Raining today, but I can wait to try this out on my 2016 Elantra. I've had a dead battery a couple times and the sunroof closed properly once last year, but it's been bouncing back when I press the automatic close. It only closes if I hold the switch.

Thank you for video. I was trying to reset in my 2016 Sorento but released the button to early. Now sunroof does not work automatically and when closing it will raise but the blind will close. I tried to redo this after hour but it did not help. Can anyone give me advise how to reset it?

Hello, I see you make a few videos about these Kia Sunroofs and maybe you can help me. I have a 2019 Sorento with the pano sunroof that’s having issues. The auto open/close does not work at all, and the blind and glass open out of sync with each other. I’ve tried the reset option several times and it doesn’t seem to work. I’m trying to avoid going to the dealer so any help would be great. I can also make a video to send you if needed

I did it but it messed up my car. My sunroof was set to where I switch to open and release and it opened automatically but now I have to hold it so I can open it all the way. Smh 2020 Kia optima. Any advice

This is exactly what Optima 2020 workshop manual says for sunroof reset: 1. With ignition "ON", use "CLOSE" switch to fully close the sunroof glass and roller blind. 2. With the glass and the roller blind fully closed, release the "CLOSE" switch and then press and hold down the switch (about 10 seconds) until the glass and the blind slightly move back once. 3. Release the "CLOSE" switch and then press and hold down the switch again, and the glass and the blind will open and close in below order and complete Sunroof Reset process. Blind slides open → Sunroof glass tilts, slides open, and then closes → Blind slides and closes. ※ If the "CLOSE" switch is released while above operation is in progress, the reset process will be cancelled and the process must be restarted from step 1.

I have a 2011 Kia Sportage and I opened the sunroof normally and it opened all the way back, but when I tried to close it, it won’t close. It’s starts to close then it reverses. What could it be ?

Hi! If you are still having this problem it’s because the tracks that the sunroof roll on lost lubrication. Which is very common. To fix it but a bottle of wd-40 (white lithium grease) make sure it has the red hose attachment to get into small places. Stick the hose In the rubber liner next to the sunroof glass close and open the sunroof a few times. The problem will go away.

Do you have one for a chevy impala? Just took my car in to have the sunshade replaced and they never mentioned it to me but on the notes says slight gap on sunshade, motor will not reprogram so i wanted to try it myself.

Hello there! Awesome video by the way. I Recently got 2022 Tucson and noticed the sunroof doesn’t open as much as the one I had in the 2019 version. Is there a way I can make it open wider? Thank you so much in advance.

No, that won't be fixed by the reset.

Hi there, This what I see for Sunroof Reset for KIA Sorento (UM) 2016: 1.Turn the ignition key to the ON position and then close the panoramaroof completely. 2.Release the panoramaroof control lever. 3.Press and hold the CLOSE button for more than 10 seconds until the sunroof fully closed and then recovered slightly. 4.Then, the panorama sunroof operates as follows: •Blind open → Glass tilt up 5.Release the panoramaroof control lever. 6.Press and hold the CLOSE button once again within 5 seconds until the sunroof operates as follows: •Glass close → Glass open → Glass close Then release the lever. 7.Reset procedure of panorama system is finished.

In my Tugson 2023 model vehicle, there is no problem when the sunroof is half open or fully open, but when it is closed, there is a lot of rattling noise from the rear and this is very annoying. I would be very happy if you have any information on how we can fix this.

I have a 2022 kia k5. I thought my sunroof seemed a little off, so i tried this reset. Now it only functions halfway, any ideas? Happ7 to provide any additional info that might be helpful

Have you tried doing it again? This might happen if reset is no performed completely. Here is the workshop manual recommendation to reset sunroof on KIA Optima: 1. With ignition "ON", use "CLOSE" switch to fully close the sunroof glass and roller blind. 2. With the glass and the roller blind fully closed, release the "CLOSE" switch and then press and hold down the switch (about 10 seconds) until the glass and the blind slightly move back once. 3. Release the "CLOSE" switch and then press and hold down the switch again, and the glass and the blind will open and close in below order and complete Sunroof Reset process. Blind slides open → Sunroof glass tilts, slides open, and then closes → Blind slides and closes. ※ If the "CLOSE" switch is released while above operation is in progress, the reset process will be cancelled and the process must be restarted from step 1.

Directly from workshop manual: 1. Push the up switch. (Keep on pushing the switch) - the slide moved 5mm forward after 15 seconds. 2. After moving the slide 5mm forward, turn OFF the switch and push the UP switch (Keeping on pushing the switch with continuous operation) - If the operation above is normal condition, the sunroof once and closes. 3. When the sunroof is closed completely, turn OFF the UP switch initialize the motor completely.

My hyundai elantra 2012 doesn't have a switch, instead it has button controls ( 1, 2, C, then two arrow buttons). The manual keeps alluding to a switch but I got nothing. How does this process change for me?

Are those buttons exactly at the same location as video? Did you try to press and hold the C button?

@@AutomotiveDiagnosis No they're kind of off to the drivers side then back a little bit, I did try holding the C button but I didn't think to try the arrow button that also closes the roof. Fingers crossed!

I finally got it, as there was 2 buttons for the roof. The owner’s manual says sunshade button, but it’s actually the sunroof button which needs to be pressed and hold. But even after the reset, the sunroof isn’t fully closed, a half inch is still up, and it creates wind drag sound and possible leakage during rain. May be the track or motor needs to be repaired.
