hearing an interviewer. It just ruins it for me listening to an interviewer. Just allow them to tell their stories on their own like other biographies. I have to leave. Too aggravating.

Just beginning to listen to this interview and he has to be the MOST pleasant of interviewers that I have ever encountered. Bravo for such respect and sweetness toward this lady.

He did great except for not saying something like I’m so sorry when she said her husband had a heart attack this morning, he’s in the hospital. I can’t believe she was strong enough to go ahead with this important interview. Amazing lady!

Understanding of the horrors of the Hollocost ! My teachings would have been much deeper! Hard for me to understand the depth of strong negative attitudes for one group of people - the most special to Almighty God ! I certainly was educated to honor God's chosen people as special to His plans to save the people of the world who have been interested in the true message of God to everyone He has made...very sad for all the terror and harm done to one group more than any other - the Hebrews !!!

An earth angel. Thank you for relating your testament. Yes young people should be taught to have real empathy for others, if it does not come natural to them. You are a brave lady.
