Yesterday, after changing the oil at home, I decided to finally research how to make this message go away! All the tutorials I followed that told me to hold the “OK” button for 5 seconds on the Service Interval menu resulted in other messages popping up INSTEAD of the “confirm reset” prompt. In this video, I will demonstrate the steps I used to finally reach the elusive confirmation screen!
Background: After our last couple oil changes, the service interval counter wasn’t reset. Because of this, our 2021 Kia Sorento Hybrid EX greeted us with a -10,000 miles service message EVERY TIME we started the car! To me, it seems like there are a few intentional distractions in the way to prevent someone from resetting the countdown when it has been neglected for too long. I have no confirmation of this theory, but it would make sense that Kia would want to preserve that kind of warning if someone brings in their vehicle for warranty work concerning engine lubrication.
