It's much, much more respectable being a reseller than being a social media influencer or an OnlyFans model, just saying. I am a small-time re-seller, and I hope to one day maybe do it fulltime, however that wont be anytime soon. I have had just around 300 customers since I started re-selling around 2019-2020.

The only time that maybe was justified, was during the pandemic when people hoarded toilet paper. I have a friend who was so scared she had hoarded 9 packages (24 per pack) of tp. She lives alone. I was angry with her and thought it ridiculous, but I know this is unrelated. I remember seeing fights over people overloading their carts with tp.

I understand informing someone of limits, but continuing on to insisting that we make separate trips for separate family purchases when my car was broken and GD was my ride, is just plain nuts ! ! Old guy actually followed us to checkout to make sure we paid separately ! ! People are NUTS ! !

I had this happen to me, once. I was at local thrift with a granddaughter on a sale day that was also 'old people discount' day. I had sat down on a bench and was double checking items for major flaws while waiting for her to try on some clothing. A woman approached me and started in on a 'Resellers are evil and should be ejected from store' rant. I looked at her, agast, and simply said 'my business is NONE of your business !' My granddaughter returned just then and with slightly raised voice, informed her, 'she has 6 sons, 6 daughters-in-law, AND 19 grandchildren! ' She had just started up again, that I was only allowed to buy things for myself when a supervisor walked by. I hailed her, asked if I was allowed to purchase things for my sons, and was there a limit on purchases. Her answer of course was - 'What ever you want and as much as you want. Can I get you another cart ?' I said 'yes thank you we need to get some infant clothing for #20. ' Woman left in a royal huff.

I had a lady one time humiliate me in Goodwill.When I had stashed things up by the counter with permission of the gal who work there.And as I collected what I was about to purchase and get in line this woman ,a customer loudly said" Excuse me, are you planning on planning on BUYING those things" Very loudly...making it sound like I was trying to steal. I responded with disbelief.."Of course?!?" She didn't apologize but smirked at me and left. I wanted to start bawling right there I was so mad and embarrassed. Some people....teach us how not to act.

This happened to me at a garage sale when I bought the whole table of jewelry. Another woman got angry with me. I remember what Jesus said. And I stepped away and asked her to pick out what she wanted from my pile of Jewelry. It's important not to get upset over peoples reactions. This hurt and anger you feel gives Satan empowerment. So don't give in to him. Stay kind under every situation. And don't let anyone bother you.

You are a paying customer, that is all that matters. Yes, there are poor people who need clothes for 99 cents, but I have never seen in my 46 years a single thrift store sold out, or anything close to it. Meaning, there is plenty to go around. Anyways there are also people who would be very poor too if they dont come up with a side hustle, which reselling is a perfecrly decent and honest one imo. No one is forced to buy the clothes (or any other items) off of you. Its honestly not that womans business and that was very rude of her, and I doubt everyone in the store was talking about you. It was probably just her trying to gossip with different people in the store. I find issue with anyone who feels so entitled as to judge what someone else's intent is in a thrift store. What a karen
I have people giving me the look when I'm in the Goodwil. I just boldly look at them in the eye and smile. I dare them to try to pull that with me and actually say something. Not only does what they don't sell go into the landfill but every single person has the same opportunity as you or I to go into a Goodwill and get what they want. There's plenty of stuff to go around and as resellers, we are looking for a specific item in a specific category. We don't all sell the same items. One reason I am so passionate about the idea of reselling… REDUCE/REUSE/RECYCLE! Keep usable goods in rotation! You are literally saving the environment. And if you can make $ to support yourself doing it, you’re doing more for this planet than 99% of the people you see every day. 💕 Also, I heard a saying once… the people who are mean to you are usually mean to you for one of 3 reasons: they either see you as a threat, they don’t like themselves, or they’re jealous of you.

That person was probably just mad because you had something in your cart that they wanted and when you offered it up, they chickened out because they realized what an a-hole they were being. Do not let other people's "garbage truck" syndrome get to you (garbage truck syndrome is someone dumping their hate/crap/problems/unasked opinions on everyone else). I pity people like this and I try not to be rude to them, I tell them I am sorry they are obviously having a bad day and that I will pray for them. If they persist in sticking their nose in my business I tell them "none yours", meaning none of your business, I didn't hear anyone ask your opinion and go about my business. I am old, have thick skin after a lifetime of people like this and don't care what they think about me but I refuse to be judged and given unasked opinions.
People out here in everyday life that we run into like stores , malls, libraries & etc really just need to mind their business PERIOD !!! In the past I was in a Walmart buying big bags of dry food & a big bag of dry czt food along with a case of wet can food ; A gentleman walked up to me and said to me " You must have alot of animals , How many exactly do you have anyway " . At first I was taken aback to his question & was thinking what I have in my cart or how many animals I have is not your busness . i just politely said to him yes, I do & went about my errands. People really need to stay in their lane. Please don't let this person who cannot mind their busness ruin your day or get you upset. You never have to explain what you have in your cart or why. or even what you are going to do with the clothes you paid for to her or anyone. Smile you did nothing wrong she did !

The worker is absolutely correct. I used to work for Goodwill and not everything was bought up by “people in need”. Most people “in need” didn’t want to shop at Goodwill. So what you’re doing is absolutely fine. Who cares what that moron says.

