Doesn't really look like Ray Tracing On and off has much of a difference based on how the game looks, the graphics looks so good already that Ray tracing is basically upon preference.

@@HaloinfiniteEternal the game has only raytraced reflections as an option,no lightning or ambiet occlusion like Resident Evil Village,the RT implementation is Poor in RE4R compared to REVillage,maybe the demo is just an old build

​@@Jericco8 Doesn't it have AMD CACAO? That's raytraced ambient occlusion if I'm not mistaken. By the way cacao means cocoa in Spanish, and it sounds so silly lol.

There really aren't any scenes where RT makes a difference in the demo, because it only applies to reflections and refraction.

Honestly, RE’s engine is sooo good with shadows and physical based lighting that I wouldn’t blame anyone who thought the shadows were Ray traced. Apparently, Ray tracing in this game only applies to reflections and not global illumination or shadows. Turning on Ray tracing will only affect reflections in this game from what I’ve seen. I think you can do away with it for even better performance

Honestly wish more devs would take this stance. Raytraced shadows/illumination should only be used if it fits the games art direction. Baked shadows placed to set a scenes atmosphere feels far better than artificially throwing it in as an option as 8 times out of 10 it's not used properly. Cyberpunk even suffered from this early on, but as path tracing/overdrive was introduced it fits the game perfectly now. You can test this in darkly lit rooms with normal RTX vs Overdrive/Off, and it entirely changes the scene from a overly vibrant scene to a dark cascading scene with light properly acting as it should.

the reflections actually look better when it's SSR. I see more specular highlights in the water, even though they are fake as hell, they just "look" better. It's like dressing up a scene before a shoot. You place lights in areas to make the scene look better with different reflections as a "dress up"

@@grey6545The implementation of SSR in RE Engine games are generally pretty poor and created tons of artefacts and just looks terrible all around.

In the castle section and the island i would have RTX on just due to the fact that there was a lot of nice reflections that just made the game look nice, especially the one section of the castle where leon gets trapped in the cage

Because it's a dark scenery I would argue. There's supposed to be almost no reflections.

That’s the thing about etc you would notice WAY more because it’s how the light reacts to how you move and block it and all that.

@@xAndrzej42 I agree. This generation of hardware has yet to prove it. Perhaps in the future. Or maybe when developers master this generation of hardware. But if this is where it's at, I'll just turn ray tracing off to boost fps

4 minutes into the video and the only difference I can see so far is in the water reflections but I’ll keep watching because honestly why have Ray Tracing if it’s so subtle you can’t see any meaningful difference and instead you just lose performance

Only water looks a tiny bit better. The rest is literally zero difference for about 35% less performance. Not recommended at all.

The only problem I have with these ps5 games, it looks like they are all ps4 graphics but with true 4K resolution and, Ray tracing. Thats the problem, graphics dont change at all. Ps4 pro is 4K on screen settings but all games are in 2K. Xbox one X is true 4K.

@UnrealStutterEngine Thats not true. All games on PS4 are in 60fps. All games on PS5 are in 30fps cause it is not powerful enough to mix ray tracing with 4K at 120fps or at least 60fps. This console is a huge waste of time the way it is now, no.

As usual, almost no difference. Moreover, on PC the game crashes in couple minutes when you turn you turn on RT.

So it it the vram kind of. What happens is there’s something off about how the Re engine dumps demands in the vram when ray tracing is on. So even if you adjust your settings to be within the 10gb limit, when you get into a more tasking area, the vram usage will spike above the 10gb vram limit and that forces the game to crash. Do this if you want to play with ray tracing and almost zero crashes. Set everything to High where possible but set textures to high (2gb). You want to set your vram usage to be no more that 6.39gb so that if there is a spike, there’s still be some head room. This is how I played on my 3080 with 16 gb ram and core i7 11700f with no crashes and ray tracing on. Also FSR 1 set to quality seems to reduce the work load on the gpu better than fsr 2 for some reason. Almost 5-9% less

@UnrealStutterEngine I won’t lie… Leon’s hair strand do look crazy man! I can’t turn it off! Lmao! Looks too damn good! I’d take the performance hit! I’ve been playing at 4K capped to 60 as I play on an older Samsung TV (Q8fn 55inch) 60 fps is perfect for me. But I’d give is a go with your settings and see how it pans out! Thanks Mate!

Once again, Ray Tracing proves to be almost no difference and not worth the tax it puts on your gpu at all. I have a 3080ti but will be playing with RT and hair strands off.

@@MK_Gluskin Так же придерживаюсь такой теори, ибо сейчас очень мало игр, которые дают реальное отличия RT, а то что реально ресурса жрет игра, так тут даже спорить не буду, вот недавно скачал игру резидент евил 2 ремейк (RT верится), так что с RT что без неё одинаково, особо какого то реализма не видео, а ресурс видяхи эта технология хорошо жрет, а выключил РТ, и сразу фпс под 100+, это при том что все на максимум выкрутил, 12+ Гб памяти, это при том что у меня 8 Гб, и все четко идёт. А вот уже взять тот же киберпанк 2077, так там РТ очень преобразовывает игру, не знаю ли стоит пихать эту технологию в старые проекты, типа этой игры, ибо игра по сути и без РТ неплохо выглядит, это если ровнять к оригиналу

Ray tracing is only implemented on reflections in this game. So it's not a huge difference but also not a huge drop in performance. You'd lose like 5-10FPS so worth it

@@josephkelly9239 I see, then I would say ray tracing is worth it. In Elden Ring, for example, ray tracing is not only not noticeable, in some areas it even looks worse, yet the performance hit is huge

​@@josephkelly9239 that's highly relative to the scene displayed, in some you can lose more than 20 fps. Out of 100 on average, that's a solid 20 % loss and it's noticeable