When I was out doing what you were doing just this past week, there was a lady walking around the store I was in saying in a very loud voice "It's a good thing I'm not a reseller! " She was making a big deal out of the wall bags being priced at according to her at $6.99 each and how it was resellers fault she couldn't afford them. Which I knew and everyone else that heard her knew, she was just making a scene for whatever her reason. Most of these busybodies don't know the life cycle of thrifting, how it works and trying to educate them about usually doesn't work. You just don't feel bad because you are doing nothing wrong. I was a manager at the bins. The clothes that didnt sell there were made into big bales that were sold to who knows who for like 37 cents a pound. So you might as well get it because someone else is getting it cheaper.

How does “cutting out” the people who spend the most money there make any sense for a business trying to make a profit? That doesn’t make any sense. Goodwill jacked their prices up because they felt like they could get away with it. They have their own online marketplaces and also sell things on eBay. People have been buying things from goodwill and other thrift stores and reselling them online for almost 30 years now. Goodwill’s price hikes have nothing to do with resellers. And in fact in a lot of regions stores are getting guidance to lower prices because their price increase strategies weren’t working. They know what side their bread is buttered on and they know resellers provide a large amount of revenue in their brick and mortar locations.

Some people think resellers are taking money away from GoodWill charities by reselling things for more than you purchased them at GW. If GW tried to sell the same item for the price you resell at in would never sell. They don’t think about the work that goes into transforming your purchases into something someone will buy and use versus something that is going to end up in a landfill. Do you cherry-pick the items as they come into the thrift shop you work at to resell for yourself? I can see why people might resent that. I also notice that you don't say what goes into the dumpster, but I would imagine that it is pretty low value junk - or you would resell it.

In Phoenix they closed a very centralized job search* *computer center, it's now only available for vets only, meanwhile attached to that office is low income goodwill store loaded homeless* *encampment in their parking lot, outdoor store walkway, everywhere 16 Street and* *Indian School, Phoenix. They moved the regular people job search center way far West of Phoenix in another city Peoria no where near population of Phoenix, so now low income central Phoenix have to travel 15-20 miles just to get job search help only MON through Thursday, Closed Fridays, weekends. Who knows if relocated Peoria office is on a busline? There's waay more jobless people in Phoenix than Peoria* 🔴 *So NO - GOODWILL IS NOT helping the community*

I see nothing wrong with being a reseller, but there are some nasty resellers out there, at my local Goodwill, there are 2 guys who are there everyday with their phones taking photos and researching items. Once, when the employee brought out some new items, a woman had grabbed a box and one of the guys tried to take it from her and ended up ripping the box, then he just threw it at her! I've also seen them try to take stuff out of people's carts when the person is not looking. Perhaps this woman had a bad experience with a reseller, but whatever the reason, it doesn't give her the right to harass you.
YEP! The men get very nasty. AND I used to leave my stuff up front and someone took something so now I use a basket, pay for it take it to the car and go back in. I know this lady is nice but I have already dealt with some nasty resellers and I just started! My boyfriend had problems with them too.

You've got this! I did a walkabout through Goodwill & had a number of items that I wanted to purchase (mostly antique & art glass). It wasn't busy & I didn't have a cart so I circled around to grab the glass items & a lady that worked there was throwing them in the garbage breaking all items. I asked her if I could grab some items to purchase she said "No, You're too late" & started tossing them even harder. They lost about $100 of my money. Seattle, WA. Dearborn St. Goodwill. There was no need for this to happen. It was extremely triggering, rude & a bad way to run a business. In your case, you are doing your job getting items out of the store & online to sell to people in other area of the country or world. Shame on that lady for her rude behavior.

I would say I'm buying stuff for me and family members, I have had friends and family members, ask me to look out for item's, or clothing for them. I used to resell on Ebay, 2000 -2012, do to life and not enough time to do it anymore you don't have to explain yourself. ❤

If someone is in need then Goodwill is probably not the place to get anything ..a church is probably what they need for that. Goodwill's prices are higher than I've ever seen them. A pair of shoes is $25 at goodwill now, that's comparable to Ross or TJ Max.

I work at Value Village and honestly I love most of our resellers, most of them are some of our nicest customers! They aren’t grabbing everything off the shelves or pushing people out of the way to get the good stuff, most of them are very polite and treat everyone kindly. I’m honestly happy when I see one of our regular resellers find good things to make a little money on! If I didn’t work there I could do the same thing, but I don’t have that kind of dedication or knowledge to be successful at it. Resellers work their butts off, going to multiple stores daily hoping to find treasures. They spend hours thrifting, then cleaning the items, taking photos, researching some items, then listing and packaging items up to ship out! That’s a lot of work, I’d be willing to bet that the ones reselling for a living work way more than 40 hours a week!! You do what you gotta do to survive, keep up the good work. Try to not let the obviously miserable woman take up too much space in your brain. She’s the rude one and maybe should learn to keep her opinions to herself!

The dollar stores and Goodwill too need to donate these clothes to the salvation army or the local mission before trashing them. I don't understand the waste. I see homeless sleeping in the street and people who just want them out of sight. They need these things. They can't afford Goodwill.
The salvation also throws away unsold items there is way too many nice clothes in this country. Homeless people can easily get nice clothes for free its the expensive housing, healthcare, and drug addiction that our the three main issues for most i believe.
Lol when people say that just remember they are mad they didnt find their prada or lululemon because they rolled outa bed at 12pm. They arent poor or homeless because they would know theres unlimited low mid and high end clothes in this country and no homeless person ive met has ever said can i have a dollar to buy a some clothes? They know how to get clothes for free probably in week 1 on the street.
